  1. Eastham has gone out on loan: https://twitter.com/Rovers/status/1552987308546301952?s=20&t=V9gaESuCtiyghPiPnTgXCg
  2. I think it's two-fold: I'm excited by the calibre of player we've been linked to: Styles, Bowler, Davies, Ahmedhodzic - they would all walk into our first team and improve it. Generally I wasn't disappointed with the calibre of player Mowbray brought in (albeit Pickering, Hedges and Edun might be struggling to make the grade), it was more that he brought them in without a plan. We shifted from a possession based 4-2-3-1 to a direct counter-attack 3-4-3 (or 5-2-3 if you like) with a False 9 basically on a whim under Mowbray. Those obviously require completely different types of players. Take Clarkson and Giles last year - for both it felt like he just brought them in because he could get his hands on them. He ended up playing Clarkson all over the shop (including as a False 9) and Giles as an inverted Winger on the right hand side when he's CLEARLY a FB / LWB. I'm hopeful that JDT will operate to a structure and a plan, tactically to make the most use of our resources - which is what this Morton signing seems to be; a backup for Buckley.
  3. From the highlights I've seen he looks like he'll be Buckley's understudy - a deep lying passer from CM. If he's one of the four then yes we're really struggling. I do think it's a canny signing though if he's any good - Travis and Buckley can't play every game.
  4. I imagine it's much like Magloire - they've seen him in training for a month and decided he's not up to it. Shipped his wages out the door for 12 months.
  5. It's just depth, hopefully. Buckley and Travis being the two starters. Takes pressure off Wharton / Garrett (and I guess Edun?) to hit the ground running.
  6. Repay the club that found and nurtured him. Looks like Bellingham handled it the right way.
  7. I mean the PL submitted a proposal to turn the Championship, L1 and L2 into their Minor League clubs the other day. It's shit. Greed has ruined football I'm afraid.
  8. That's not how it works. It goes to tribunal, who determine the value of the player. They also add a sell-on clause and a training fee. If the compensation is £250k then either Spurs have someone on the tribunal, or he's not as good as we think. Also, as I've said previously, Phillips' mum will want to get off Twitter for a while if he shafts the club like this.
  9. That's a line the journalist has thrown in, not a direct quote from JDT. Sneaky, that.
  10. The last manager offered him a new contract. Baby steps.
  11. They don't mean anything. Wharton is 16, Brereton is 22, Dack is 23 etc, whilst Edun is 7. If Edun is a starter this year we're in trouble.
  12. Me neither. It is pleasing that JDT / Broughton have watched Magloire play / train for a month and thought "Nope", though.
  13. Looking at Twitter their fans rate him and are happy with the deal. I can't say I watch much League Two football, but I assume he can get by with his pace down there.
  14. They're all in on Kompany. Most relegated teams keep the core of their squad and bounce back. Burnley have sold anything not nailed down and reinvested it on cheaper alternatives.
  15. You can add her to TheRevAshton's "Shit anyway" list, for mine.
  16. Or maybe we don't value him at £1.25m (the current fee being bandied around on Twitter).
  17. I think we've peaked, lads. Making things up and putting them into a list to start an argument. Wonderful stuff.
  18. Lenihan and Rothwell were out the door before Broughton and JDT arrived. That's 100% on Mowbray and Waggot. If Mowbray was still in charge I'd be incredibly pessimistic about how the offseason has gone and about our upcoming season. If we hadn't signed Brittain I'd be worried - but that's a fantastic signing. Until our new dynamic duo prove us otherwise (and their CVs suggest they're both canny operators) I refuse to believe that we're up a certain creek without a paddle.
  19. Please show me which Championship club has all of it's transfer business done and the new signings embedded with the team in pre-season training. We don't sit at the top table anymore, so unfortunately these are the rules we have to play by.
  20. Agree to disagree. IF a decent portion of it is re-invested in the team it would be a sensational piece of business.
  21. The loan is on hold because he's covering for Liverpool in these friendlies - or at least that's what we've been told.
  22. I just hope it's long enough before the deadline that we can use the money.
  23. It's a bloody good sign that Malmo have regressed so badly without JDT at the helm.
