I think Hedges is who he is - you get that performance from him week in, week out. Good technically, quick enough and brave enough to provide width and take on his man, but his end product is poor. A good squad player, but you want much better if you're pushing for promotion. He's significantly better than Markanday and Dolan (out wide at least) though.

I think he's too quiet.

I also presume it's because we don't have a good set piece taker in the starting XI (and by extension the side). Unless you're just going to default to having Wharton take them all?

I think Szmodics is too much of a 'cheeky-chap' to be captain. Let him just get on with his game and lead by example, he's not the player you want representing the team. JRC would be my shout.

Yeah Hedges is better than Markanday and Dolan and should be starting over them. I assume JDT picked the same team (besides Tronstad) as they won the first game and he tries to reward that. He'll have to make changes for the next match, Dolan and Markanday offer very little out wide.

Yeah, Ennis is deceptively slow isn't he? I thought Hedges was fine - provided us with some width and control, but he's all left foot - and sadly it's not a wand.

A lot to be concerned about with the two goals we conceded - Szmodics gifted them the first and set pieces are clearly going to be our achilles heel. That said we absolutely put them to the sword in the second half. JRC has to play CM now for mine with Brittain at RB. I'd be looking for a RB in the transfer window - has that Colchester lad moved yet?

A point gained for mine - we're still two wide men short at a bare minimum (obviously one of them is sat in the treatment room with a groin injury). Hedges is no great shakes of a player, but he has enough pace and is willing to run at his man. He caused Rotherham no end of problems then - imagine if we had someone similar, but with an end product?

Nothing to do with being nice 'inoffensive' lads - the wide players just aren't good enough. Travis doesn't suit our style of play either - as you can see with JRC causing them all sorts of issues now.

Does Hedges ever go down the outside of the FB with his right foot? He's so easy to defend against.

He's not crap, he's just not technical enough to play in this system. He's a better player than Rathbone, for example, but cut from the same cloth - a niggly box-to-box CM.
