  1. Seen him on Sky. A run of the mill stopper that didn’t particularly stand out in League 1. Certainly shouldn’t be first choice at a Championship club with aspirations.
  2. ‘Class’? He’ll be 33 by next season and he’s spent his English career at Harrogate, Burton, Bradford and third division Sunderland. Looks like the expectations of Sunderland fans have fallen even more than ours.
  3. Loving the baggy 90s suits
  4. I can pretty much remember every game between 1992 and 1996. Yet if you asked me about most matches this season I’d struggle...
  5. I was going post war, the other time records began (after 1992)
  6. Get him on a podcast. Be like Fear and Loathing in Parochial East Lancashire
  7. I saw Tugay vs Shearer the other day. Did surprise me when a few folk picked Tugay, largely down to ‘loyalty’. Fair enough, but for me Shearer has to be number 1. The bloke was the best striker in the world (or one of) In the mid 90s - and he played for us.
  8. Sure I read that it isn’t a legal requirement to socially distance, nothing in the new legislation that can enforce a two metre gap.
  9. The club was on the verge of cementing itself as a major player for the next decade, the fanbase was expanding rapidly across Lancashire and beyond. However, we totally messed up recruitment that summer and we never made up the ground lost again.
  10. To judge we won’t have a vaccine in 3 months isn’t a particularly controversial viewpoint.
  11. Ok if you think the NHS and elderly will be rolling up in 3 months etc... (And even if those groups did receive them by some miracle in a few months time, the likes of me and you would be way off receiving one, so that would still mean many, many months/a year + of behind closed doors football)
  12. I don’t doubt their best endeavours, God speed to them. However I like to look at past examples. Vaccines are renowned for failing at clinical trial. Now obviously usually they don’t have anywhere near this amount of finance and scientific manpower behind them, but it is still extremely difficult to pull off in this timeframe, despite the positivity. If you seriously think we‘ll all be rocking up at our GP’s in just over 3 months with our sleeves rolled up just because a scientist at Oxford is making progress in his lab, then you are going to be very disappointed.
  13. Not a chance there will be a vaccine ready for use in September. (Feel free to find and quote this post later as I’d like nothing more than to be wrong).
  14. In a team full of leaders, I always found it interesting that it was Sherwood that ended up captain.
  15. That might say more about PNE and the players/standards they have...
  16. I had to check, 2002 that came out. Had a little panic there as I remember watching it, was sure it wasn’t 30 years ago!
  17. Happy Title Day everybody. Good piece on The Guardian... https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/may/14/blackburn-rovers-won-premier-league-title-liverpool-manchester-united-25th-anniversary
  18. I was just adding my view of what makes a Derby, with this being a message board and all...
  19. What does a derby really mean to a set of players who will largely have no connection to the local area? It is the intensity of the crowd that makes a derby special.
  20. Aren’t you confusing him with the mighty Patrick Valery?
  21. PL clubs have been told they need to repay £340million to broadcasters even if they finish the season behind closed doors. At Monday’s meeting "a curtailment of the season was discussed for the first time.“ Bet it was! https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52579299
  22. Oh I agree, just void it now and try and salvage as much as next season as possible. However, the FA are trying to flex their political muscles in this tawdry spectacle and are referring to the 1991 articles of association that guarantees promotion and relegation - though I doubt there was a pandemic asterisk in said document...
  23. Some old school brfcs-ers on there
