I suppose it's pointless arguing about the number of games , the price of games and the fact that a large percentage of the people who actually realise we have a football team do attend in relatively considerable numbers . Two more home games this week I believe .....

Great news IMHO . If this plan of New Labour's - which is on a par with the poll tax in terms of sheer political stupidity - becomes big news just before the next election , it will mean the end of Blair /Brown or whoever is in charge . Mind you the Tories are that daft they'd probably endorse the idea - in the spirit of concensus of course .... -
Go on then tell us .......(there were quite a few queuing up at tea time tonight .) Rovers 1 - 3 UTD

So Whelan (also) doesn't buy the broken pie....sorry , pipe ...theory . I suspect Rovers and Bolton might just get away with it this time - but I reckon the Prem will make sure sufficient measures are in place to ensure the heating systems are checked well in advance in future... -
"HE" paid £7m for Grabbi ?? Surely that amount of money was sanctioned higher up the corporate ladder and came out of club funds ...? But nevertheless , I agree with those who find this schadenfreude a bit over the top . Well , a lot over the top actually ... And the fact that he has a lot of injuries in the team will probably mean he'll survive longer than expected . Don't believe everything you read in the papers about imminent sacking ; and if he does go then it'll be largely down to media pressure rather than a rational decision taken by Shepherd .
-
It will be interesting if the attendance last night was "significantly" higher than would normally be expected - and if BRISA intend to push the kids for a quid experiment more often . Personally I'm convinced that this is the only way forward long term for a club our size .
-
Maybe you don't Jan , but others do . And I'm willing to bet that someone with an IQ as massive as yours just might think twice before travelling down from London on a cold winter's eve if no adequate explanation is forthcoming from the Rovers .....
-
As I said before an enquiry by the league is exactly the same as asking for an explanation . Maybe you think that an inquiry/enquiry has to be some kind of formal inquisition , I don't know ....
-
No they're not . (And I said INQUIRY by the way ...)
-
Well I'm quite glad there's going to be a league inquiry ; at least we'll have more chance of an honest answer to whatever went "wrong" than if we left it to the Rovers .

We could have a church service and a collection , and maybe a period of mourning .... -
.......unless there's a touch of frost in the air....

I reckon when the game's re-arranged quite a few thousand will find something better to do with their time . But never mind , these things happen .....

You'd really prefer to be lied to........? Personally if it was down to human error I'd like that particular human to be disciplined for incompetence . In any other workplace people are held accountable for cock ups......
-
The official site is saying that engineers are looking at the heating system which obviously suggests a technical problem. Which just leaves the communication problem then.......

That's hardly the point , SAR . Most fans - and all floating fans - probably have never heard of the Fans Forum or BRISA , nor will be they still be interested in what happens at the next meeting . The damage has already been done ; those fans may never come back - especially if the weather stays a bit chilly and we're playing at night , and the club still hasn't given us a plausible explanation . Speaking to punters in the pub on the night the universal reaction was that it was yet another cock up from the Rovers . Some people on this board are making it sound like we've just entered another ice age . It was at worst a couple of degrees below . Personally all I want to hear is the truth - and that to me is either the heating system was not working properly , or that it wasn't switched on in time . So which is it ?
-
I don't think that , Flopsy . I'd have preferred to play them while we're in form and they're not . And won't Tugay now have to miss the Wigan game ? I'd have preferred him to miss yesterday's game (if you see what I mean ... ) Oh and Bolton's heating failed . At least they admitted it ...
-
Well if AESF doesn't want to know , I certainly do ! For example , does it work to -8 degrees (as someone said earlier) or not ? Was it working last night when the temp was way above that ? Is the system useless if the game is to be played at freezing temperatures ? Did nobody bother to check the system the previous night when (or if) it was switched on , and the temperature was below zero ? If we aren't given an adequate explanation then people are entitled to assume that games can no longer be played at below zero temperature and they will take a look at the weather forecast before buying tickets . A lot of people on here are scared witless at criticising the club in any way . Now if the heating system failed late in the day then that's fair enough - a technical error . Now that just leaves the usual shambolic procedure of getting information out to the public in good time - which AESF likened to the Parkes fiasco . Here it seems the club have no excuse at all . A few Geordies and our Jan may have been pacified by a meal and a few drinks but I bet there are plenty who aren't as forgiving . And I for one have been to scores of games were the temperature has been colder than it was last night !!
-
What a bloody disgrace - one night of frost and the game's off . However do they manage in colder countries ? Feel sorry for the poor buggers who've travelled to the match . On the bright side it gives a good excuse for a night out on the ale ....

Good thread ; I occasionally go up for a walk round the Revidge pubs . Not impressed with the Dog - it's one of those ever increasing number of pubs who only give a toss about "smooth" beer - low maintenance I suspect . Don't think they even have mild .West View is ok as is the Quarrymans (I refuse to use its new name ) . Gibralter has the real stuff but it's not looked after IMO . Same goes for the Alex . As for non smooth ale - particularly mild - it's hard work getting pubs who know how to look after the lovely stuff and at what temperature to serve it . Even the pubs who brag about their real ale don't look after it . It doesn't help that the turnover isn't great , though ; ale needs to be kept flowing through the pipes . Personally I hate the breweries - they should never be allowed to own both the premises and the product they sell to their houses ; it takes the pi££ out of those landlords who actually take a pride in their ale by forcing them to concentrate on the profit line determined by the owners , ie , rubbish fizzy lager and blue wkd type drinks that are an insult to our heritage . I won't even comment on the town centre.... Talking about heritage could get me into trouble . What is happening in Blackburn is nothing more than the systematic destruction of a way of life . Pubs are central to our culture , as the churches used to be - but they seem to be closing on a weekly basis . Not much for anyone to market or capitalise on I'm afraid , the council have other priorities - enough to drive one to drink.....

Too late , they're already legalised and banning them now would be totally impractical. What would you do - make them more readily available in order to curb the problems they cause ? Just because one or two forms of "abusive" substances are legal is hardly a great argument for legalising them all .
