  1. This is the same gobshite chairman who wished Sammie and his wonderful family all the best a day ago, yeah? I'd take what he says with a grain of salt, he's all about self PR.
  2. He's not starting over Buckley or Travis - they're the first two names on the team sheet. There's plenty of minutes available in a 46 match season (squad rotation + substitute appearances).
  3. JDT isn't here to scrape along. He could be managing Champions League football. Brittain and Szmodic fit the type of player he wants. Morton seems like good cover for CM, but we'll see how that pans out.
  4. Exactly - I'd love to retain him, but if he's not willing to sign a new (sensible) contract then we HAVE to cash in before the window closes.
  5. Out of interest, have I missed JDT's comments on Szmodic? There was an article when Morton arrived (lovely boy, talented, Klopp is no fool etc), but nothing on Sammie.
  6. If we're back in for Peterborough players I'd want Ricky-Jade Jones.
  7. Society has made it much harder to get on in life at a young age. You can't buy a house at 20 anymore, not unless you're a footballer.
  8. Six more months? So that will be 30 months since he's contributed anything on the field then.
  9. Every time we've seen Dack since his second ACL injury he's been blowing out of his arse after 5 minutes. He can't press with the rest of the front 4 for 90 minutes. He has a role as an impact sub, but I wouldn't be shocked if they're trying to move him on.
  10. "Surprised by the transfer" Also "He's a great presser, he's a nuisance, he will harass defenders, he's good at linking up play - started the move for our 3rd goal at the weekend. He's a nice player to have at #10". Very strange interview, that.
  11. JDT doesn't want a high pressing game for 90 minutes. He wants his front 4 hunting in a pack, supported by the 2 CMs - but it's only when there's a turnover of possession, the idea is to win the ball back quickly. Otherwise we drop into a mid-block.
  12. No interest in that. Permanent or look elsewhere. He'd just be blocking Carter, Barnes and Phillips in that scenario.
  13. How did he make his money? His grasp of the English language is tenuous to say the least.
  14. How many can play the #10 role to a high level? Hedges is a wide player for mine (and a good squad player) - he showed that on Saturday. I've yet to see Markanday play, but I gather he's a wide forward too? Dack - I think that 'athleticism' comment by Broughton was about him. Dolan brings energy, but his final product is wanting at times. From what I've seen of Szmodics he's someone that plays with his head up and brings teammates into the game - we're crying out for that.
  15. This Watford - Sheff Utd game has been a shocker.
  16. They're going to have to start eventually - you can't ask Travis and Buckley to do 90 minutes twice a week in this system.
  17. We don't need a 'first pick' player in CM - those two spots are nailed down by Travis and Buckley. We need reliable depth for the grind.
  18. I must have missed Wharton and Garrett playing in the Champions League last season.
  19. Broughton has literally just said that they went with a loan so as to not block the path of Wharton, Garrett et al. Morton is further along in his development - he's started a CL match at the San Siro ffs - so it's a sensible deal whilst also providing the opportunity for Garrett, Wharton etc to grasp playing time with both hands.
  20. Not really - the CMs are pivots in this system. One isn't meant to be better defensively than the other - that's just what we have now in Buckley and Travis. Assuming they trust Garrett and Wharton (and I assume Edun), then Morton just adds depth to the position.
  21. I thought he offered nothing in attack too - but I suspect JDT wants his #9 to be a pressing forward. Vale can do that at least - he wants his front 4 to hunt in a pack for a quick turnover of possession.
