  1. If it weren't for the drums, Ewood would be one of the quietest places in the premiership!
  2. I was disappointed when we first signed Todd but last season I gladly ate my words - he was quality then and he's been a solid player this season. He was awesome against Arsenal yesterday (I wasn't at the game but MOTD showed some of his important challenges)!
  3. You can watch a lot of the games live iton the web, well actually there's usually a delay of about 10 minutes but it's as near as damn it. You can get all the details on eBay actually. It's usually sold as "live premiership football free" or something like that. Most sellers on eBay will email you all the info and the website where you get the video feeds for a fee of usually about £2. It sounds suspect I admit but my mate did it (I was there with him so this is not second hand info) and they give you the web address (which is actually more like an IP address e.g. 192.168.2.1/xyz/xyz.htm - can't remember the actual address or I'd just give it to you) and when you go there you do not need to sign up or anything, there is just a list of all the football matches available at that time and you just click on the one you want. It loads up in Windows Media Player and bob's your uncle. I remember watching our second encounter with Spurs on it last season and one of the Chelsea games.
  4. I've gone for "poor standard of entertainment" but this very closely linked with the other (currently) leading vote "overpriced tickets". If the entertainment was better then the tickets wouldn't be overpriced but for the current level of entertainment, the tickets are way overpriced.
  5. With the players in their squad they should be consistenly in the top six and having a go for the fourth Champions League place. They are the most underachieving team in the Premiership yet somehow I still fear they have the quality to put three or four past us. 4-5-1 will be needed but we MUST play Tugay again. Let's have none of this nonsense about Dickov playing behind Kuqi in a 4-5-1 formation please. We must be confident of getting a draw with it being a homegame and we should really be looking for a good solid defensive display and trying to nick a goal on the break. Fingers crossed for 1-0 to Rovers but my prediction is 1-1. I don't think we'll lose so long as the defensive don't lapse - we can't afford to take our eyes off Defoe for a second.
  6. Don't kid yourself mate! Spurs are much better opposition than Fulham but they won't attract 25000 to a late match. There won't be many from the capital there either as it would be so late returning home. 20000 would be a very good crowd after the last one.
  7. A few years ago they had a good thing going with 1000 £10 tickets for every game. It brought in an extra couple thousand fans - those that had queued for 45 minutes only to be told there were no £10 tickets left all bought a more expensive one so as not to have wasted so much time queueing and obviously there were an extra 1000 happy fans even when we lost, at least they got value for money.
  8. Don't want anyone as dopey and confused looking as this to play in at Ewood again (and he's no good at football). Hope he enjoys his loan spell at Leeds and doesn't come back.
  9. It's a very good idea and people have asked me recently if I would begin attending regularly again if the club offered cheaper tickets for students - again a good idea. But the biggest cost for me is not the ticket for the game. It would cost me £70 alone for my return train ticket to Blackburn from uni in Southampton. For those fans (like me) that now live away from the area, it's travel expenses that limit our appearances in the stands. It is all comes down again to the fact that Blackburn is a small and poor town with a small population, unable to sustain the gates necessary for long term Premiership stability.
  10. And you think selling our best players is the way forward? What are you, another Souness? Southampton have a much larger fan base because it is a much larger city, as is Coventry. You are only helping the point you are arguing against - you need a large fan base to survive at this level and that only comes from a large city. I agree with you however that by and by we are far better off financially than any three of the promoted teams and have no excuse for not cutting it above them, but you're stabbing yourself in the foot with that last point. Besides, to survive above the three promoted teams, we need to win all those games. Need I remind you we got thrashed by West Ham?!
  11. I guess the biggest problem is that with football being so expensive to watch now, it's an awful lot of money for most people in Blackburn (it is afterall a very poor town) and it's just not worth the disappointment and boring displays week after week. It will take a long time to bring back previous crowds but the push must start on the pitch. A successful season is needed - a good cup run and a top half finish should get the town more excited about the beautiful game. The reason I no longer go however is that I've moved away from the area (all the way down to Southampton infact) for university. I only managed to get North on a limited number of occasions last season but made sure that those weekends coincided with Rovers' home fixtures. I also made sure I was at the Southampton and Portsmouth away games but even those few matches were very hard to do due to tight student finances and I only got value for money once. Devastated that Southampton got relegated though - that was gonna be my highlight of the season. EDIT: It no longer applies to me as I will probably be unable to make the games but it used to make me sick to the teeth when our average gates were around 21000 and I could get a seat anywhere in the ground and then it was a sellout for the games against Arsenal/Liverpool/Man U/Chelsea and I couldn't get a ticket for love nor money. It's not that those "extra" fans don't attend smaller matches that bothers me, it's that they occasionally stole my seat at the bigger games that I couldn't et a ticket for!
