  1. Not really, he’s been in the building 13 months. Plus, matching Brereton is the lowest of low bars. He’s not going to get any faster from now on.
  2. I won’t if you don’t ignore we are three points off the playoffs ? The poster said it was still a real thing.
  3. Nothing. I thought yesterday was just like his other few cameos this year: no greater pace that a typical fullback and no tricks.
  4. Not sure Benno would agree with you, 9 first teamers injured and he’s still a bench player.
  5. We are joint 4th highest scorers without any of those Tommy Lawton-type goals. Personally, I think it’s been a vintage season (vs recent years) for really good goals: belters from outside the area, shots from the D, and some really good fast first-time passing moves leading to goals. It’s no coincidence Danny Graham has hardly touched the ball, let alone scored for a while, we are playing a different game now.
  6. Even more amazing, to me at least, is that today’s starting 11 cost in the region of a paltry £2.3 million: 4 homegrown, 2 loans, 2 frees, 2 players signed in League 1, and a Newcastle reserve.
  7. Personally I don’t think Tosin is remotely ready defensively for the top end of the Prem. He loses his man too easily, did it again today with the free header Walton saved in the first half, Tosin didn’t even know his man had pulled off him. Walton was terrific today and one clean sheet every three games is pretty good by any standard.
  8. Consummate performance today, everyone played well.
  9. Best first half of the season for me. Everyone playing really well with special shoutouts to Walton, Johnson, Buckley and DomSam
  10. I think he’s dropped Bennett just so he can bring him on as first sub no matter who comes off... 0-2 - DomSam and Johnson
  11. Harsh IMO. The shot was on the turn from what, ten yards, and could’ve gone anywhere so no possibility of any anticipation. It was low and hard, a very good shot in the circumstances. If Tosin keeps allowing players to turn and shoot without any physical pressure, a lot of them are going to go in.
  12. Mono!! Easily the best of the lot....”Never give in, go out to win...” I think it started. Someone send Tony a disc!
  13. It’s a very small, incestuous circle so I’m not surprised there are ex-SEM people knocking about. The most thought-provoking fact for me is that Coyle and Mowbray, both left-field appointments to say the least for a Championship team, came from the same stable.
  14. I’ve liked Johnson’s heading capability (if nothing else) since his debut but, watching the goals again, they were both really good headers for goals 1 & 2, especially the cushioned header for Armstrong. Any other of our midfielders and that would’ve gone for a goal kick.
  15. Interesting looking at the league table after 31 games last year. This year We have one point more, have scored one more (despite being utterly toothless this year) but have conceded 9 fewer goals.
  16. Start bringing him in as sub and see how he goes.
  17. Personally I couldn’t stand to watch Johnson repeat his abysmal performance, so I’d stick Benno in centre mid. I might even try Downing as number 10 as he has by far the best shot from distance. Danny Graham to head it down to him, with Armstrong on the right and Gallagher in the left.
  18. In the real world, aims and objectives differ in that aims are aspirational, measured relatively and only broadly time-bound “We aim to be the world’s leading service provider by 2025” while objectives are usually more specific, time-limited and independently verifiable “Increase service level response time from 2 to 1.5 days by September 2020.” If you achieved all your aims this year, you weren’t aiming high enough. I would say out of Mowbray’s many mumblings, top 6 was an aim, better than 60 points an objective.
  19. When did you expect him to have us in the top 6? After taking over from Coyle in the bottom 3? In League 1? First season up go straight into the playoffs? The two teams we came up with haven’t as yet got near the top 16, let alone top 6. I’d hoped to be nearer the top 6 than we are this season, but the home losses to Luton and Charlton basically gave everyone else a six-point start. We’ve been playing catch up ever since and aren’t six points better than any of the current top 6. Especially now.
  20. The goal was nothing to do with Travis playing a wonderful through ball for the winger then. I think with Evans, Rothwell, Holtby and Dack in the team we would have given them a game. Instead we had busted flushes Johnston and Gallagher and a kid making his home debut who were never going to match their Fulham counterparts.
  21. Was always going to be a one goal game which Travis and Tosin conspired to provide. Great save by their keeper from Gallagher’s one moment but then Walton made four great saves. Samuel looked just dreadful.
  22. Tight game but we have contained them well. There’s no doubt they have better players than us in how they zip the ball around. Definitely playing to a plan of not over-committing. The one time Fulham looked dangerous was when our counter-attack broke down with Armstrong on the edge of their box. 1-0 to someone will do it.
  23. If Buckley isn’t making the bench when we are this thin on the ground, they’ve obviously gone into reboot mode on him.
