  1. Having inspected dillo dillo's fancy diagrams I expect things will finish up pretty much how they are now, with Arsenal moving up above us into 5th and us finishing 6th. I think Bolton will stay in 7th.
  2. I still don't think we'll finish in 4th. Spurs are still doing fairly well, Arsenal have hit form, and Bolton are in an excellent position with two games in hand. There's also no guarantees of us winning enough of our remaining games with our horrible form away from home (bar the north east). But at the end of the day, anywhere in the top six would be excellent given our position this time last year and I will be pleased if we're in the EUFA Cup next season. That said, I really hope we can push to them all right to the wire and with a little luck we may finish 4th!!!
  3. Sounds like your mates (like many others not worthy of mention as "fans") are just looking for an excuse NOT to go to the football as they would rather spend their money on fags and booze - far too many people like this who call themselves 'real fans'. If they did want to watch Rovers they would not have to pay £30, tickets at Ewood are available much much cheaper than that and for the majority of games it will not cost more than two or three quid more than £15 (the reported price of going to watch Stanley next season). Besides if they only go to a few games a season anyway then they aren't regulars who are going to stop going to watch Stanley instead.
  4. I don't think Matteo is much better than some of the younger players in the reserves. Certainly not deserving of large wages. Wouldn't be displeased to see him leave on a free.
  5. Yeah I also think that if giving the job to big Sam means giving Nolan a chance to play for England then all the more reason to give Sam the job. Nolan deserves a shot in an underperforming England central midifeld and it's Sven's failure not to have given it to him. edit: the style of player Nolan is, he could play with either Gerrard or Lampard.
  6. Graeme Le Saux - lovely bloke but I always think he sounds bored on Match of the Day!
  7. Undoubtedly one of the most consistent and confident full backs in the league. He rarely has a bad game, even when everyone else underperforms he's usually the one who has given it his all! We have to get him signed up - he will be asking for considerably less than the likes of Gary Neville and I believe he's a better player! We could never find a replacement of the same calibre within our tight budget.
  8. I think Pearce lacks experience but he is undoubtedly capable of motivating some of our players to play to their full potential. I don't think Curbishley has any ambition and that is not the sort of person I want to coach England. Rather old fashionedly I'd like to insist on us having an English coach do the job rather than a foreigner and at the moment I think Allardyce could do a great job. He's really brought Bolton forward a long long way in the last 5 or 6 years and has showed he can manage some awkward personalities like Diouf.
  9. I expect a very low attendance due to it being a bank holiday weekend (many people may be going away for a short break) and a school holiday (people taking kids on holiday) but mostly because it's on Sky. Being Easter Sunday, many people will have family commitments and so will consider it a blessing that the game is on Sky.
  10. 4th place is always Champions' League isn't it? edit: I remember a couple years ago when Liverpool and Newcastle played on the last day (or near to it) and whoever won would finish 4th and get into the Chamions League... Didn't Liverpool then go onto win the Chamions League in the following season (having beaten Newcastle to qualify in 4th place)?
  11. I don't think Arsenal will finish in the top four... I know it goes against a lot of opinions here but that's all my statement is too: my opinion so don't shoot me down. I can't see the top three changing between now and the end of the season and I think Spurs regrettably have finally started to reach their potential. I'm sure it will be close but I think Arsenal will be just short of Champions League qualification this season. Furthermore, as the table stands, we may only finish up 7th but if anyone had offered me 7th at the start of the season, I'd have bit their arm off, let alone their hand. As I understand it (admittedly I usually get this European qualification stuff wrong but here goes) 7th may be enough to get us into Europe... As Manyoo won the League Cup that means there's an extra EUFA Cup place in the league making the top 6, European qualifiers... now if the FA Cup finalists are both in the top 6 then another EUFA Cup qualification place will go to the league so the top 7 will then qualify for Europe... is that right?
  12. Was it Harry Redknapp who sold Rio Ferdinand to Manchester United? I knew the players agent at the time (we both went to the same school) and I don't want to make allegations but there was something not right about that deal!
