With Bellamy we were punching above our weight and it was fun (some of his play was magical), but it was not representative of what we are about. Spending millions on one so called "superstar" would not guarantee anything next season other than financial instability.

There is no need to slag him off, even if he doesn't perform. He has come here to try and do well, and his contract (hopefully) reflects this. Personally I think he will do ok.

I have said all along England and Sven are going to win the World Cup and the more the press are against it, the sweeter it will be when the team and management ram it back down their throats. It had to be done. Even though Hargreaves had a great game and Sven probably would have liked to have played him in the same position, he has realised that without a right back that can get forward, our play isnt really going to come to much.

I think it would be more likely if Lennon was still on the bench, with Lampard and Beckham in the centre and Gerrard and Cole playing off Rooney. I think that could work quite well, with Downing, Lennon and Crouch all ready to make an impact from the bench when required. If it worked for Chelsea, it could work for us.

I don't think we can say Bellamy is money grabbing. He is going to be offered the chance of being our best paid player ever. If he does go it will be because he used to support liverpool and/or he wants to play in the CL and maybe have a shot at winning the EPL. Which we cant argue with

Unlike everybody else I can remember what it was like under Hoddle and Keegan, and I can also remember qualifying for WC02 when we werent supposed to, beating Germany 5-1, beating Argentina (twice),only losing out on Euro04 Semis due to a stupid ref and many other Sven achievements.
