  1. Nyambe's final product isn't great, but it's not helped by two things. I've said this before, but... 1) Not operating with a proper right winger who you'd expect would not only link up better, but take some of the pressure off Nyambe to do the deliveries. It shows him up a lot more when most of the weight is on him to do it. I'd be happy with a system of Nyambe thundering us up the pitch from defence and laying it off to someone else who could put a good ball in. 2) The frequent lack of decent options in the box. Ironically, our 'favoured right winger' is the tallest lad in the team and we would be a lot better served by him being on the end of crosses instead of trying to make them. I wonder how much of Nyambe's checking back is just because there's nobody taking up a good spot, showing for the ball. Ultimately we just aren't set up for crosses to be a fundamental part of our game anyway.
  2. Ooh matron. Sounds very unpleasant.
  3. I think TM clearly thinks it was a red. Not only are the comments, but he fined him. You wouldn't fine him before seeing the replay nor if you thought it wasn't a red. Personally I'm staggered anybody in our own camp, fans and manager, think it was a red, and even some neutrals can see it wasn't, but I'm not going to keep arguing about it. It's a game of opinions.
  4. Jesus christ neophox, I don't think anybody is suggesting it will get that bad!!!
  5. Never in a month of Sundays am I going to buy that was a red. Just a clumsy, rash challenge that is a yellow every day of the week. It's the ref's decision that was indefensible as there are worse challenges nearly every game. He may well have gotten pelters for actually being sent off. That's not my point, my point is that when similar or worse challenges happen and we aren't unlucky enough for the ref to have a brain fart, we don't see the players who do it getting pilloried.
  6. Not a clue why some of you are talking as though he intentionally kicked the lad well after the ball had gone rather than lunging a bit recklessly, but it's not the case. Oldjamfan, we don't have an issue calling it bite when Lenihan and Travis do very similar things but get away with it. In fact we seem to applaud them.
  7. Not impressed with Mowbray on this one, why is he so much harsher on his junior players than his senior players? Despite what Arbitro says, most of us seemed to clock that it was an extremely harsh red. Think we all expected TM to support him on it. Instead he has levelled a fine against a lad who is clearly a confidence player and was appearing to find some, also discouraging bite from a player who was finally showing some. Given that we have had players do worse tackles since and not be sent off nor fined, I can't imagine it's going to help Ben like TM probably thinks it is.
  8. The thing with these suggestions of letting both Graham and Samuel go is that I don't see how we get two new forwards who are any improvement on paper, on top of the entire defence plus gks we need, with the paltry budget we will probably have. Maybe we can afford to let one go without replacing but not both. With Dack back I'll be fine to proceed with our attacking options as long as we fix the defence big time, so I'd rather all the money went there. It's a more cost effective area to improve, because it's cheaper and weaker. I'd like to improve the strikers, dont get me wrong, and if we had a good budget, enough to fix everything under this lot, I'd agree with you. As it is I'd probably give Samuel a one year deal on lower wages. He isn't starting to lose it physically, could still have potential to improve a bit (maybe), and is far cheaper. He has attributes that can make him useful as a sub to unsettle a defence late, and at a bit less than we are probably paying him, I'd take that.
  9. Palace interested in Gally? I'd be surprised but fingers crossed.
  10. Davenport only needed to go for either corner and instead went down the middle (probably unintentionally). Think it was a bit of a bottle job, having been out for so long, waiting for his chance, then having the opportunity to beat possibly the best side in the league with one touch... Gally actually played well, one of his best showings. He and Rothwell looked motivated and tidy, stark contrast to how they've been lately.
  11. That was actually a good setup from Gally too. Jesus, how we haven't taken an undeserved lead. Rothwell playing like the player we have always wanted him to be today. His footwork was exceptional to set Holtby up there and he created the attack with a barnstorming run. Where has this version of Rothwell been?
  12. Rothwell looking sharp, and like he gets it. Think he really needed that goal.
  13. None of the front three are playing well. Odd when they all notched Tuesday. If Gallagher or Brereton missed those two chances DG had (albeit one offside) we would pillory them. Not that I'm implying they're any good.
  14. Some Premier League players.
  15. My stream went wobbly for whatever happened between him missing the moment to send a diagonal ball over and free Arma for a clear run, and his weak effort, but my thought at the time was he should have sent Arma through. I even said, play Arma in or nothing happens here.
  16. ?? Hopefully a career in football management does not beckon for Dacky.
  17. I'd say we should have a goal too, between that DG miss and the cross slid invitingly across early on. So, 3-1, still worse than we are doing. That's some attacking lineup WBA have though, Grosicki, Perreira (sp?), Charlie Austin...
  18. How did Graham miss that? Thank god they keep kicking it straight at Walton.
  19. I was gonna ask if anyone else saw that. The actor is a Rovers fan if you didn't know btw Where was the marking?
  20. Yeh had lots of the screen freezing briefly. Refreshed the screen and been ok so far since.
  21. No changes? Am I still asleep, is this a dream?
  22. And Samba. And Hanley, Duffy. I think even O'Connell was rumoured to be about 500k and he had only played one League Cup game. Very odd that we never really put anything back in when we've recouped so much from defenders and also shown they can be profitable.
  23. Would take too much of our likely budget. We need an entire defence first.
