  1. If we shifted Smallwood out permanently, we could use that weekly wage on another signing at a similar wage. Someone who may at least make the bench, unlike RS. So whilst you may be right and it wasn't dependant on RS moving out to sign someone, it may be the case we could sign one and use the freed up wage fromshifting Smallwood or Samuel to sign another much needed body. You can only sell someone if another is willing to buy, but I find it hard to believe there were no takers in L1 for the 2 above, even on loan, that could've give us some wiggle room for better on the wage bill.
  2. Theyre taking up space on the wage bill that could be used on someone who will contribute to the success of the 1st team?
  3. If we don't get at least a couple of positions strengthened in these last few hours, we better hope these younglings are as good as we're told they are. Or we're in for a rough end to the season.
  4. We're not going Down. We're unlikely to go up, barring a spectacular run of form. So it's the perfect time to start playing promising academy players, like JRC, in not particularly important positions. We have nothing to lose by playing someone who is potentially 1st team quality on the right wing and everything to gain if he delivers. It's what we should have done with Chapman and Mahoney. Let's not fuck up thrice in the same position. Same goes for the likes of Buckley. We're in a relatively middling position, give these younglings a proper chance in the first team and potentially save (or even make..) a few million in transfer fees and wages and build the next generation of 1st teamers.
  5. He's hardly had chance to see whether he is or not. Only one way to find out. In any case we have JRC and Bennett who can both play on the right too. GK, CB and arguably LB are more pressing than another winger for me.
  6. Use that money on a GK or CB and play Chapman on the right..
  7. To me it looks like, we're short of cover at CB and LB, but we've pissed all our money on 2 misfiring strikers. So, instead of scouting and trying to find a good CB and a good LB within our budget, we just said, fuck it,bring charlie back. If we have a couple of injuries in defense he can fill in.
  8. Personally, 2011-12 was much worse than 2016-17. That season laid the groundwork for all the crap that has come after it. It would've been incredibly hard to get away with raping the club like they have in the glare of the PL. Terrible football, plus that shit eating, lip licking, smarmy grin staring out at us as we sank meekly, helplessly, away from the big time that Jack, Kenny, Souey, John Williams and many others, these weasels in charge now couldn't hold a candle too as long they have a hole in their collective arses, worked so hard to put in place. That season with him in charge alone knocked 10,000 off the gates and ensured many would never come back.
  9. Terrible 1st half cost us. 3-3 wouldn't have been unfair after a much improved 2nd half. Nobody covered themselves in glory 1st half, but 2nd Travis was immense, Buckley looked impressive. Just wasn't our day.
  10. If we score to make it 3-3 this half I'm sure you'll see plenty. So far this half Buckley and Rothwell have been good subs. Brave, but seems to be working so far. Would personally bring Armstrong off for Graham and give them something else to think about up top for the last 15 minutes.
  11. Brave subs. Not sure Johnson deserved to come off.
  12. Needed that second goal. We're still in it, just, and gives us something to chase now. Get one early in the second half and it could be on. Need to cut out the sloppy passing and wake up at the back. I would take Armstrong off for Rothwell and give them something else to think about. Get Dack and Rothwell linking up, pulling their CBs all over.
  13. Good time to score.. Johnson after a scramble in the box
  14. Christ almighty our defending is shit today. Great bit of finishing from their lad though, it's got to be said.
  15. Last 10 or 15 minutes we've forgotten how to defend and pass to a player in a Rovers shirt.
  16. That was pathetic defending. Armstrong really doesn't have anything but pace. Good finish though.
  17. Cunningham's having a bit of a mare so far today. We're not really in it at the minute.
  18. They are better off sitting on our bench, playing U23's football regularly and using our, much better, facilities than sitting on a bench at Rochdale or Northampton, using their, much worse, facilities and still not getting the playing time they need to progress.
  19. Is Chapman fit enough yet? He could be brought on for half an hour or so towards the end to introduce him slowly back into 1st team football so he doesn't break down again? Personally, I haven't been impressed with Armstrong this season, so far. He tries hard and has pace, but absolutely no end product. Would it be worth giving JRC some game time? See if he can cut it at a higher level? Either way, Rothwell should get a good amount of time, from the start. He is one of our best players and needs to to be on the pitch more often than not. We need to try something different other than lumping to Graham, that's for sure.
  20. To be honest, against Sheff Utd, I would try Gally upfront with Rothwell, Dack and Downing behind. Graham is getting on a bit now and we've spent £5m on him. He's the closest we have in the squad to an understudy to Graham, so give him a try. Rothwell needs game time to get some form and is, on his day, a quality player. I feel between him, Dack and Downing we have enough to lock any Championship defense. We just need to stop humping it long and try and play it on the deck and get those 3 stringing passes together - we'll create chances, hopefully one of our front 4 will put them away. It all depends on TM admitting he's got it wrong with Gally on the wing and actually change the style to a more controlled passing style rather than the long ball we currently play.
