  1. Yep it's called selective memory. I wish I could forget everything I have seen happen to Rovers since Venkys appeared!
  2. Let's not pretend that if we had sold him the club wouldn't have had dogs abuse for selling to a rival during a promotion push. The sale would just have taken the blame rather than Mowbray.
  3. I don't agree with that interpretation of his words. Pretty sure he is saying England is a different market to operate in, rather than that we are not operating like other English clubs due to our new setup. But who knows. It's not his first language.
  4. Are you and Gregg working together to strengthen the team where you can? "Yes, it's not like normal in England. I know what I want and the club has to provide it and they are working very hard." It's 'not like normal in England' does suggest he is surprised or frustrated at it being harder to get deals over the line. Seems like for now he thinks that's an English football problem more than it's a 'our club moves at a snail's pace under Venkys' problem.
  5. https://www.lancs.live/sport/football/football-news/tomasson-blackburn-rovers-transfer-dack-24445338 Transcript of JDT's words after the friendly. "the club are working extremely hard to bring players in." Are you confident they will be coming in soon? "I don't think it will be Christmas." 🤣
  6. Match ratings from Lancs Live: https://www.lancs.live/sport/football/football-news/blackburn-rovers-player-ratings-accrington-24445321 Players they gave a 7 to: Ayala, Buckley, Markanday from first 11, and Pears, Carter, Edun from the second 11 (Vale got an 8). Just one person's opinion of course. Not sure why he didn't give Garrett a 7 as his comments about him are only flattering. Hedges too really.
  7. I don't think those quotes suggest he isn't happy with the club. I can see him saying them if he wasn't, but I can also see him saying exactly the same thing if he accepts they're doing the best they can.
  8. Thing is, if it's just a friendly and all that matters is fitness, which I can accept, then it's also pretty irrelevant how well Garrett, Wharton, Phillips and Vale performed.
  9. I assume the second Stanley team is also their worst one?
  10. Second team is far worse on paper. Thankful we won't have to line up with that in the Championship. Were we really as bad in that first half as some said? Neophox said we had a goal disallowed for offside, hit the post and had another cleared off the line. Doesn't sound as terrible or dull as I'm being told.
  11. Correct me if I'm wrong lads but here's what I think happened here.... Tom talked about how this kid has scored for us from the halfway line, but showed a clip of him scoring another good goal from distance for someone else in the past. Then Arbitro has thought he was talking about the goal on the clip (which looks 30 yards ish), but he meant this other goal. Then Tom, who hasn't actually seen the goal, has assumed Arbitro has seen it and is correcting him? I heard he scored from about the halfway for us too, which is more like 57 yards.
  12. I would want Beyonce to sit on my face, but I have to be realistic. In fact I think it would be a better bet than Ayala playing more than a handful of extra games.
  13. If you mean because Nyambe's contract has expired, yes. Otherwise, absolutely not. Ayala is rarely fit and Gallagher isn't half as good at what he does as Nyambe, and that's from someone who thinks Gally is better than most here do.
  14. If they were interested in paying his transfer fee, they'd probably have bid it a while ago. Yeh him being on a free means he will get better wages as a result, but clubs don't target free agents because they're interested in giving them all their transfer fee equivalent in their wages. There are notable exceptions when a player is a huge commodity of course.
  15. Bellamy has become Dingles' Assistant Manager. Ewww.
  16. Egg men = Venkys of course, what with all the chickens. Egg man = The manager, and lyricist here, who by being the egg men's man becomes the egg man. Walrus = Steve Waggott, for obvious aesthetic reasons. By having to work under Waggott they become beholden to his walrus-like nature and become unto a walrus themselves. Goo goo g'joob = An attempt to say he wants to do a 'good job', but his brain has been frazzled by the circus already and he can barely speak. Pretty obvious stuff.
  17. Boro linked to Armstrong on loan. They're really tryna collect our ex players if rumours are to be believed. Have they made Mowbray their head of recruitment or something?
  18. I calculated what that would be for a 20 man pro squad (kids would have to fill out the gaps) and funnily enough it comes to the same 7.5k p/w average. According to this https://www.888sport.com/blog/football/championship/how-much-do-championship-football-players-get-paid#:~:text=As previously mentioned%2C the average, earning £75%2C000 a week. the average in this league is 35k p/w, though obviously inflated by relegated sides (though the highest in the league is 75k and there are only so many parachute clubs to bring the average up). The average in League One is 'less than £5,000' which I take to mean it's close to 5k p/w.
  19. If your estimate is correct, that averages to between 5.6k and 7.5k per recruit. I hope you're wrong.
  20. Just seen a Rovers ad on FB stating our vacancies, and the only recruitment one is Academy Talent Scout. I don't know if it's just a respectful period of mourning thing or we are headhunting a replacement directly (both perhaps) but that listing wouldn't replace Karl Newton's role.
  21. Well you said they were off the top of your head, and clearly thought they'd prove your point. Only Sharp helped your point, the other 3 undermined it. You gave his current age, as if to show he was still doing well at that age, so of course I used his most recent season. In fact presumably when the season started he was 34 not 35. He scored 9 the season before, same as Gally this season. The season before that, starting at age 32 I expect, he did score 13 (4 of them penalties), and the season before at about Gayle's age, he scored 11. Assuming this tracked to Gayle (big assumption, Fletcher wasn't ever especially reliant on pace either was he?) would I want to pay hefty wage and fee contributions for someone to score 2-4 more goals than Gally if he gets to take penalties? Who will have zero resale value and be next to useless after two seasons? That wouldn't be the worst signing but I expect it would be far from the best we could make. I'd rather assume Gally might score 2-4 more goals if he played as an actual striker (cue RF99 disagreeing lol).
  22. Maybe. But my main memory of him is of having fantastic pace, and that being his key attribute, and like I say unless someone can correct me, he has probably lost some of that. Has only played 3 seasons in the Championship in his career btw, and the last time was over 3 seasons ago. If he still has the knack and has found ways around losing his pace, or is nearly as quick as he used to be, fair play. In that case I'd take him on loan with highly subsidised wages if that was an option. Otherwise, no thanks.
  23. I'll give you Sharp, scored 14. Been consistent in this league for many years now. Playing regularly, for the same team, and I don't think was ever particularly reliant on his pace? The others all got outscored by Sam Gallagher. Significantly. Kazim Richards - 3 goals Fletcher - 3 goals Cameron Jerome - 3 goals. Sam Gallagher scored 9, the same as all three of them combined. I never said all older players are past it, but this small case study here suggests most of them are. And those are examples you hand picked.