  12. I don't like the 4-5-1 formation and never have. I think it's too conservative and puts the players in the wrong frame of mind to go forward much and take risks but if it continues to get results like this one then I'll be happy. If we do continue to play 4-5-1 then I want to see Bellamy play instead of Kuqi NOT Emerton. Tugay was the difference between this performance and that of a week ago. I know MGP and Neill were great (and the rest of them for that) but Tugay is a fantastic ball player with a pin-point precision pass whether it's 10 or 40 yards long. Can't wait to see him playing through balls and long ones over the top for Bellamy to run onto. If theres one man who can put the ball right where Bellars wants it then it's Tugay. PLEASE don't drop him when Bellamy returns! They will be very exciting playing together in the same team.
  13. Are you having a laugh?! If that happens, the premiership becomes the championship, the championship becomes league one, etc. and the same will happen with every other European league. There will be no more television revenue and large sums of money for positions within the league. A European super league will ONLY benefit the teams that get into the league - EVERYBODY else will suffer.
  14. It's an awful lot of money for a football game, and certainly not worth it to see Rovers. Chelsea offer much more entertainment and it follows that tickets would be more expensive but I imagine a lot of Chelsea fans are unhappy at having to pay prices like those to see their team challenged by Rovers. How many seats have we got? I'd be very surprised if more than 1,500 fans make the journey south. Add the train fares to the already ludicrous ticket prices and you've got yourself a luxury weekend break in the Lakes!
  15. If we lose against Fulham and Spurs we will have picked up no points from the first three games and relatively easy games compared to other opposition in the league. You think the players will still have a bouyant and optimistic attitude? Morale will be rock bottom if we lose our next two games and it will be very hard for the players to recover quickly!
  16. So you think after yesterdays performance that Todd is good enough and we have no defensive worries?
  17. If he hadn't risked Bellamy you'd be slating him for picking Dickov over him, saying even on a bad day Bellamy is a better footballer. At the end of the day, Hammers fans will have been more confident of winning the game than us probably. We were a poor side last season, have a poor record against the Hammers and have only signed two players to change that, one of which came from the league below. Not to mention they were at home. I was expecting a draw in all honesty and didn't expect the players to perform to their best. I hope they can pull something back against Fulham though or else we will be in for a long hard season again.
  18. Pedersen, average? What have you been smoking?! He is a quality player and would walk into many other Premiership teams!
  19. All through summer many people have been saying how Mokoena is good cover at the back which I have denied as he is so inconsistent and makes far too many mistakes. First game of the season he defends atrociously... thank you! EDIT: Not to mention Todd.... I have said a few times that he is not to be relied upon. He has only ever played consistently for half a season, once in his entire career. Not a bad squad player but anyone with Todd as a first choice defender is in trouble. We must bring in another defender soon!
  20. thenodrag - the 2/3 of people that you talk about wanting free this and free that and claiming benefit are doing this because they have no money. Blackburn is a very poor town and most of it's population simply cannot afford to watch live Premiership football regularly. And at the end of the day, it WAS only a friendly and as far as Rovers' friendlies go, that crowd was not so bad. Now I'm not saying that we don't have a problem attracting crowds (because we do) but you are making a song and dance about a friendly game at the time of year when most people are on holiday abroad anyway and are too busy enjoying the sun to give thought to a practice match with meaningless results.
  21. I don't think Arsenal will suffer as badly as many make out at the loss of Vieira. Arsenal have other quality holding players in their squad already such as Gilberto and Vieira isn't a great box to box player which is what he has been trying to do for the last two years. I reckon Wenger will be praised for having sold Vieira in a year or two - Vieira is aging and his value is plummeting. For a player of his age, his transfer fee was massive and it wouldn't have been half of that if sold a year later. Chelsea to win the league obviously, Arsenal, Liverpool and ManYoo fighting amongst themselves for 2nd, 3rd and 4th. The rest down to the bottom five could go to anybody and is impossible to predict. I reckon we'll see Sunderland, Leicester, West Brom, Wigan and Fulham in the bottom five. Fulham will stay up but it will be close, of the other four I can't yet say who will go down.
  22. Oh dear, my heartfelt sympathies to you! Can I ask which one?
  23. It just goes to say something when players rated as "some of the best in the world" (e.g. Ronaldo, Henry etc.) are complaining about playing against us (or more specifically Savage and Dickov).
  24. It's stabbing in the dark that has you buying shirts with Grabbi and Amoruso printed on the back!
