A very bold move by Hughes if indeed true.....I believe the manager should be backed to the hilt in his quest to find the right personnel for Rover's future,we need to move forward on all fronts. It had been argued many a time on here as to whether 'Mr untouchable' Parkes should be shown the door and fresh impetus given a chance..look's like somebody's finally been brave enough! Thank you Tony Parkes for your service to B.R.F.C.

Are you joking mate? Take away the so called 'sympathy vote' for Latheron and compare his record at Rovers to others now in that list..they dont come close. In my opinion a vote for either Atkins,Sherwood,Barker or Parkes ahead of Latheron is a vote of complete ignorance of fact.

I know who I'll be voting for as my second....the likes of Sherwood and Atkins dont come close to this fellas record at Rovers!!

I would have thought that in our present dire situation the players we need the most right now are the confident and big-headed type -

1-1....a trip to Carrow road has never been one to look forward to as long as I can remember. Did you know that Norwich originally started out with the same kit as Rovers! -

2-1 Liverpool, no doubt Rover will give their all but the quality is just not there anymore. -
There are two players in the list that stand out amongst the rest....... Ronnie Clayton and Eddie Latheron.I have a feeling Clayton will win this but Latheron should be given special consideration I feel........ Edwin Gladstone Latheron was born in Grangetown,North East England and joined Blackburn Rovers in 1906 almost by accident. He was discovered when visiting Blackburn to play for Grangetown against Blackburn Crosshill in an FA amatuer cup tie.Rovers had originally gone to watch another player but it was Latheron who caught their eye and Rovers paid £25 to bring him to Ewood! A skilful inside forward who, despite his lack of height, was good in the air he possessed fantastic ball control coupled with a fine shot on him.... he quickly established himself as a fans favourite with the Blackburn public.A prolific goalscorer himself, he was claimed never to be a selfish player and always prepared to do the 'fetching and carrying' for other team mates. Without question a driving force(alongside Crompton) behind the all conquering pre war Rovers Championship sides of 1912 and 1914 he was capped twice by England and represented the football League. At the height of his powers Eddie played his last game for Rovers on March 17th 1917.Five days later he went to fight for Queen and Country in the trenches of France and tragically just seven months later he was killed by a German shell. He left a widow and a young child.....he was just 28. Played league football for Rovers between 1906-1915, made a total of 282 appearances in all competitions and scored an impressive 104 goals. http://www.cottontown.org/Nimoi/sites/CT/r...ces/jb08178.jpg http://www.cwgc.org/cwgcinternet/casualty_...asualty=4032402

I totally agree that our present problems are not the making of Hughes but I must say that I am now of the opinion that we may well have to go down and start all over again. Again I ask the question, Why have our players not responded to the appointment of Hughes?...... -

Have said the same for ages...give the Blackburn End back to the hardcore supporter. Excellent post Alan75, you sum up the feeling's of many as to why a trip to Ewood has lost its spark for an ever increasing number of fan's. To compare the atmosphere of the now Ewood to that of the heady day's of Shearer etc is very painful. The buzz and expectancy before the game's back then was simply tremendous, you would hear the Blackburn end singing and chanting before the players even entered the field of play......now its a half hearted round of applause at best. -

I am led to believe that John Williams does read this mb from time to time. There are now 6 page's to this thread of Rovers fan's who have grave concern's about the events of Saturday gone and are clearly worried that these problem's with heavy handed stewarding and policeing could badly escalate in the very near future. All I will further say on this matter is that if no reply is forthwith,if you act like those oh so wise monkey's with your ear's,mouth's and eye's covered and simply refuse to listen to the supporter's who remain the REAL lifeblood of this famous old club then those people to whom it concerns at Ewood should not be in the positions they hold. DONT TREAT THE FANS WITH CONTEMPT. -

I'm sorry to say Colin but if you have away fans literally feet away in the home fans section and deliberately being provocotive just what the hell do you expect the reaction to be....give them a friendly wave and send them a round of drinks? What we need is a simple explanation from the club as to why this standing rule is not equally enforced with the away fans, that is all we ask. We wait with baited breath.................................................................... -
At present his summery is not far off the mark.....you have to swallow your pride sometimes FLB.

Surely the company which leases the box in question should be brought to book. They allowed a bunch of drunken smoggies to goad the fans directly in front of them in the BBE, resulting in a potentially dangerous situation. Put another way, it seems to me that the Boro "fans" in the corporate box incited a response from the supporters in the BBE, and disorder then followed. Incitement to disorder is a criminal offence, as is facilitating such incitement. Does anyone know, or have any way of finding out, to whom the box belonged? Good call Morph,to put away supporters(even if they are behind glass) literally feet away from the home supporters in the most partisan section of Ewood is foolish to say the least. -

From my seat in area NO4 I didn't see this incident but I'm bl00dy furious at the news The atmosphere is bad enough without this sort of provocation..... Like I said on the safe standing thread I'm slowly losing interest and matters like this only help to compound this feeling!!!
