Championship Season 2020 - 2021
Mattyblue replied to Hoochie Bloochie Mama's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
They chose it for ‘Landlords vs Tenants’ novelty, not any other reason. -
Not scientific at all, but take a straw poll with those around you when we are back in Ewood (whenever the feck that is), I’d be surprised if you didn’t notice it. There had already been a massive change in attitudes with match going fans I know and my away game crew in recent times in comparison to say 2016, nevermind 2012.

Ep 138 - The One Where BRFCS Meets Faz
Mattyblue replied to Herbie6590's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
It’s rare to find any ex player that says ‘Rovers’, possibly due to the fact ‘Rovers’ isn’t ubiquitously this club, unlike ‘United’ (well, it isn’t, but is!) or ‘Forest’ and the likes of Faz have travelled extensively as a coach, but it is also very rare for our east Lancs fans not to refer to the club in that way to each other. -
Scrapping in Mansfield town centre by all accounts... now if that sentence isn’t the lad at ‘rock bottom’, I’m not sure what is!

The club are enthusiastically touting he plays for the U23s on Friday, we’ll see if that actually transpires... https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/18888214.everton-plan-bradley-dack-lights-training/

I would have totally agreed... until recently. Now? There’s been a definite move to actual support and gratitude towards them, not just ‘we have to put up with them, we’ve no alternative’ If you haven’t spotted that shift, fair enough, but it’s happened.

Willem Tomlinson has pitched up at Chorley.

How the hell he gets the main presenting gig for Sky’s EFL coverage, fella’s stiff as a board. -
He was also ‘pleased’ when he signed a new contract the year before, as that was also a club decision, so I wouldn’t put much stock in that opinion.

League Starts? I’ve obviously been misreading the stats then. Great stuff if that’s the case and he should be largely available going forward, as we’ll need it with the other two often out. -

32 is a good season, his average is 20 odd. You’d wager that’s only going to get worse as gets older, but I suppose Mulgrew came here with an injury prone reputation and we got plenty of games out of him, so perhaps worth the risk given his quality - but it is a crucial position that already contains two players often out of action... -

Bit disingenuous, just because he wasn’t deemed ‘injured’, does mean managers thought he was fit to play/can play twice a week. He does well to get over 30 starts a season and it’s often been way below that... https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/daniel-ayala/leistungsdaten/spieler/78966/plus/0?saison=2012 With Williams and Lenihan also being injury prone it’s no surprise Wharton has not been sent on loan. -
Yet this is the fella that pays a fortune to Sky ?♂️

The 80s were Oldham and City, the rest of old Lancashire were either in the top flight or the fourth division... -
Think you are misreading the mood Dreams, like I said on the last page there’s been a real sea change in how they are perceived since League 1. Away from this board, I seldom hear anything negative towards them. Indeed if I aired my views at Ewood these days I’d probably get rounded upon...

Not the case anymore. Been a massive turnaround in their standing post League 1.

The time lag doesn’t matter one bit. Just stay off Twitter until HT/FT and mute any ‘goal alert’ apps for 90 mins.
-
I was just thinking that. The bloke’s a carpetbagger. John Williams was from nowhere near East Lancs, but he still always referred to ‘Rrrovers’ in his Hampshire burr. But then more fool me for comparing JW with that spiv.

With all the sad news around about football related dementia that occurred to me the other day. Kicked into the long (Brockhall) grass, I’d wager...

Generally a well balanced article, however as for praising the ‘stable management off the field’, I would argue that we are still very poorly run on the commercial side, largely down to a Chief Exec with a tin ear when it comes to the fanbase and local demographics.

‘Rich , the remaining Venkys Out brigade are very much in the minority.’ Generally it’s the standard tripe from that fella, but the quote above I’d say he’s pretty much right. I rarely come across anyone with overly hostile things to say these days - ‘look at Bolton’, ‘they’ve put more money in than Jack ever did’ and, of course - ‘they were badly... ‘

Next four games - Luton, PNE, Barnsley, Millwall. Could be very well placed after those, mess them up and it will in all likelihood be another season of mediocrity. -

5 subs back till the end of the season. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/54989289 -
I wouldn’t say negativity, I’d wager most committed Rovers (and football fans generally) just aren’t particularly arsed what England get up to, though folk generally get involved when the tournament comes around. In contrast to rugby and cricket where the England national side is the crux of the sport, the club game in English football just dwarves the international one in terms of interest and fan dedication.