  13. It was very bad timing to get such bad luck with the game against Spurs but unfortunately I can't see us finishing above them now. Now Arsenal look to have found some of their former style, and with Bolton having two games in hand, I think a top four finish is out of our reach. I'll be happy with 6th!
  14. Champions' League is very optimistic, I can't see us moving past Liverpool, Chelsea, ManU or Tottenham. I also expect Arsenal to finish above come the final day. With Bolton having two games in hand and looking very good at the moment, it will be very hard for us to stay above them. I think we'll finish above the Hammers though putting us in 7th. Nevertheless I had to be optimistic with my vote and I'm hoping we finish above Arsenal so I went for 6th!
  15. Rovers fans will NOT stop supporting Rovers just because a Stanley ticket is a few quid cheaper (particularly considering the difference in quality and entertainment). They may attend the odd match when Rovers aren't playing due to internationals and what not. It's like suggesting that we'll lose fans to Burnley if they ever win promotion! I beginning to have doubts about some of you lot but Rovers is in my blood, I love them and I would never stop supporting them, particular in favour of another club, even if Stanley were infact three leagues above us!
  16. I loved Dunn and I cursed Souness when he pushed Dunn out. Would love to have him back, especially for the £2mil price reported, only a fraction what they paid us!
  17. I am comforted only by the large number of people who completely oppose the statement made by this topic, the fact that someone felt fit to start this topic scares me!
  18. Morten Gamst Pedersen is widely regarded as one of the best left wingers in the league this season and I agree with the majority on that - he's awesome, we are very lucky to have him! We wouldn't be within 6 places of our current position without him and I believe we'd probably be in a relegation dog-fight. Peter is worth getting excited about because he looks confident and that really helps young players and it also shows the clubs intentions with young prospects but he's not nearly as good as Pedersen at anything yet. Nor do I think he will be as good in two years because Pedersen is still improving too - in two years Pedersen could be absolutely awesome!
  19. I was merely trying to offer a solution to those deluded few who are slating Andy Todd.
  20. I'm sorry but I have to disagree with you on that - Australia tend to favour a 5-3-2/3-5-2 (same thing, with wingbacks) with Neill at centre-back and Emerton wing-back. I know Aussie fans are delighted with the way both these players perform for their country so why not try Emerton at right back and Neill in the centre?
  21. From what I've seen he seems to know which direction he's gotta go beat his man, as for better than Pedersen... come on, are you serious? He's still young and you got to remember players like Burton O'Brien - potential superstars who stopped improving at a substandard point. It's too early to expect anything from Sergio and not fair of us to put that kind of pressure upon him. The fact that Hughes and the coaching staff have spoken about him a lot, describing him as a quality and still improving player is enough for me.
  22. Everyone has the same opinion about this don't they? We're playing well and in good form and hopefully will qualify for the UEFA place through our final league position. If we don't then it's the only way into Europe for us and being in Europe is essential if we are going to grow as a football club. Will anyone out there who would rather us not be in Europe than play in the Intertoto Cup please step forward...
  23. Every now and again he shows us remarkable pace, skill and a godly ability to hit a head with the football from 30 yards - the rest of the time he runs up and down the touchline getting in peoples way. Credit where it's due, he has fantasic ability and is never afraid to take on an opponent but he's got no consistency and for every good game he has half a dozen bad ones. I'd gladly take £2m for him, possibly less, especially since signing Bentley (not that I think he's a great player but he's no worse then Emerton - no point paying them both wages). I wouldn't mind seeing him try playing at right back though first, perhaps moving Neill to partner Nelsen in the centre. I don't think Zurab's good enough and Todd could lose his form as quickly as he found it, Neill could excel for us at centre back, he's never let Australia down in that position!
  24. Come on Stanley!!!! Them progressing from the Conference to League 2 will not affect our gates. No Rovers regular will ever stop going to Ewood because Stanley got promoted, only neutral fans might do that and I very much doubt that: why would a neutral fan want to see League 2 above Premiership?! And besides, how many neutral fans ever go to Ewood? None!
