  1. Yeah, they’re the only ones daft enough to pay that sort of money.
  2. They mustn’t have been watching yesterdays game then.
  3. But it won’t be true at all levels of football. The further you go down the heap the less two footed players can be. How many times have you seen a right footed defender cock up a clearance because a) they miss kicked because they’re weaker on their left side b) they tried to make what should be a left footed clearance into a right footed one. Also it’s not just about passing the ball out efficiently, it’s also about tackling off your dominant side and being comfortable jockeying opponents down that side. Not every right footer is effective at perfoming these tasks on the left flank.
  4. You’re quoting players of absolute top level international class. They’re probably extremely comfortable playing off either side. Unfortunately we aren’t shopping in that market anymore. In our current impoverished state having a left footer and right footer makes sense. You only had to watch McCloughlin passing it out yesterday to realise that.
  5. They’re ambivalent about it. If the balance sheet dictates it they’ll be good with that.
  6. Nobody sees the hard to make passes like he does.
  7. Gestede could head a ball as good as anybody. He needs to take Gueye under his wing.
  8. Given they absolutely stole Wharton you’d think they’d be embarrassed enough to do us a favour.
  9. He made the least mistakes so I’ll go along with that.
  10. And full backs who can double as centre halves.
  11. I agree regarding getting bodies in the box. We wouldn’t have scored the sort of goal they scored after 20 minutes of the game because we wouldn’t have have had enough players in and around the ball for it to fall to one of our players. Hedges and DeNeve won’t be there. Neither will Travis or Tronstad.
  12. They put one on him very early on that marked his card. One they got away with.
  13. Miller looks to be one that can look after himself. Axel is too obvious. Gueye never gets the benefit of the doubt off the refs so he’s treading a fine line before he starts. Abeliosu got wrestled too the ground too easily for me. I suppose we’ll see in the coming months who the fighters are.
  14. If that “ tackle “ is at the home end of any ground 100% of the time it’s a given penalty. Who’d take it and whether we’d score from it is another story. My money would be on Ohashi.
  15. We haven’t got a player who’ll put a real foot in. Travis is the only one that is even near and yesterday he wasn’t at it. They gave him a quietener early on after the ball had gone that they got away with. That was one of the things I liked about Beck, he’d meet fire with fire and he didn’t take a backward step.
  16. Ohashi isn’t a no 10. It’s like if we played Rhodes there. Neither of them had the tools to play that role. They’re finishers not play makers. If we are going to play both of them go to an all out 4-4-2 and play them as a pair. Or play Kargbo up there with Gueye.
  17. We got bullied yesterday with all our big lads on display.
  18. Regarding Henrikson he seems to have caught the “ let’s get pointless yellow cards “ bug from Buckley. You could see the ref saying - “ I can see you’re new to this game but that’s three strikes, next time - you’re out “.
  19. It seems like they’re only taking him along to keep him sweet. He should get some game time against Bradford or what is the point ?
  20. The Standells - Sometimes Good Guys Don’t Wear White
  21. It’s never been about size, it’s all about what’s beating under the badge. Speedie had more aggression than all those wrapped up together and he wasn’t the biggest player on the pitch. The big lads on the pitch never worried me, it was little nasty bastards you had to look out for.
