  1. The policy of ‘young English forwards’ is being used as a blunt instrument here. Great idea theoretically as I’m sure ‘the data’ outlines that they rocket in value. Armstrong will certainly be worth far more than the £1.75m rising to £3m we paid (well he was before the plague sent everything upside down), but you need to be scouting properly and getting value prices for the players initially for the model to work. £12 million on SG and BB was certainly not value, so making a profit on those will always prove difficult even if improve from here.
  2. Do I buggery! (Oops opposition again ) But if I disagree I’ll post my opposing views. Not going to apologise for that, nothing personal, it’s how it works. Anyway sure we’ll agree to leave it there and move on as the rest of the board doesn’t want to see a page of back and forth over a misunderstanding...
  3. A clear track record of what? Chewing the fat with you on a message board? Lighten up it’s Friday ?
  4. You are either being disingenuous or you are ridiculously naive You honestly think that TM, who lives in the north east and is a football obsessive hadn’t even heard of Sunderland’s Scotland international and number 1 keeper until last week?!
  5. Wow, Rovers behaving like every other business in the world! Bravo Chaddy for your insight!
  6. I could think of a few questions that could be asked, however we don’t have ‘journalists’, I.e reporters with a nose for a story covering Rovers. It’s all about maintaining access through promoting a cosy relationship between the club and local media. The likes of Bayes and Sharpe just tee up some soft questions that will create a few decent quotes for next day’s paper/radio report.
  7. Example #34577 of how the football bubble exists in a total different world than most industries...
  8. He did resemble a footballer, he often hasn’t. I was being a little snarky, but so what, it’s only a message board. I didn't go down to the players entrance on Saturday evening to shout it at him.
  9. Didn’t say you did, ‘twas I that claimed that he wasn’t, I presumed you thought that was me being harsh. Thank heavens we are seeking some small shoots, for him, of course, but more importantly for the club .
  10. End of the day we are a professional club who exist to put a first team on a pitch to win football matches. If the situation around eligibility is true, surely giving a contract to an employee that legally/per regulations is not allowed to perform his duties for the duration of said contract is a rather odd turn of events?
  11. By the mid to late 80s he was a quality footballer. Always wondered how he would have fared in the top flight...
  12. Proved me wrong how? I don’t flip flop and judge players on one performance be it good or bad. You obviously do as you wanted Samuel gone before lockdown as he was ‘nowhere near good enough’, and now he MUST be signed up for a new contract after a 25 minute cameo. He resembled a footballer on Saturday, so a marked improvement. He’s a long way to go to be the real deal. Perfectly fair comments.
  13. He resembled an actual footballer, which was a marked improvement. The real deal? Long way to go...
  14. As if you would! Say Angus Gunn, who you seem to like, signs tomorrow, you’ll criticise TM and the club for getting good business done too early?
  15. That Sam Hart’s a lucky lad... As Rovers push for a place in the play-offs, Danny Graham, Stewart Downing, Dominic Samuel, Jayson Leutwiler, Richie Smallwood and Sam Hart have all signed contract extensions until the day after our final fixture of the current campaign. Discussions will be held with the above named players regarding their futures at the club upon the 2019-20 season being completed. https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2020/june/rovers-confirm-retain-list/
  16. ‘Great signing. Excellent work by the club going about their business early and quietly’
  17. As I follow nicko, it isn’t hard to spot chadster! Touched a nerve obviously as your whole Twitter feed is literally one question after the other, but ?
  18. Why you still bombarding Nicko on Twitter and posting about 5 times a page on the transfer thread then if you currently aren’t interested in transfers?
  19. A manager makes all the difference in the Championship, as there’s usually very little between teams. He knows the job and it is fairly obvious he has excellent relationships with the players, which is probably more important than ever in the modern game.
  20. Amazing how quickly the game changed from the late 80s to around the millennium. Money, TV coverage, infrastructure, stadiums, corporate offerings, fan culture, foreign players. Only 10 years, but it might as well have been 50.
  21. Both Bowyer in his final windows and Coyle did have a vastly reduced budget in comparison to 2012/14. That’s just a fact illustrated by the sheer amount of quality players that departed and the largely cheap crap that replaced them.
  22. We will be in more trouble as a club than just defensive issues if Leutwiler is first choice next season. It’s fairly obvious that TM doesn’t rate him, so it would only be severe financial restraints that would see him between the sticks.
