For me, Bazball has looked pretty old, dated and ineffective on this trip. I feel sorry for our bowlers. Not one batsmen comes out of this with any credit for me.

We could return to the days of 1 series win in 17 which is where we sat before Key and Baza came in?

What this side has achieved has been phenomenal, breaking records all over the place, I’m surprised at your comments.

Not one batsman comes out with any credit? Are you sure you’ve been watching the same series?

Maybe you want blockers at each end and play for a draw? Give me bazball all day long, this test has been terrific.

Disappointing to lose the series and this match so easily after getting into a good first innings position.

A lack of runs, and two good innings by the Indian middle order under fierce pressure saw them home.

Its been a great series, enthralling with some fantastic cricket, but at times to have to hold your hands up and say we were beaten by the better side.

Its on to Dharamsala next, I had hoped to make it out to India for this one, but due to other commitments I'm struggling to fit it in, looks a fantastic venue!

I understood. Hence quoting his runs this series for England.

Do you think he will be happy with his series? Or describe it as tremendous? I don't.

I’ve not looked at the England teams batting average in this series, but he must be near the top and watching him today, he was outstanding in the context of the game.

On these pitches, it’s a tremendous effort.

Crawley looked great whilst it lasted. Played straight, looked solid in defence and used his size well to turn a good length into a half volley.

Until that is he tried to play a ball hitting middle stump to square leg and played all round it. So annoying!!!

He has scored 20, 31, 76, 73, 15, 11, 42 and 60 this series. He keeps getting in, then getting out.

Tremendous series? Not sure about that. 51 runs in the first test and 26 in the 3rd test is neither use nor ornament. Jaiswal has over 600 runs at 71 including a 171, 209 and 214. That's tremendous.

But he is at least averaging over 40 which is a big improvememt. Plus he's fronting everything and batting when the ball is new and the bowlers are full of energy. Maybe I'm too harsh on him, but its only because I think he could cause chaos batting at 4 or 5.

Maybe I should have caveated it with ‘for England’ but I thought it was obvious….

Thanks Gav in the nicest possible way for pointing out that I was 52 when I went to Cardiff for the final, and now I’m 74. Doesn’t time fly. All so wonderful memories before those bloody Injuns arrived.

All those years supporting the club Ian during those lean times. We could never have imagined what would happen to us during those glorious 20yrs.

Those rats can’t take that away 👍

With all the rhetoric about needing the crowd behind the team, I would rather hear that Eustace had said to Swag : We need a good crowd, so make it more affordable for them to come.

It’s irrelevant rigger, we need the owners gone and take these 10 Bob execs with them.

  7. We were well beaten last season at home against Norwich, glorious day, big crowd and a noisy contingent from Norfolk that never stopped signing from the first whistle to the last, great away support.

As for the game tomorrow, I'll not be going for all the reasons well documented, but as always I hope for a win, but in the end its all irrelevant because whilst we have clowns running the club over here and in Pune, this nightmare doesn't get any better.

Yeah this sums it up for me really. I agree with Gav that I prefer this team to that one that lost in WI, but they got themselves into a fabulous position where they didn't need to take risks in this last test. Lots of mistakes were made but we simply needed to bat long, partly to score enough runs, but also to give the bowlers a rest. It took a special sort of idiocy to lose that heavily from that position. And don't get me started on that crazy declaration at Edgbaston last year that, in my opinion, cost us the Ashes. Our best batter was still at the crease and we had less than 400 on the board FFS!

So, in summary we need to retain a bit of pragmatism at times, hand-in-hand with the aggressive stuff.

    Spot on.

Since McCullum/Stokes and Key took charge we have won 14 of 21 Tests, in stark contrast to winning only one of the preceding 17!

That doesn't mean they're above criticism though, the new approach does need tweaking.

Bazball is often unintelligent and one-dimensional and pro-sport is supposedly anything but. But the cultists can't see that more flexibility is required, or ever agree there is room for improvement.

Entertaining? Yes. 2 billion Indians are having a riot today.

Record breaking? Yup. India's largest ever test victory.

I see you ignored the West Indies result which was unintelligent and one dimensional with every defeat we suffered. Where we will agree is the likes of Joe Root shouldn’t be playing attacking shots with every ball, I can’t fathom that one out to be honest.

Good to see you posting again by the way 👍

  10. This England team over the past few years are probably the best test side to represent this country, the records broken tells us that. They’ll not win every test match, the traditionalist don’t like it, but I for one love it and long may this attacking approach continue.

Cricket has moved on, England are leading the way, trailblazing a path that the rest are keen to follow.

Juts as a side note, here is the last game before BM and RK took over, hammered by 10wkts in West Indies, who wants a return to this?

  11. Just looking at Leeds recent record, which is pretty impressive, they take on Plymouth at Home Park today and look almost a certainty for promotion

But the reason for the post is manager Daniel Farke, who was apparently sounded out for our job before JDT, but like several others declined the offer due to lack of funds/ambition.

    He was right.

My 60s were taken by the bastards and little hope that those of 70+ will see the back of those vermin in Pune.

Keep the faith my friend, the clock is ticking on these rats.

Closing in on 150yrs old this great club of ours, they can't and won't destroy that, although they're having a bloody good go.

  13. Waggott is the best CEO we’ve had under these rats and he’s still nowhere near what a club like ours needs.

He’s paid to keep the lights on and is doing that. We get the occasional ticket offers and the catering has improved.

That is job done, because the owners don’t demand anything more from the guy.

We know what the real problem is….
