  1. He’s not very good at running past players near the penalty area - runs into traffic as often as not, and the not usually results in a rubbish shot.
  2. Was that away game at Derby when Parkes moved SuperAtko from fullback to centre mid?
  3. Clearly fell into our lap...
  4. They had done their homework on us I thought. Give Del all the time in the world on the ball, double up on Dolan but not on Nyambe. Equally, we used the press hardly if at all, maybe because they looked likely to play through it. Unlike past seasons, I think we’ll batter the poor teams but struggle to beat the good ones. Gallagher’s miss epitomised his failings: skied it because he was stretching, stretching because he was late, late because he doesn’t anticipate and gamble, he reacts. Dack would’ve tapped that in staying on his feet. The ongoing Nyambe love in really does mystify me, he is so poor in the final third. Plus I don’t think he has the speed of thought or guile to combine with Dolan, whereas JRC does. Rothwell’s shooting has been gash in every game so far. Given he isn’t in the team for his defensive side, he needs to be getting mid-high single figures goals a season, which I can’t see ever happening. Three clean sheets, defenders who yell at each other, and a solid keeper seems like night and day from the last couple of seasons. Keep that up and we’ll be in and around too 6 all season.
  5. A few players reverting to type: Bell creating breakaway attacks for them, Williams loose in possession, Rothwell running into trouble to name but three. Not convinced Nyambe is a good partner for Dolan, I don’t think he’s given him the ball once.
  6. Which, on the evidence to date, makes Mowbray and his team much better judges of players, yet you endlessly tell us they are useless. Why do you think we have signed two quality players from Europe if we have a useless scouting network, a useless manager and no money?
  7. Not sure we should’ve switched to 4-4-3 earlier solely to get him in his favoured position.
  8. He’s been more like the next Jimmy Edwards than the next Duncan Edwards.
  9. Our keeper impressed me though. On the slo-mo, even as Nyambe jumped and missed, his eyeline moved to be watching the guy behind so was well prepped for the header. I’m starting to think he might be our best since Brad.
  10. The change in playing style and personnel has really been remarkable since the days of Richie Smallwood and long punts to Danny Graham. Kaminski, Holtby, Dolan all have been magnificent upgrades and cost buttons. The current forward line has been eye-opening: Dolan has more tricks than Ronaldo, Armstrong fabulous pace and finishing, Brereton a bull running at defences - hard to see how a defence can keep all three quiet - and average age is what, 21?
  11. I think you’ve hit the nail on the head Tony, that’s all it boils down to, although I think who partners better with Dolan might be a factor. The fact he’s preferring JRC knocks on the head all the not upsetting Benno, doesn’t like youth nonsense.
  12. Amazing the number of up and unders played in these vids - never see them today
  13. What a cart horse Mowbray looked!
  14. Puts a good context to the “unsustainable losses about to precipitate a fire sale of players” we hear about each summer.
  15. One of an infinite number of alternate futures. If he had broken his leg in the first game we might have gone down etc etc
  16. I go back to 1968 and I can’t recall a more exciting teen league debut than this. Not just the goal, the penalty and the tricks, but the hunger for and care of the ball - best pass completion rate on the pitch!
  17. I’m enjoying seeing all the old grounds a lot more than I am our performances! Although Mimms was better than I had remembered.
  18. Wouldn’t disagree Tony, there’s usually two or three at fault for a goal. But if you are the last man back and you decide to step up for offside, you need to get it right. With his pace and athleticism, if he’d gone with the man I doubt there’d have been a clean shot at goal. I’ve never been impressed by his defensive brain and decision-making.
  19. 15-year unbreakable contract, free fish and chips for life from the Hake Boat and play whichever RB combines best with him.
  20. Am I the only one who thought his defending for Newcastle’s goal on Tuesday was pathetic? Plus, against a team who rely on long balls to a big number 9 and against who we expect to dominate possession, I’m not inspired by his one assist and no goals in 150 starts. Or maybe without Travis for him to pass reverse angle balls to from promising positions. Or maybe JRC and Dolan combine much better in training. Or maybe he just doesn’t fancy him. Anyway, I’m keen to see Dolan/JRC in tandem, could be the new Bentley/Emerton.
  21. Fabulous awareness from Garner for their 3rd. Was that also Nicky Reid of this parish?
  22. Blimey, in his highlights video from last night it’s like watching a young Ronaldo.
  23. I don’t get the groupthink on here that Nyambe is Premiership material, he doesn’t have a good defensive brain for me.
  24. Disappointing result but I liked a lot of what I saw. Kaminski looks a huge upgrade on Walton, plays sweeper and looks decisive, could even be a Raya with brains. Surprised no mention of Nyambe being awol for the third - I don’t mind Dolan trying tricks in their half, but that was not a situation for the RB to go charging forward. Dolan otherwise - fucking hell! Rothwell doesn’t get involved enough, Holtby is a 50-60 min player still, Johnson was OK I thought. Gave them a hard game and a bit of luck from Holtby disallowed goal, Dolan or Evans would’ve got us a result. Three unstoppable quality finishes from the Cherries - I bet we won’t see another three like that in a game all season.
  25. Up to 5th! This is our year...!
