Championship season 2019-20
Mattyblue replied to arbitro's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Warnock was saying last night that he fancies staying on and having them at the top end of the table... -
The only possibility of that I foresee is if the owners massively cut his budget. There’s no doubt his stint here has improved his reputation in the game as it was on the floor when he arrived. So jump ship whilst his stock is high and become one of those managers always linked to the conveyor belt of Championship management jobs.

Saw a tweet from you last night, sure it said that you thought Waggott and Mowbray would be off? (unless I read it wrong, was late).

This summer isn’t normal. If it was, another middling season, but no Kean or Coyle in the hot seat as a fan repellant, I would have expected a similar number sold (you always get some, ‘bloody shite, won’t be going on again until x’, but it would still be in the ball park of last summer). But in this new world, the tail off of form just adds to the mess the club is in - being pretty much the only club in the league with 0 ST holders (most clubs have had STs on sale for months with thousands signed up), a massive recession, worries about health and safety and 6 to 9 months out of the ground so habits beginning to break, tells me it will be a disastrous figure sold.

63 points from 60 points. I suppose it’s quite literally ‘progression’. Though I’m pretty sure that when finishing mid table in two successive seaons, albeit one with a handful of extra points, we didn’t used to crow about ‘progress’, it was just another middling season. To me its just trying to justify the stasis that envelops Blackburn Rovers.

Damien Duff interview
Mattyblue replied to Bigdoggsteel's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I believe he didn’t want to leave, loved his life living in the Ribble Valley. We’d just finished 6th by spanking Tottenham 4-0 at White Hart Lane, Duff was fantastic. From memory he was literally about to leave on our pre season tour when Souness said we’d accepted an offer... -
We went the 9 games post lockdown without a clean sheet (plus the two matches prior).
-
Good luck with that. Best put a caveat on any Mowbray Out/new manager thread ’Posters know that TM will be manager next season, this thread is entirely hypothetical and for discussion purposes only’.

Leeds have only ever achieved anything in a couple of small spells, late 60s to mid 70s and the 1992 title win. The way they go on you’d think they were (Manchester) United. -

Why will it? Who’s ‘angry/frustrated’ with Leeds bloody United. Hilarious delusions of grandeur. You’ve been in the lower leagues for 16 years, just because the media gets all misty eyed with a club that fills their ground when doing well (not exactly difficult being the only club in one of the UK’s biggest cities), but you are just another club. -

‘Bad times’? Eh? It makes the league even more competitive and it’s still years away from the next TV deal negotiation. But you’re probably right, how WILL we cope without the mighty Leeds -
28 and playing in the fourth division, finally at his level. Still hurts my brain to think of how many years we allowed him to stink up our midfield.

Competition organisers, nothing more (and they can’t even do that properly with the farcical situation this evening). -
So what’s your prediction, Mercer?

Still think there’s a chance Walton will be Brighton’s number 1 next season, Chaddy?

Bet he does, he’ll be a millionaire... -
The pandemic should mean its harder to get inflated prices for the likes of Lenihan. Who’s paying £8million in this market? But who knows. Football is a law in unto itself, so transfers may just carry on as normal (though if it does then the sport deserves to collapse).
-
I would say his empire is retrenching, Sky sold, 20th Century Fox sold, National Geographic sold, News of the World closed. The Sun is his only mass market vehicle left in this country and print media’s reach is getting ever smaller. Trinity Mirror (Reach) are now the biggest print news group - Daily Mirror, Sunday Mirror, Daily Express, Sunday Express, Daily Star, Daily Record, a host of local titles.
-
The Times and Sunday Times are the very best of print journalism. Balanced editorial line and columnists from across the political spectrum. In what way do the Times/Sunday Times have a negative impact on British society and politics?

‘Mowbray hatred’ This passes for debate now?
