  1. We don't have enough CFs to offload anyway.
  2. It's quite amusing reading how much their fans hate the football they currently play. It's a results based business at the end of the day, but it's poor form considering they've outspent most of the rest of the division several times over.
  3. I'm for all of that except the last part. We can't afford to have him banned for 3 games.
  4. We literally beat them at Turf Moor if the linesman knew the rules.
  5. He puts Grella to shame if he's actually injured this much.
  6. Sadly it's not bewildering. It's clear they don't have the mandate to spend any money, so they'll be delaying everything until the next time the Venky's deem us worthy to communicate with.
  7. I've no doubt he and Garrett will be recalled shortly - surprised they haven't been already to be honest.
  8. Why are assists a flawed stat to judge a striker on? As for the rest, bearing in mind you'd start Weimann upfront against Burnley it's clear we want very different things from our CFs and are never going to see eye-to-eye on the matter!
  9. Someone makes themselves an Ewood Park legend if they snap his leg.
  10. He doesn't have any real pace - the mini-Saka comparisons are very apt. I can see him being a very good player in the PL for a top team - one that spends a lot of the game camped in the opponent's final third. In the Championship though he's simply not running away from many fullbacks and that's a problem for us.
  11. Incredibly there are still some that really underestimate the job he's done here. Our attacking options are woeful, absolutely woeful. Nobody in our front 4 on Weds would even get on Leeds' bench and we've taken 4 points from them this season. He's down to his last two fit senior CBs yet Pears has 10 clean sheets this season. The man is working miracles. Now maybe he's got a terrible eye for talent and if you gave him £5m he'd spend it on absolute dross, but that's about the only hypothetical criticism I can make.
  12. I guess it depends what you want from your players. I think Gueye leads the line well - better than Ohashi, Leonard and Gallagher (you can add Ennis and Brereton-Diaz to that list too from recent players). He's technically limited, but he puts himself about and brings others into play. To put it bluntly, the ball sticks upfront when he's playing and it gives us an added dimension. If we're looking at the stats, technically Gueye has 3 goals and 6 assists so far for us this season. Personally I don't think that accurately reflects his impact on the game, but it's a tangible stat to work from (i.e. no other CF on our books wins that header against Leeds [and I don't think JRC got credited for an assist either, even though it came off him].). If we're comparing him to, admittedly my least favourite Rovers player of recent times (Danny Murphy can no longer be considered recent), Gallagher's best season for us, when he was on loan, he had 12 goals and 3 assists. His next two best seasons he had 8 goals and 5 assists and 9 goals and 3 assists respectively. Right now Gueye has 9 goal contributions. During his best season here (when he was touted as the next big thing and ultimately Mowbray was suckered into spending £5m on him) Gallagher had 15 goal contributions. After that his next two best seasons hit 13 then 12. Barring injury I think Gueye will go on to eclipse Gallagher's best season here - probably quite comfortably. Obviously this all depends on how much you value assists - evidently you don't think cushioning a header into the path of Weimann warranted much praise, and that's fair enough. 'Old school' I think they'd call your thinking.
  13. Perhaps - but you have Gueye and Leonard in the squad. At least they can both actually play CF. Weimann can't.
  14. That's a terrifyingly bad forward line.
  15. Cantwell works hard - he's just not quick enough to track a FB up and down the line for 90 minutes, which is where the accusations of him not pulling his finger out come from. Against Hull, deep into the second half, he sprinted from his central position to track the RB (Dolan [I think] had floated centrally for an attack). He was well within his rights to just drop back into the defensive shape and let someone else pick up the RB, but he saw the danger and worked his socks off to cover. As for Buckley - he's just not good enough I'm afraid. He's a very talented footballer (although clearly he thinks he's far more talented than he actually is!), but he's a poor athlete and his attitude stinks. There's a reason Eustace is so reluctant to use him.
  16. I think he's a very good Championship RB - if you're not looking for said RB to get forward too much. He was poor at CB for us last year when called upon to play there.
  17. I was with you until the end - I think Baker is a very useful Championship player and he seems content to play second fiddle to Tronstad / Travis. I'd try to move Buckley and Sigurdsson on. I'd look to sell Dolan too if there's a buyer and the money can be reinvested.
  18. He didn't come and claim that cross at the end (the one where he collided with the Leeds player, milked it and got booked for time wasting) so he hasn't learned.
  19. I'm going to assume there are no credible transfer links? The window is officially open, our squad is decimated and we're a few goals outside of the playoffs. We should literally have players queued up at Brockhall right now for medicals.
  20. Poached? I think he'll be applying for jobs.
  21. He'll be exactly like Beck when pushed further forward - he can 'do a job' but he's a FB for a reason. Just sign a pacey winger - it's really not that hard.
  22. That looks like just shifting a team around to accommodate your favourites - and signing a player we don't possibly need.
  23. That question has been asked for years. Sold Gallagher, Ennis, Szmodics, Phillips, Kaminski and Raya for £40m+. We've spent buttons. It was always going to catch up to us. Eustace has just cut his cloth accordingly and made us very, very hard to beat. With the dearth in quality at this level you're always likely to get a chance or two to nick it from a corner / a defensive error.
  24. What about the additional 90 seconds he added on to the 10? The camera caught Eustace having a go at the 4th official on 98 minutes. He said "There's 2 minutes left, not 5". He knew what was going to happen.
