  1. Whoever plays right up front at the moment are on a hiding to nothing. How many chance do we make for the strikers ? 1 or 2 a game at the most. If you want strikers that make their own goals, they cost serious money not magic beans.
  2. It’s that sort of decision making that does my head in. Along with the over ambitious pass down field when the obvious pass is shorter and out wide. Plus the passes that go behind players so they have stop and lose all forward momentum. I can’t believe Eustace doesn’t sit them down on a Monday morning and play the games back incident by incident. “ Right, you lost the ball/gave the ball away there, where should you have passed it to ? “
  3. I was expecting the new Berkovic or Bohinen, Somebody to play the killer pass or make that killer little 20 or 30 yard run to open up our opponents defence. Somebody who demands the ball off the defence instead of somebody quietly hanging around waiting for the ball. It hasn’t happened yet.
  4. Eustace has improved lots of things around the team but the passing is still poor. We give the ball away way too often. You can’t do that in modern football. It’s the un forced errors that kill you.
  5. They’ll be watching the cricket.
  6. The only thing I canthink is that Hedges played the whole of the Leeds game so maybe his game time needs managing.
  7. Cornet is another one of those “ fast of the mark “ players that are destined to spend plenty of time on the treatment table. See Harry Chapman. They have pace but they don’t know how to use it wisely.
  8. Very attacking given the circumstances. I’d have had Hedges for ACD to start with. ACD isn’t much help at tracking back.
  9. Let’s hope he’s learnt from that incident. Their guy would have been on a card and walking the tightrope if Gueye would have just picked himself up and walked away.
  10. Not for me. Leonard is nowhere near ready for a game of this magnitude. If we were playing anybody else I’d say “ Yes, let’s see what the lad can do “. This game is just too big.
  11. I hope Eustace has taken Gueye to one side this morning. We don’t need any more red cards.
  12. Cue the chicken chokers turning on their TV’s at 3-00 !
  13. Simone is too smart to go there.
  14. Playing the “ Tronstad “ role demands more than just physical ability it demands a great deal of football intelligence. You need to support attacking play as much as you can but you must never be caught on the wrong side of the ball. Avoid the temptation to run the ball out, always pass the ball. You have to be really disciplined, not everybody can play that role, you need a cool head. That way if the pass goes astray you are still in a position to halt attacking play by the opposition. It was significant that in the second half of the Leeds game Tronstad had a rush of blood to the head, got caught too far up the pitch, we lost possession , and Leeds nearly scored.

  16. They’ll have to play exactly like we did in most of their away games if they get into the Prem. If they don’t they’ll be straight back down again.
  17. I think Eustace can make a poor mans Travis out of him.
  18. Batth will “ quieten “ him. That’s if he plays. That’s a desperation signing if ever I saw one.
  19. That’s how it worked with the England team back in the day. The selectors chose the players and the “ manager “ had to get a tune out of them. That explains why second division Middlesborough had several players selected in the early 1960’s. The first thing Alf Ramsey did was tell the selectors to do one, he was selecting the players. That didn’t turn out too badly.
  20. He’ll have weighed that up by now. He’s got himself back into work and into the shop window. If he’s here this time next year I’ll be amazed.
  21. We had a more or less full squad to pick from then.
  22. They couldn’t care less. Anybody who can’t see that hasn’t been paying attention.
  23. I think you’ve just proved that.
