  1. My prediction: 5-0 to Rovers. Bellamy (2), Dickov (1), Emerton (1), Pedersen (1).
  2. 'Fess up. Who wrote in to F365?! http://www.football365.com/opinion/mailbox/story_173409.shtml
  3. A rare bit of sense from Football365. They are usually notoriously anti-Rovers.
  4. I can't agree with that. I had a careful look at the replay from behind and I am 95% certain Westerveld would not have got there in time for that. The defender was also very desperate to get that ball and did a brilliant job to make the interception. Emerton probably should have directed it into the right side but it was a very tight fit which I don't think many players would get. I also think it particularly harsh that you pick on Emerton for that when there were a couple of others at the very least who far more guilty of poor awareness. Dickov being one when he was on the break (in the first half?) and took a very weak shot which went straight and very softly into the arms of Westerveld. Savage being another when he missed that sitter. There probably are more that I can't think of from the top of my head.
  5. I watched this game on television "down here" and was well pleased with the result. There was no stand-out individual performance, but it was a mostly discplined performance but not too pretty performance (what happened to the brilliant passing game?) that deserved the win, barring the last 20 minutes of the match. Mark Hughes (9): He got his tactics right today/tonight. We kept tight at the back, let slip a goal that should never have been, and only seemed to let our guard down in the last 20 minutes, which was purely lost concentration on the part of the players. Friedel (7): Did not have too much to do. Nearly stuffed up in the last twenty minutes of the game. He came off his line and was running all over the place in an 18 yard box scrap. Neill (7): He did nothing wrong as far as I could see. He did not give the team much in attack because Bentley ignored him 99% of the time and did not use him, which was a real shame. He is a pleasure to watch going forward. Khizanishvili (7): Did his job. Nelsen (7): Did his job. He was the victim of poor refereeing when he conceded the free kick (for handball) that led to the early Portsmouth goal. Matteo (7): He did his job. Bentley (6): Contributed little to the team's overall good performance. (1) He ignored Neill 99% and seemed to flatly refuse to link up with him. (2) Counter attacks ended with him (badly) and attacks lost momentum because of him, mainly because (3) he never seemed to know what to do with the ball. (4) His work rate was the polar opposite of the rest of the team (the team's work rate was superb). (5) He lacked any sort of penetration. Reid (7): His powerful drive forced Westerveld to spill his shot which fell for Dickov to slot away. Savage (7): He did his job, but lacked penetration in attack. He missed a sitter in the dying minutes of the match. He was clear but off-balance and should have left it for Emerton. I have also noticed that he gets forward far much more now. Pedersen (7): His overall game was better than I have seen him in the past. He gave the Portsmouth defence something to think about and he topped his well-rounded performance off with a brilliant free kick goal to boot. Dickov (7): His closing down caused the Portsmouth defence all sorts of problems. He also contributed much to the attack and cleverly poached a goal via a Reid shot at goal and a spill by their goalkeeper. Kuqi (6): He was out of the game. There is not much more to add. Emerton (7): Came on as a substitute for Bentley and made a crucial interception in defence to what could have been a goal scoring opportunity, while having a very good attempt at goal at the other end which was only stopped by desperate defending. Bellamy (7): Caused the Portsmouth defence all sorts of problems in the last 25 minutes, like Dickov did in the first 65 minutes. However, Dickov did it by closing down, while Bellamy did it more via pace on the ball. Tugay (6): He came on in injury time as a time wasting measure. He gets a default rating. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed watching Rovers. It is a pleasure to watch the blue and white halves these days. I never feel like we are going to concede, a feeling that I never lost, even in the last 20 minutes of the match, while I had full faith in the boys making a comeback when we were behind. Despite what one or some have said, I thought we thoroughly deserved our victory. Yes, Portsmouth could have easily scored one or two and made the result very different, but no, we had the same sort of story in the first half when we could have easily put another one or two in ourselves plus the second half Savage sitter.
