  1. It doesn’t bother me at all if people don’t watch. I just don’t get why it’s worth announcing.
  2. Pretty much the best team of those available: Johnson can score, head and tackle while Holtby can’t. 3-1 Rovers Aa an aside, I don’t get why posters come onto the match thread to announce they won’t be watching it. Who cares?
  3. Me too. The owners are immune to fan pressure and seemingly even relegations, so 350 repetitive pages on this thread by the same 30-40 people aren’t worth a damn. And the notion that he might resign from a well paid job in the top half of the championship is beyond fanciful. He’ll be here until he’s gone and the next bloke will be someone no-one wanted either.
  4. Douglas again. The limitations of this team being thoroughly exposed last few games. Rothwell is impotent against banks of 5 and 4; Holtby never direct enough; Gallagher can’t hold the ball up; Armstrong isn’t good enough for a quick first time passing game; Johnson too slow. We have been completely figured out now.
  5. Sounds to me like Ben isn’t fully fit either and, given there’s no U23 games for ages, players are doing their final stages of gaining fitness by coming off the bench. I’m also guessing Trybull was dropped for the visible dissent on being subbed.
  6. The fiver to get in! It was 2/6 when I first went.
  7. But being fiery and giving a damn didn’t stop them and their fiery manager losing by exactly the same score we did.
  8. It seems the only argument in his favour is he got into double figures three years ago - the only time in his career wasn’t it? Jon Stead got a bagful one year in the Prem but that didn’t prove anything either. Time to cut our losses and be thankful Armstrong and Brereton look like working out.
  9. Monumentally crap defending. Nyambe nowhere near his man for the throw and Rothwell, who is supposedly marking the scorer, isn’t watching either the ball or the man! He wouldn’t have beaten him in the air but should’ve impeded the run.
  10. Douglas and Gallagher are killing us IMO, neither is capable of getting past a man; Douglas always plays it back and Gallagher always loses it. If he persists with those two then the season is over. Johnson might solve our centre back issues though.
  11. Apart from him not bothering to mark up at the throw in that led to the goal. Bell would’ve been crucified for that.
  12. In hindsight, the Newell excuse sounds thin, we still had Speedie and Wegerle, both of who are immeasurably better than what we have now.
  13. Personally I think one win in 13 when you are top of the table, having spent more than the rest of the division put together signing five premier league players is worse than a mid-table team still carrying some League 1 dollopers losing one in 11.
  14. I’m not seeing the basic attributes to be good at this either. For 6’4” he’s ineffective in the air, God-awful first touch, no tricks and hesitates rather than gambles.
  15. I was there and me and everyone I was with were convinced it was all over. Mowbray’s bad runs had nothing on this one - from 6 points clear to not even in the top 6. Couldn’t see it turning around.
  16. He is. But nearer the box not so much IMO, time your run and there’s a good chance he’ll play you onside.
  17. I must disagree Tyrone. Although it was a hopeful ball into the middle, I thought as a side foot volley it was executed perfectly by Downing - most players would not have put that ball into exactly the right area.
  18. We aren’t going up with this defence though. Both Nyambe and Lenihan trotted out their most common errors in the same move: Nyambe playing the last man onside and Lenihan no idea where his man is.
  19. Well, as we all agree, performance counts for nothing, result counts for everything. The subs made a huge difference, but Downing especially, top quality with every touch.
  20. Douglas has to be the worst loan signing in a very long time, and I’m not seeing all these players who would be apparently powering us into the top 6 with another manager. Get some subs on at HT
  21. Very interesting perspective from an obviously smarter than the average footballer. His very different views of Hughes and Warnock were illuminating.
  22. Thanks for looking it up. When your main striker has a hit rate against better teams one-third that of against lesser teams, we clearly aren’t going to be promotion material.
  23. Being too idle to look it up, but would I be right in assuming that Armstrong has not scored against teams above us? He certainly has fired blanks in the last three.
  24. Going back to the original corner, there’s no doubt he was Williams’ man
