  1. Surely that should read "Why are we in court" and not "why are they in court"
  2. Any team out of the top 6 would have struggled given the fixtures we've had. Arsenal Away, Newcastle Away, and Man U at home. I look on this as the start of our season. Up up and away!!!!
  3. I suppose the money we have saved on Cole and Yorke may be available in January, guessing he may have 3-5m to spend on new faces. We don't need many players just a decent Centre Half and maybe a slightly more experienced forward. Lots of good young talent coming through, just hope Hughes goives them a chance. We have reached the last 4 of the Youth Cup and reached the finals over the last few years, surely we should start seeing some of those players making the breakthrough soon.
  4. I noticed the 2 year contract on the Official Site. It certainly seems a little short but I suppose if everyone is happy it can be extended. Didn't Souness have a similar length contract initially.
  5. Bryan Robson may make a good coach, not too sure just reminds me of Kidd and McClair I suppose. The one thing with Robson is that he has managed in the Premiership before so might be able to offer advice to Hughes. To be honest I don't really rate Robson, not sure why but just don't really want him at the club.
  6. All this talk of his lack of Premiership experience gets to me a bit. Wenger, Mourinho, Benmitez, had no Premiership experience, even Ferguson had no top flight experience in England before he took over at Man United Curbishley, Allardyce, McClaren, Bruce, Coleman, none of them had Premiership experience until they were given the opportunity. Surely there aren't many Premiership managers who actually had Premiership experience before taking over at their current club. The only ones I can think of are: Souness - Newcastle Redknapp - Portsmouth O'Leary - Villa Keegan - Man Citeh They are the only managers who had top flight experience in the Prem before taking over their current job. I don't see the lack of Premiership experience as a problem.
  7. It has to be good for our young strikers. I'm sure Jay, Stead and Gally can learn a hell of a lot from him.
  8. Had a sneaky feeling that might be the case.
  9. Also looks like its in the other thread!!!
  10. If you don't like it i'm sure you can find somewhere else to play. I'm sure we'll all miss your contacts and breaking news!!!!
  11. A number of my friends and colleagues used to say they enjoyed watching Rovers play and many even classed Rovers as their second team. It was all down to the attacking, flowing football we used to play. I speak to them now and they seem to feel we have lost all creativity and are just an average team. Just can't believe how much our team has changed over the last couple of years.
  12. Get them both, Hughes as the number one and Newell as his assistant. It would mean that Hughes could carry on with his Welsh commitments until they found a suitable replacement. We get the best of both worlds
  13. Does that mean we're not going to hear from you for a couple of months
  14. Got to agree with Roverdrake on this one guys, I heard the interview on SSN with Tony Parkes saying he expected us to appoint a high profile manager. I have also heard him being quoted as saying it will be a low profile manager, looks like he's hedging his bets.
  15. Hi Bazcaz, We are trying to keep the amount of new topics down to a minimum. If you see a thread about a similar topic try to post in that one. There is a Souness one and a New manager one, this would have been ok in either of those. I'll try to merge it to one of them (If I can remember how to do it) Thanks
  16. I don't think speaking to him guarantees him the job, don't forget terry venables had talks at Newcastle. I would guess the club would like to speak to all of the candidates they have shortlisted, its normal practice when interviewing for a job, don't just appoint the first person who comes along.
  17. Is that the paperboy I guess he gets to read it for free while delivering it.
  18. probably best to keep quiet for a while Hughesy, you really are making it easy for people.
  19. Parkes has come out on the official site saying he expects a new manager to be named sooner than later, he also says he might only have one game in charge. Sounds like we might have an announcement to make next week.
  20. you tell us Hughesy i'm sure you'd be the first to know if there was one.
  21. I think Diouf suffered by being played out of position, he looked great up front for Senegal when being played as a striker but looked poor on the wing. I honestly think he will do well at Bolton, still don't think Houllier is the man for us, just don't see him being able to lift the spirit in the dressing room.
  22. Leslie Hughes (yes that is his real name) with Mike Newell as his assistant would be a good choice, still feel Strachan could do well for us.