  6. I'll take anything. I'm Rovers-starved! This should be an easy win for us. We really do need to finish teams like Portsmouth off if we want a European place. A 2-0 win to us with MGP and Bellamy bagging the goals is my prediction.
  7. Are there any goal highlights floating around on the internet?
  8. I'm listening to Century FM, to a through-and-through Middlesbrough programme, and it's all doom and gloom from the talkback. They're absolutely devastated. Their season is in the pits and they've lost to a team that have had "nothing" spent on them. Good one Rovers for sticking it up to this lot who look down on us (at least the fans).
  9. 2-0. Don't doubt Sparky, fellas. We can play just about anywhere these days and have a reasonable expectation of picking up some points.
  10. Jansen could end up playing on the left as well. There seems to be a few spots up for grabs, and you never know. And stuff all you miserable people. We're gonna win 2-1. Get in!!!
  11. He started and played most of the minutes against Bolton earlier this season. He started unexpectedly then, at least for me, and I see no reason why he cannot start tomorrow when there are two positions to be filled with three players contesting for a spot. Plus the right-back vacancy could see Bentley playing elsewhere. Of course, Hughes could go for a 4-5-1, but I doubt it.
  12. More great news for Big Club and tired old Bruce: 'Bizarre Bruce loses confidence of players' Birmingham City players are reportedly losing confidence in their manager Steve Bruce after a series of bizarre decisions. Read on... Oh, how my heart bleeds!
  13. Yes. Although like all of the players on the Germany national team, he has a made-up name (which is easily changed), and there was an effort to make his face unlike his real-life face. The stats and other such information is OK, though.
  14. I always thought a good game of virtual football didn't let gameplay dominate how a user plays. Rather, the good game lets the user decide the speed at which they play.
  15. I'm going with a 1-0, with Jansen scoring the winning goal! You never know, do you? There was a match last season where I predicted an MGP goal in a 1-0 win when he was not even getting any game time and I was 100% on target.
  16. Does anyone here have tips on scoring more and being more efficient with the ball? I've played several games now (okay, five matches, we're keeping tally) against a family member and they have won them all. In my last match, despite having more shots (27 all up for me to their low twenties) and more shots on target (15... they were in the early tens), I can still only score one goal to their six goals. It seems no matter what I do, even when I am playing all over the top of them, I never get my just reward. Instead I am punished, whether I play a defensive game, an attacking game, or something in-between. I haven't tried changing formations yet at this early stage, although that was something I tried regularly with failure in Pro Evolution(click) Soccer 4 (believe it or not my PES arch nemesis used to get spectacularly beaten regularly in PES2). I alternate playing as Blackburn Rovers (against Chelsea) and Germany (against Italy). I have no complaints if I get soundly beaten with Rovers, considering the large gap in quality between the teams on the game, but with Germany I expect something a little better. The last 1-6 scoreline, in which I dominated and still lost, was with Germany. Is there any advice for my bemused self, after sniggering, apart from changing to different, stronger teams?
  17. A very Northern mind with a very Southern interpretation. That example is supporting the hypothesis that referees are biased and potentially corrupt. Maddening, isn't it, that he never mentions all those other games where we get ripped off, nor bothered defending us when the referees had us marked down as a dirty team and acted accordingly?
  18. That is an automatic fine right there. If memory serves me correctly, this is only the second time in Mark Hughes' tenure that we have won after going behind. The last match being against Charlton in the last Carling Cup match to win by the same scoreline, 3-2.
  19. 3-2 Krislu. That is all. WELL DONE ROVERS! Well done Matty Jansen for getting a grain of game time.
  20. Bring on Matty! Didn't know he was in the squad, otherwise I would have been on here predicting a hat-trick for him in this match.
  21. Score: Rovers 5 - 0 Everton Goal scorers: Emeron (2) Savage (2) Todd (1) Attendance: 22,000
  22. Rovers for the win. 5-2! Bellamy (2) Pedersen (1) Emerton (1) Jansen (1)
  23. Does anyone know which channels worldwide this match is going to be shown on?
