  1. Help set up a goal three days ago?
  2. While I think his time is up due to his non-firing star strikers, it is noticeable oh here that issues labelled as clearly due to his incompetence never gets a favourable mention when they go away. I was struck by Sharp’s observation that we are only one of two teams to not let in any goals at all throughout the season after the 85th minute, whereas last season, when we constantly let in late goals, it was entirely due to a rubbish fitness regime and tactical incompetence. This seasons bête noir of giving away early leads I suspect will turn out to be mainly due to having a shite keeper than anything else.
  3. First off I thought they had a lot of players substantially better than ours, but for Walton making half a dozen good saves they’d have been out of sight. Fair do’s to Mowbray for taking Nyambe off, he offered nothing going forward and was getting skinned by their winger - at least Bennett played forward balls, contributing to our goal. Disappointed Davenport missed but he’d just sprinted 60 yards and put a hard shot on target, it’s not like he scuffed it or didn’t control it like our forwards are prone to do. I was impressed with him - looking forward to him and Savage Mk II being the centre mids next season. Holtby should’ve buried both his chances but made two bad decisions. Good point against the best team in the division, shame it wasn’t 3.
  4. He did indeed. He also said Brereton will be a top player, that Travis has learned a lot off Richie Smallwood and that Nyambe isn’t interested in joining shooting practices after training. Walton kept us in it with some sharp saves and I expected Danny to do better with our keg chance.
  5. Marauding but with no goals and one assist in a 100+ start career!
  6. He must not have seen him, he clearly had no idea Armstrong was legging it into the space.
  7. Respectfully disagree. Armstrong put in a 10-15 yard anticipatory run before the bloke had even decided where he was going to pass it. A classic example of “run to where the ball is going to be, not to where it is.” Also surprised so many think Graham played his normal game, which is farthest man forward borderline fouling the CH to lay off a long high ball. Particularly in the first half, he was coming short into the gap between midfield and defence, getting ball to feet, turning and passing. And very effective it was too, I thought.
  8. Several times he had an easy first time crossing opportunity and then passed back every time, so annoying.
  9. Really enjoyed that second half - love a come from behind 3-2 win and what a goal to win it. For all the thousands of pages of comments on here about Brereton and Gallagher, Dack and Armstrong might end up fetching double what those two dollopers cost. Not getting the Nyambe goodwill tonight, I thought he was pants going forward all night
  10. Close inspection of the second goal reveals Danny Graham tracking the fullback - great formation Tony - and the scorer clearly offside.
  11. Rovers trudged out like a hungover pub team with a 9am kickoff at Sett End, Cardiff came out like a team of professionals. Nyambe back to his ineffectual self with miss of the season, a complete unwillingness to cross with his right and zero ability in his left. Walton is now a guaranteed goal start and this sideways possession style guarantees supporter apathy. On the plus side, Rankin-Costello more than ready to be a starter.
  12. As a matter of interest, how many of Steve Kean, Henning Berg, Mike Appleton, Gary Bowyer, Paul Lambert, Owen Coyle and Tony Mowbray were on anyone’s list of desirable managers for a club with Premiership ambitions at the time they were appointed? Who is available now is clearly irrelevant to whoever picks our managers.
  13. How many ‘Mowbray: Stay or Go’ polls is it now? How many names a normal club with a normal Board and a normal desire to progress would want to hire have been punted? It’d be a lot simpler just to change the date on one of the old polls.
  14. My view at the beginning of the season was it all depended on Gallagher and Brereton working out - he spent almost the entire transfer budget on them so we needed 25 league goals from the pair and we’ve had 5 is it? Add in the fact Walton has been a catastrophe and we were goosed from the start entirely because of his transfers. Time’s up.
  15. Been doing it for two years. Two jinking sideways runs, which always look good, resulted in a dolly of a chip into the keeper’s hands and a soft shot yards high. Decent awareness to put the first time pass on a plate for that dolloper Gallagher to be fair.
  16. Ugghh. Shit pass from Rothwell to Travis, made him turn toward our goal which invited pressure, then a definite shoulder in the back of Travis. Gallagher first touch for the one-on-one was simply dreadful - too short, too wide when it just needed a simple push forward then bang. Game over from those two events.
  17. Rothwell and Bennett protecting our left flank - God preserve us!
  18. Something which does actually point to the conspiracy theory having some merit
  19. Agreed. I thought for the first goal there was a big Rothwell-shaped hole out on our left, giving the bloke tons of time and space to send in the early cross. He has no positional sense. He also starts as many attacks for our opponents as he does for us.
  20. I was thinking similar watching Garner score at the death in the home leg against Palace in the nostalgia thread: he was on the edge of the area and started his run toward goal before the cross even reached whoever was beyond the back stick, and ended up with a tap in all on his own from a yard out.
  21. Hopefully Smallwood’s contract extension was so he can come on in the last ten and take a red for Dacky.
  22. Sigh, that penalty! One thing these vids are doing is highlighting how much better a striker Simon Garner was than any of our current forwards.
  23. A bit harsh IMO, a hard low shot from distance across the keeper’s line of travel that needed a very sharp save.
  24. I thought he was unlucky: put in a real sprint to get a toe to the ball first but that put him beyond where the ball ended up. Slipping while trying to stop and turn around in a split second was just bad luck on what was clearly a very well watered part of the pitch given the goalie slipped soon after just taking a goal kick.
  25. If we’d just signed Evans and Brereton we’d be thinking we’d got two belters. Very enjoyable, comfortable, come from behind victory.
