  1. Ah, two interesting comments there. The first certainly holds true for this season. Your second comment is a funny side note. Not picking on you though, because I did think we couldn't and shouldn't play a 4-4-2. Anyway, I decided to bump this topic because it is so similar to the Portsmouth thread. And because I haven't been able to find that other thread where some user with very few posts jumped straight onto the relegation bandwagon.
  2. I remember someone coming on last year and starting a thread to say we would be relegated! Wonder if they come back.
  3. Aye, he needs that extra space that right-back would bring him and he's finally seen sense that he should let the manager have all the say in the position he plays that suits the player and the team, not give an ultimatum of sorts to play on the wing which doesn't do the manager nor himself nor the team any favours. I'm sure we'll see him excel in Europe, should the team do a bit of progression, rather than getting knocked out very early.

  5. Embarrassingly, I've posted in this topic, where you can find the original creator of the song.
  6. It's the Blackburn Rovers Pravda attempting some sort of evil brainwashing again.
  7. Simply The Best is associated with rugby down here, so that's a no go for me. Europe - The Final Countdown gets my vote for the song to walk out to.
  8. Wasn't it "Zura" that they rejected, not "Zurab"?
  9. Jeffers is small... erm, hardly the biggest of crimes. I didn't know their was a height quota when it came to rating strikers. I can't say much about the air, because I haven't followed his career closely, but he scored a brilliant header in his England debut, if I can remember correctly.
  10. Sounds a lot like the excuse the Australian media have been cooking up, nevermind the English. Anyway, I thought it was a good World Cup. I suppose it helps a bit that there was a buzz in this country about it for once, [insert many curse words here]. I was also very impressed by Germany and Italy and I got to watch most of their matches. I hand-picked the matches rather than try to watch as many as I could, so I probably missed out on the dire affairs. Good thing. Plus I enjoyed learning a bit about Germany and its culture, especially since I do German history at uni.
  11. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=js0vOgjBfD8 Solve your problems the Zidane way!
  12. Aye. My initial reaction (before seeing the television replay of the incident) was that it was a dive and a straight yellow card for simulation. There was a clear call in the second half, though, so fortunately things evened themselves out in the end. Good on Italy for winning, I suppose. They were the best team of the tournament, although not by a mile. It was a shame about Germany and Argentina. I always thought a European team would win it, but Italy wasn't one of them. And neither were France or Portugal. Zidane tickled my Real Madrid/Francoist hating funny bone with that headbutt of his.
  13. For "wops", check http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wop#W. I always understood it to mean "Without Papers", because I first came across the term in an American historical paper, but it's a bit more complex than that.
  14. Same. I'm shattered that I can't show off my future Rovers shirt with a world class name on my back. Will have to wait it out to see who to go for now...
  15. Yeah, I didn't think Craig Foster's analysis after the game was fair. He said Poll was a total disgrace, which really wasn't the case, although he was fairly poor. And for those who watched the SBS broadcast: What was Les Murray doing letting a drunk Foster on TV? He was all over the place.
  16. Hee hee. What a referee. I wonder if there would have been a re-match if Croatia won after that D'Urso piece of refereeing. And what about Emerton? His performance just makes me think it would be stupid to get rid of him on the cheap. Someone just needs to pull his head him; tell him to swallow his pride and admit that he isn't a right rightmielder, but rather a versatile player who can play right wing back. He would look good at right back, one because of his work rate (which would help defensively), and two because he has space for attacking, which he doesn't get playing further up the ground, where he obviously looks cramped. He could be the one to contest Lucas Neill's spot. I wouldn't mind seeing him tried in the centre of midfield either, either defensively or attacking - for a tryout, that is.
  17. Well, deleting fake.inc seems to be the way to go with the first query.
  18. Does anyone know how to fix the Germany national squad problem? I've done it before, but completely forgotten and I can't find the instructions again. Also, what is the correct way to keep Harchester out of the game? Just keep the default options? I had the team and players in there last time.
  19. Yeah, they should be hounded to the ground like that dirty Blackburn Rovers team. Who the hell gave this small time team the right to be competitive against the big boys? It's downright scandalous!
  20. I had the same idea. Have to say that Australia is making a good account of itself. Granted, Brazil did cock up two chances, the first by Ronaldinho tripping over his own feet, and the second by Ronaldo missing the ball when shooting. But they are defending well and Emerton has contributed a lot both defensively and in attack. Viduka's holding the ball up well. The referee is very technical with his foul calls at times. Australia has barely had a set piece that hasn't ended in a foul for shirt pulling or a bit of pushing. Why? I think his superstar status is serving him well and he won't be dropped for this tournament, unless he has a very disastrous performance. He probably deserves to be dropped, but he won't because he's living on past glory. Not that he is a terrible player. He has been very smart and skillful this first half, even if lacking in movement at times.
