Birmingham asking players to defer wages... https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52022741 I read somewhere else that Gillingham’s top earners are on over 3k a week, so with bonuses, that’s probably over 200k a year of outgoings on just one third division journeyman... that’s Gillingham with their paltry income. Things will have to change, the days of plenty for mediocre footballers will be over.

I personally can’t see fans being allowed into football grounds for a very long time. 12 months? Who knows. So something completely out of the box will need to be attempted to re-engage supporters. The only ‘modern’ comparison would be post WW2, but even then there had been football played to crowds through the war and culturally it was a different world. So let’s hope the club is up to the challenge, or Blackburn Rovers and a big chunk of our clubs as we know them have gone for good.

Make them wear claret!

Thing is both Rovers and Olympic have always played in blue (I know Rovers wore white for a couple of years right at the beginning), so should have been simple enough, why claret?
