Impossible to answer for two reasons: 1) None of us can begin to imagine how billionaires think about anything. Barry owns 70 luxury cars and I own a Ford Escape, so I doubt we ever share a similar thought about motoring. 2) There is no ‘we’. The ownership and the fans have absolutely nothing in common, even though they own our club. The only stakeholders in ‘keeping going like this’ are them, and they could probably keep going for decades on a financial basis.

That could’ve been, and most certainly was, written 8 years ago. Mercer has been saying they are skint for at least that long and yet here we still are. Not once has their approach to the manager situation given any hint of it ever being boom or bust. No-one knows what their plan is and under what circumstances they would sell, pull out or something else altogether.

Good spot. The chants of “Mowbray Out” ringing out of the stands yesterday confirms your point.

Whatever the feelings of however as big a portion of the fan base, the manager situation will be governed by some inconvenient facts. 1) We don’t know who decides on these things, let alone when and why. 2) Whoever does decide has consistently shown themselves to be not only impervious to fan sentiment but arrogantly dismissive of it. 3) There is no evidence that not getting promoted this year, or even close to the playoffs, is seen by whoever is in charge as being an issue that must be addressed. 4) Even if he got canned, picking a better one is not the simple exercise the name-droppers seem to think. Two-thirds of managers get sacked every year because people who do this for a living got it wrong. 5) If we are so attractive a prospect, why were people in the game phoning the unemployed Mowbray advising him not to take it? Why did Lambert eff off? 6) The most successful appointment of recent times - Wilder at Sheff Utd - would’ve been met with howls of outrage on here: six years at Halifax, six at Oxford and then snatched from Northampton. Personally I’m not holding my breath.

Scrappy game - made a lot scrappier by cheating Preston and an appalling ref - between two mid-table teams in no danger of going up or down. Bell and Downing were our best players I thought, and Nyambe making a mug of Gallagher was good to see, although we must accept that Nyambe is a crock. Unlucky not to win it at the death.

Can’t believe another 5 changes from the team that lost to 10-man Brum reserves... Key game for Holtby in the #10 role - make it yours lad.

Far too generous a description, I’m not sure the ball that hit Armstrong had enough power to reach the line.

Here’s the thing: we all thought he couldn’t miss. Any of the Three Stooges get a similar opportunity today and we’d all expect it go for a throw in, a counter-attack that puts us 1-0 down or into the River Darwen. -

I see no reason why both of these perspectives wouldn’t be true. Dack’s agent agreeing a salary if sold is a long way from Venky’s agreeing to sell him. -
A better picture of the Keystone Cops. Would make a good “What happened next?” Question of Sport brain teaser

I think those videos are speeded up slightly; the defenders also seem to run a bit funny

Lenihan being five yards from the touch line didn’t help much either

Man completely on his own six yards out from an open goal with a barely moving ball manages not to score...

I didn’t think it was a foul either till I saw the shirt pull on the slo-mo. By no means convinced the ref saw it. -

He was awful for that goal. Other lesser highlights: - Downing asked to play on his lesser foot (Still our best player though) - Rothwell as a central midfielder - no thanks - Chapman running the ball out of play x times - Buckley bouncing off not very meaty opponents. -

He’s the only one there that knows what good looks like and cares. Any dressing room would listen to him. I got the impression from his LT comments after Forest he’s not impressed by the culture. Back to the game, highlight was the 3 against 0 empty netter where our £14million strikeforce managed not to score from three yards out. -

My feelings exactly. I can’t remember a time when I disliked so many of our players. Downing player-manager assisted by Johnston for me. -
Can someone ask how much he enjoyed taking his “long” throws onto Samba’s head? Also, can he sleep yet after that Semi Final header?

Tony Mowbray Discussion

Don’t read the warning on the firework box. Go back to that lit one that seems to have fizzled out, have a good look right into the tube. Don’t be such a pussy just because you lost an eye last Nov 5th, three fingers, your eyebrows and an ear during the previous six years. -
That’s the only way he’s going to go in my opinion Tony, someone in India calls him to account for Brereton/Gallagher not delivering, which is substantially more likely after the Dack injury as he can’t credibly not play either of them.

Tony Mowbray Discussion
Exiled in Toronto replied to Neal's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
The bigger question is: why, when the owners have had SIX opportunities to appoint a better manager than a washed-up, unemployed Mowbray, have they not done so? Of course there are better managers than him available, just as there were when Kean, Berg, Appleton, Boyer, Lambert and Mowbray were appointed. Which makes me think that who is or might be available is completely irrelevant to the debate. -
Involved in the build up to both goals would be more accurate imo, he hit a couple of decent passes but it was Armstrong, Downing and Bennett that did the creating goals bit. The number of times Rothwell either runs into traffic or hits blind passes straight to opponents when we are pushing forward is criminal.

Very frustrating game. Walton - disastrous signing, threw two in the net today. He looks weak at everything he does. Bennett - clearly not a right back but another assist today Lenihan - did ok today. I liked how he pushed forward in the last 15. Tosin - is it just me that thinks he hasn’t looked up for it the last two games? The cross for the first goal was in his wheelhouse but he made no effort at all, and was nowhere neAr his man for the third. Bell - done for the first but I thought did OK thereafter as a wingback, Armstrong - no real threat but for our first he did what he has done a few times (and Rothwell never does) in finding a man open in the box. Travis - usual, no idea what taking him off achieved Evans - good game, shame he didn’t put his chance away but it was a decent save. Downing - good, apart from not taking a yellow for their 3rd Rothwell - instigator of every Forest counterattack, including the game winner. He gives the ball away too often and too easily when we are attacking. Brereton - I thought he did OK down the middle tbh. He comes short and kept a few good moves going near their box. No sign of being a predatory striker though. Chapman - looked better than at Huddersfield but in truth was no more effective out there than Bell had been doing. Gallagher - did he do anything? Graham - did he even touch the ball? Mowbray - awful. Rothwell going to right back was a new low.

Best Rovers Festive Memory?

Surprised you got slung out for that! It was a standard chant ever time we played them, plus at a game where missile-throwing was non-stop: I got hit by part of a brick and a bloke in front of me shat in his beer glass and threw that over
