Mowbrays Successor

If they are such ‘great’, ‘optimum’ owners why is the biggest reservation of the likes of phil, Wood et al on the issue of TM going always; ‘I’m really worried who Venky’s would replace him with’ ? -

The Charlton and Southampton away games in the relegation run-in in 1999 were both shown at Ewood. I’m sure there’s another too, but I can’t think of it. -
You may be thinking of the old This is Lancs site. Lancs Live is run by Reach (new name for the Mirror group).

I would say outside PL towns and cities that’s the case everywhere. I’ve noticed a real drive towards glory hunting with youngsters in the social media and online gaming age... closing stadiums for a year + won’t have helped one bit. Like TV money and everything else, Venky’s chose the very worst time to put us in the wilderness for a decade...

I was sitting in the Riverside for the Derby first leg. I can still remember the two lads down my row leaving at 2-0 down, ‘f*cking play-offs again’ -

His fall down the leagues begins. Won’t be the last to piss away his talent. -
Rovers of the 80s were everything this present incarnation isn’t. No brass, but doing everything it could to upset the odds and compete. A club bursting with pride, both local and professional. 2020 BRFC; billionaire owners and can’t even keep the ground clear of weeds.

I know we aren’t ‘every club’, I posted that very view earlier today. And I certainly have reservations on potting TM on that basis. But for those that believe we now have owners that have learnt their lessons and are bankrolling the club surely they shouldn’t be scared about replacing an underachieving manager? If they are, then obviously they don’t actually believe the owners have ‘learnt their lessons’ at all...
-
Of course, as it is for every club. Just think it’s a bit of a curious juxtaposition that the very same people usually lauding the owners on said groups are also the ones sounding the alarm that the club couldn’t possibly appoint anyone better than Tony bloody Mowbray...

Noticed some of the Facebook groups looked like they ‘turned’ last night, but looks back to business as usual today... ’Stabilised the club’ ’Who we gonna get?’ ‘small club’

10 years in and some of you still haven’t worked these owners out and think he will be under some pressure, that a ‘board’ will be discussing the alarming drop off in results. ‘His position is untenable’, ‘let’s give a new manager time to settle in’. A thread talking about replacements has been started. Perfectly understandable, that’s how football works, especially in the Championship, however it just doesn’t here, and you are all going to be getting more and more wound up. I remember last season on a similar death spiral, a fan asked Waggott about TM’s position, he merely laughed. The ire needs to be pointed at those that oversee this dysfunctional football club, alas they are now even more popular with the fanbase than TM at his peak. Whet a state of affairs.
-
‘Don’t know where we go from here’ . ‘It’s not good enough. ‘Something needs to change’.
-
The Warren Lucy comments were interesting, obviously checked himself just in time from saying what he actually wanted to say, though maybe an insight into what folk working at the club are feeling behind the scenes...
-
‘Attacking means you win more games’ Well there you have it, simple ay? Think we all (me certainly included) need to stop letting threads getting derailed by someone with such a simplistic outlook.
-
Surely nobody thinks brfcs in anyway mirrors the match going fanbase re TM? There has always been a strand of opinion on here that just doesn’t rate the bloke - it has grown to a big strand recently. But in the ‘real world’ he’s as close to bomb proof with fans as any manager we’ve had, since, perhaps, Hughes. Couple that with the very cosy situation he enjoys within the club and it’s why I don’t give the managerial position a second of thought. ‘Lord, grant me the serenity to accept...’ and all that.
-
If Venky’s are ‘optimum owners’ and you believe we have such an underperforming manager, surely they should’ve potted him by now, Phil?

Wouldn’t surprise me if Trybull goes back (if possible within the loan agreement), he showed a bit of dissent towards Mowbray when taken off at Stoke, and TM has questioned his training ground efforts... he missed Boxing Day for ‘personal reasons’ according to Sharpe. -
And you wonder why folk ask how old you are. You obviously don’t know ‘exactly how a club should be run’ if you’d make such a juvenile and emotional approach to appointments...

I paid for an away night game in error not releasing it was covered on my ST - I emailed ifollow@efl.com with my payment receipt of £10 as proof and in fairness they refunded it quickly.

I remember my well worn 91/92 season review VHS showed an interview with Newell after the game... but no game 🤷♂️ -
It’s all hypotheticals at this point as he’s well entrenched here. But I’ m not seeing much in the way of ambition from Birmingham, QPR etc, they are plodding along just like us... he’d fit in well.
