  1. Once I’ve had my knee transplant !
  2. You’ve got to get them playing in the first place. You need to nurture that live of the game. Even if it’s only coats down on the local rec. I only started going to Ewood regularly after I started playing schoolboy football. I live facing a very large common. On the other side of the common most people are of Asian heritage. Usually the kids playing on the common are from an Asian background and previously they were only playing cricket. However this year, for the first time, none of the kids are playing cricket. They’re all out playing coats down football every night. There are even some girls kicking a ball around. I don’t see the next Mohammed Salah out there but things are changing.
  3. I was only thinking that the other day. Damien Johnson was twice the winger Dolan will ever be and he was in and out of our first team back then.
  4. Great example. Both of them had that little trick that got them that yard of space. Once they’d got that the ball went. They didn’t try to make a meal of it like Dolan does from time to time.
  5. You don’t always have to be quick to play out wide but it certainly helps. I remember watching Rick Holden at Oldham and then City. Most games he wouldn’t actually beat the full back ever but he get that yard of space to whip over a killer ball every time. He had football intelligence and he played to his strengths.

  7. The scout was right about Dolan. There’s something in his mentality that is holding him back. His decision making is just the same as when he first played for us. He gets nearly as many wrong as he gets right.
  8. That just illustrates why trying to build a home grown team at our level is an impossibility. The best talent is spirited away before they’ve even played a first team game. What’s a million to teams like that, it’s nothing. You’re just hoping that you can keep a couple of late developers that slip through the net.
  9. Question Mark And The Mysterians - 96 Tears Where punk started.
  10. Are any of us really surprised. These are the people that thought they could run the club on an annual investment of £5 million when the bought Rovers.
  11. I just get the bus. A nice ride through some pretty bits of Lancashire.
  12. I went to both Bury games. The one at home we played like we’d been in the Bulls Head since the away game.
  13. It’s a bit of a graveyard for UK players. Not many succeed for long out there.
  14. I’d be surprised if a Premier League team was interested at the moment. Last season was a bit of a set back for him. Having said that not all Premier League clubs are thst flush with cash.
  15. My wife marks GCSE English papers. One year the subject the kids had to write about was a big decision they’d had to make. One kid wrote that he’d had to chose between staying at P N E or following his agents advice and moving to Spurs. So he had an agent at 16. The kid stayed at P N E but went on to have a long league career. He’s only recently retired I think.
  16. If you can’t win, you need to get a draw if you can. Yesterday we’d no chance of winning. We’ve had players in the past that would have got a draw in that game. Our current players had no chance.
  17. “ And things can move quickly in football “ ! Not at Rovers.
  18. They play that way because they lack the technique to play any other way. They try to make a virtue out of a failing. They’ll get well and truly shown up in Australia.
  19. Three batters got in today and then got out. We needed a couple of them to hang around. On another point neither of Duckett or Crawley ever look “ in “ to me. I always feel no matter what their score is they could be out next ball.
