Would you sign Christian Walton

He's wrong. -
Don't believe the Dutch league has an equivalent as such, we have more professional leagues than any other country if I remember rightly. The caps may change what you're saying though, so it doesn't necessarily matter whether they can earn more here for now. I was more referring to the Championship though, if a cap comes in here. There are plenty of players in this league who could move to top flights elsewhere if a cap severely cuts what they can earn here. I'm not against a cap at all btw, just think it needs to be well thought through, and even if it is there are disadvantages too. But overall the sport would be better off if it's done right.

Championship Season 2020 - 2021

We still don't know if we have a transfer budget. -
It's the ludicrous difference in funds when you jump up a league, especially to the Prem, that creates this lack of realism. If the riches on offer weren't so disproportionate this unrealistic wages thing would be a much less pronounced problem. The EFL solidarity payments from the Prem should double.

Fuck that. We'd have to sell most of our best players to be compliant. Anything turnover-based merely cements the dominance of the big-city clubs, which is already a problem. I've been crying out for wage caps for years but if it was done based on turnover I wouldn't like it. That would be a misapplication of it akin to FFP, as it means everything will end up decided on demographics and you'll never see Jack Walker style fairy tales shaking up the order to add excitement. IMO they should let owners put whatever they want in, as long as it's a gift and not a loan, as the whole point is supposed to be stopping clubs going bust, not stratifying them based on gates.

To any of the dozens of other leagues. If this isn't extended to other leagues it does reduce the competitive advantage English football has had for a while now. How much so remains to be seen.

Rumours that Brentford have decided who they want to replace Watkins. Meant to be Jacob Brown at Barnsley. Seems an odd choice, winger with 2 goals this season, but whoever they're interested in I'd want to look at too! They're far better at this than we are.

Ooh we beat Fleetwood and Carlisle to his signature...how ever did we manage that?

Worst Rovers signing ever?
bluebruce replied to bigbrandjohn's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Well at least he only played and threw away one game. Alan Fettis on the other hand.... -
Dunno about that, it doesnt include any insults.

Kevin Davies. 7 million when that was a lot of money in the game. Expectation was high. Beattie went the other way cheaply as part of it. Davies was crap for us, Beattie was great for them. We then sold him back at a significant loss, bringing Ostenstad over as a makeweight in that deal. He was even worse. Davies ended up at Bolton, who I hated, for free, and was great for them. Still makes my blood boil. -
I agree he shouldn't cost much more than 1 million with Charlton's and everyone else's financial situations. At that price, with his age, the data, and having seen a bit of him from the clips, it seems a no-brainer. A million isn't going to be the difference between breaking the rule limits or not, nor between administration or not. You expect he will have 10 years left at or above his current ability, so you're talking 100k a year plus wages.
-
I think they should be banned, personally. They protect the players not the clubs and the players already have the upper hand. They make millions and nearly all clubs live in debt trying to feed them.

He hasn't said it is Armstrong he heard about.

https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/18636225.salary-caps-introduced-championship-discussions-ongoing/ League One and Two introducing salary caps, well below what ours was in League One. No clarity there on how it affects teams who go down (as I'd argue that forcing them into a fire sale as soon as they go down would hardly encourage financial sustainability for relegated clubs). Implied that the Championship are considering a similar move, but not explicitly stated. They could be in talks about whether to delay profit and sustainability cut offs etc instead.

Why not?
-
That money would go to another Brereton/Gallagher type gambit, with the rest to soak up debt and losses. We wouldn't progress. It would still be a no from me as a fan who wants us to go up, but the financial reality may mean we have to take a bid of that figure.
-
Wait, is the info you have heard that we have accepted a bid? Because you wouldn't necessarily be wrong just because the player isn't sold, if your info was only that we have had a bid.
-
Don't see Travis attracting a starter bid of 10 million yet. Literally only Arma and Dack where the initial bidding could start at that amount, especially right now. I'd say it's most likely to be Arma if it's real. Whilst it might take 10 mill to prise Travis away (probably not though tbh, we sell low if it isn't our chief asset) I can't see an opening bid for him being any more than around 5 million in the current climate. Which hopefully we would reject outright.
-
It's gonna be Arma. Small chance it's a gamble on Dack before his fitness is proven.
-
Two players. Williams too. Injuries can happen at any time, at any stage of fitness. The enforced break probably resulted in some players not taking care of themselves enough, or maybe even pushing too hard. We get injuries in pre-season all the time, and that's after months of not playing too.

I mean google can help if you're that curious, but: Amari'i Bell is back in first-team training, but Tony Mowbray doesn't expect he nor Tosin Adarabioyo to feature in Blackburn Rovers' final day fixture against Luton Town. Bell has been absent throughout Project Restart, nursing a muscle injury that has prevented him from featuring in the past eight matches. (20th July) https://www.lancs.live/sport/football/football-news/blackburn-rovers-graham-bell-luton-18627979

Ok, you seem to feel unnecessarily strongly about it, so we will, no worries.
-
Sounds a bit conspiracy theory for me that one. Pretending players are injured is usually more about covering up that they're about to move clubs. And I don't credit TM with having figured out he bought a shite player. Especially when he had been looking less shite if anything.
