  1. Sale sharks run a free bus service from and back to the Trafford Centre to the AJBell stadium which helps because parking at the ground is poor. Parking at Ewood has become more of a problem in recent years. One of the reasons I didn't go to last night's match was that I'd have had to go on my own as my husband needed to rest after his op and, in the old days we had a parking pass for one of the nearby car parks, but now I'd have had to park further away and didn't fancy the walk on my own. A bus running in from the Ribble Valley with pick ups at various points, in Clitheroe, Whalley, Langho and covering some of the villages in between would probably have enabled me to go and feel confident and safe. Guess I've got a bit more nervous as I've got older. And a flexible 10 or 15 match ticket would suit us totally. Since we can't sit in the seats we'd like to in the BBE upper, we don't need a guaranteed regular seat. We can't go to every match as we would want to if we were paying for a season ticket. But a commitment to attend 10 games a season in return for a reduced price over buying individual match tickets would mean I could support the team without feeling the resentment that if I don't attend a match on my season ticket I'm missing out. Definitely an avenue the club could explore.
  2. Not able to get there tonight after all. My husbands minor op turned out to be a bit more than we expected and he was advised not to go out tonight.
  3. I did once pass Jonathan Douglas on the side of the road.
  4. Chaddy gets pulled up by some on here because he changes his tune every 5 mins in order to be able to stay positive. Its rarely personal but even I have had to challenge some of his posts when he posts an opinion as though its fact and is rude to anyone who begs to differ
  5. If it's before 6 for evening games that's fine. We'll have a fair idea what's going on before 5 is.
  6. No I tried the official site but didn't know if it normally said different prices or what. No good ringing today either. Perhaps give a ring tomorrow morning
  7. Question. Can we buy tickets tomorrow evening without paying a surcharge. Don't know yet if husband will feel up to going after minor op and don't want to get tickets if he doesnt
  8. I thought the Walker Trust had the right to sell the club to whomever they wanted. I think now that the protests should have started before Venkys got their hands on the club. We all knew there was something wrong with their buying it in the first place. Might not have changed anything but who knows?
  9. Too many syllables in both those names I think
  10. You weren't totally wrong. My daughter, who worked at the pub opposite his house in Hurst Green, asked him just before he made the move, ' are you actually going to Chelsea' to which he replied, 'I don't think so'
  11. Hoping to get to this match. Depends because husband has to have a minor op that afternoon. But I have to get back into the ewood habit at some time so this might be a good opportunity
  12. I did feel that Kean was being harshly judged at the start and that, however he got the role, he deserved a chance. Soon saw the light though
  13. Is a dorm dip a euphemism for what Brad got up to?
  14. It's still holiday time. Lot of people will be away for Bank Holiday weekend or have family visits etc. We thought of coming ourselves today but we were away in the Lakes and a bit too late coming home after we'd done the stuff we had to do.
  15. Hardly a find. He was good at Oxford last season. The great thing is that he has been able to make the step up
  16. I never mentioned wages. I merely said that getting the contractual and financial part of the deal over the line is not the managers job. That's why we went on for so long about not having a proper structure at the club.
  17. Bds I don't know but the manager doesn't deal with finances and so on. Whilst he identifies the targets, talks to them, etc he won't actually do the deal
  18. I don't think it's Mowbray trying to con us. I think he'd like 3 or 4 at least and expects those who deals with contracts and finances to get it sorted. He knows we need at least a couple more to cover potential injuries where a make do player won't be good enough, even for a couple of matches. Where the more sceptical among us differ from some other posters is that we don't necessarily trust Cheston the money man to get deals done, or our owners not to have put limitations on the budget like how much they'll put in now so therefore how much we can offer up front. Waggott I don't know about so I'll reserve judgement totally on him, but I do know the history with Cheston and Venkys of not getting doable deals done.
  19. I'm retired and I still dont
  20. The manager himself has just said we can't afford to go till January with the squad we currently have
  21. I'm not suggesting we should change manager but suppose he decides that he's been let down by the negotiators and walks? Suppose we have a bad run and somebody catches Venkys on a day when they're interested and they decide to sack him. You have a naive faith that things won't change. I like Mowbray and what he's doing here but this is football and you really don't know what might happen. And I'm not suggesting we WILL get relegated but injuries, sending off, poor refereeing decisions, goals allowed when they shouldn't be, goals disallowed when they shouldn't be can all affect your points total.
  22. Well Wharton might have developed at Lincoln, we might have bought someone else, we might get relegated and find we don't need him or promoted and find we don't need him. We might change manager and find we don't want him. That's just a few reasons off the top of my head
  23. Next summer we may not need him
  24. Guendouzi from Lorient to Arsenal. Saw him last season in a not very good Lorient team. Picked him in the first 5 min as someone who could play at a higher level.
  25. If I were him I'd be desperate to get out of forest. A club prepared to sell you without informing you first isn't somewhere you'd want to be. And it can work out well for you. Look at the way we sold Cairney and where he is now
