  1. Exactly what my son said and he watched the game. I didn't but once I saw the team I knew it was going to be one of those days.
  2. How many of those games has he started in ?
  3. How much do you reckon Rothwell is worth ?
  4. Your views on the signing of the three players mentioned mirror mine, Armstong - good. Brererton - not good given the fee involved. Gallagher - why, especially when he 'd done next to nothing since leaving Rovers. However I've just been reading a very good article in today's " Guardian " regarding Klopp at Liverpool. His strike rate regarding signings is a lot better than 1 out of 3. We all know you live or die by your signings as a manager. I'd expect the average Joe Bloggs to get as many right as they get wrong. The Klopps of this world will be up around 75% if not more. I would suggest that a strike rate of 1 success in 3 signings would get you the sack at most normal clubs.
  5. Let me put it this way - If you had control of the signings Rovers make and a time machine, which ones of Armstrong, Brererton or Gallagher would you still go out and sign ? I'd have signed Armstrong given the relatively modest fee we paid. I wouldn't have signed the other two.
  6. We're not talking about buying vintage cars to put in a garage or modern art to hang on a wall here. We're talking about buying footballers to come into the club and have an impact.on our ability to win games. It's not solely about "investments " , it's more about scoring goals and putting in top performances. That has been lacking in 2 out of 3 cases. As for getting £15 million for Armstrong,. he's not even guaranteed a starting place at Rovers.
  7. I'd expect the manager of a team in desperate need of a new goalkeeper to be aware of the names of the most likely prospects as a minimum. In an ideal world he'd know everything about the likes of McLauglin etc. He's either lying to save face or he really is a muppet.
  8. I've only seen him once close up but like you I was amazed we'd signed him in the first place. A deeply average player.
  9. Jet 2 keep cancelling our flights to Spain, then they want to charge us a £35 fee for re-booking a new flight. On top of that they want to increase the cost of the new flights by £50 per person. Just because they're wearing a mask it doesn't mean they can rob people. According to my wife we are being charged another £135 for a problem that isn't of our making !
  10. It's pretty damning that Hart couldn't even get in the massed ranks of the bench warmers when both the recognised left backs were unavailable and a young utility player had to fill in there.
  11. Doesn't young Grayson also play centre half ?
  12. I'd honestly be delighted if he eventually comes good. Stranger things have happened before. However the point is/was that for the sort of money we paid out we needed a player that would hit the ground running and make an immediate impact. We didn't get that.
  13. It's ironic that we eventually managed to sign Gallagher. He's one I would have been quite pleased to miss out on.
  14. Another young goalkeeper on Brighton's books. He's been on loan at Rochdale this season.
  15. To clear one or two things up. I saw McLoughlin play once in the flesh and I liked what I saw. He's a tall unit, calm, agile and seems to be focused. If I was a Rovers scout I would have been going back to have another look or two before signing him. Maybe we did. From what I saw I think he could have been a good signing and I'm disappointed he's gone to Rangers. Somebody else mentioned Sanchez as being better than Walton. That's a possibility. I've seen Sanchez a few times and I think he'll go on to have a good career in League football. He reminded me a bit of Raya. Again a tall and agile guy capable of some terrific saves, and then like lots of young players, capable of the odd brain fart. I'm not a massive Walton fan, he wasn't an upgrade on Raya in my opinion. If Sanchez came it would be somewhat of a gamble given his age but the lad has ability.
  16. Exactly. How long have we been in for McLauglin ? It must be months. Gerrard must rate him even if some on this board don't.
  17. If there's any truth in that, with him being a Scot, I could see him ending up there. Steven Gerrard must rate him as a decent 'keeper.
  18. We might have been better off selling it to a bunch of 5 year olds.
  19. Anybody can be " badly advised " once but this lot have made a career of it. If I had more time I'd compile a list of all the terrible business decisions they've made at Ewood. It'd be a very long list spanning a lot of years.
  20. Wether you like Dyche or not you know where you stand with him.
  21. Terry Eccles was a centre half we converted to centre forward. He wasn't bad.
  22. Callum Camps, who people have mentioned in connection with Rovers in the past has been released by Rochdale. It'll be interesting to see where he ends up. They've also released their long time leading scorer Ian Henderson. Henderson would have been a decent signing when we were relegated but that ship has sailed.
  23. " Could ", " Some ", " May ". Just setting the scene for the next U turn.
  24. I feel it'll be like eating a toffee with the wrapper still on or, as I said a while ago, kissing your sister.
