Surely if we wanted Gallagher it would have been done by now? We have been linked with him for the past year.
-
Obviously it has moved on a bit, and I stand by my comment that he's a much better bet than Evans or Smallwood, but reading between the lines I don't think it's a signing we'll make.
-
I don't think its necessarily that he is "shite" as you so eloquently put it, more the fact that he has never played the game at any sort of competitive level. I think it's a fair point, I don't know for sure but I imagine most clubs of our stature would have a GK coach that has "been there and done it" before becoming a coach.
-
Might just be me, but Johnson and Adam would be a huge upgrade on Smallwood & Evans regardless of age. Evans in particular epitomizes the "venkys era" for me.
-
It's the only reason we signed him ?
-
It says all the lads who have been on international duty wont be involved today, with Johnson & Downing starting pre season training on Monday.
-
Only bit I can find is this, which isn't really clear... "Amari'i Bell, Harry Chapman and Derrick Williams are unavailable due to illness and injury, but trialist Charlie Adam will play a part at Holker Street." I'd put good money on who the injured one is out of that trio!
-
Chapman's hamstring gone again?
-
Haha. This one is up there with Assombalonga.
-
No chance of Jake Cooper, he'll become the new Marcus Maddison before the windows over. I think we'll end up with a centre back on loan, someone completely out of left field.
-
I just cant see Darlow happening whilst Newcastle have no manager.
-
Fair play mate, credit where it's due. Find out more please ?
-
The only logical thing would be that in order for us progress, we're going to have to look at advancing our wage structure. That won't be it though.
-
I imagine it will be Gallagher who we have moved on from, I can't help but think that after they signed Adams he would be here now if we wanted him. Also, it won't be Assombalonga, why his name is still being mentioned is beyond me.
-
I imagine that's exactly what it is.

James Thomas, played a few games early doors in our promotion season in 2001, Think he went on to have a very average career in the lower leagues after that season.

I think people are saying that it's a bizarre set of events that "apparently" venkys want to spend money ASAP, but Mowbray doesn't want too and wants to wait until deadline day when apparently there will be more value for money. Never heard of such a carry on.
-
This just sounds ridiculous, I can't get my head around Venkys knowing there is a transfer deadline day coming up. if it's true we wouldn't pay Assombalonga's wages in January, we certainly won't now. I wonder what those lads "watching numerous tapes in the back of the building somewhere" are doing now if we are just going back to old targets. What an odd setup ?

He hasn't.

You think? I was under the impression that the video was probably shot weeks ago.
-
A red sponsor would have suited the kit I think. Also, Nyambe looks right cheesed off in that video.

We are in a better postion overall to when he took over yes. It's easy to forget what a bloody mess we were in when Mowbray joined, that period under Coyle was just rotten. I do feel like we had to take a step back into league one to move the club forward, the club needed that season where we were winning most weeks, the fans reengaged with the side with some huge away followings to a lot of new places for many Rovers fans. It was a fantastic season to be a part of. Again, very easy to say that "anyone" could have lead us to promotion that year, it's a very difficult job to turn around a side that was used to losing everyweek into winners, even though admittedly the standard of opposition was poor. Look at Sunderland last year, having the biggest budged doesn't always guarantee success. Last season again was perfectly acceptable for what is was, finding our feet at that level again with some good runs and some bad. Although I do like Mowbray and think he has done ok overall, he does infuriate me at times with his constant team medalling and playing people out of position, and also the fact that he has to shoehorn his favourites in there, I personally don't think he is the man to take us any further than where we are now. At Ewood last season you could turn up at half time and know you won't have missed anything. The back four that lined up away at Burton for his first game were - Nyambe, Lenihan, Mulgrew & Williams. Nearly two and a half years later it's not ridiculous to think that could well be the defence that lines up against Charlton in a few weeks, and for me if he doesn't address it before then it is completely unacceptable.

Ritchie Smallwood's hair is probably the most noteworthy thing to happen since last season finished.
-
Bolton were winning promotion to the Championship the season we got relegated to league one?
-
Think Forster is on a free.
