As one who stated that JRC was an abysmal footballer in the past I cannot quite believe the transformation over the last month or so.
The only reasoning that I can come up with is a reality check that came with looking at the exit door. For the past 2 years, regardless of form or fitness Mowbray always found a way to shoehorn the lad in the side, hence it all came a bit easy for him. Maybe the realisation that he may have to ply his trade somewhere less salubrious has sharpened him up because he's become a player that I could never have envisaged from the last 2 years of 'performances'.

Blimey, 3-1, goals for the 2 Sams, a Tugayesque defence splitting pass from Travis and JRC making Kyle Walker look like Jason Lowe.
My ITV7 might have ducked but I'll sure as hell be doing the lottery tonight.

What the fuck does Smodicz bring to the party. What a mediocre player he is, has no fundamental talent whatsoever and we paid north of a million for him.
What a pointless player

Ah well, at least we have Gallagher tied into a contract so we have got time to work on his forward play.
Thanks Tony.

Thought we had a 'data based' recruitment team now? Would be very interested to see the data they crunched to come up with prolific Mark F##king Harris

Well done on kicking off the meltdown with not a lot in the overall scheme of things...
Hey, no worries!!
It is genuine though, my daughter works at a league 1 club and there is a connection through that. Just thought it was worth sharing, on the face of it I certainly can't rule it out.

Bloody hell, even Fleetwood have signed a couple of players today who would've been decent options in our squad in Marriott and Stockley.

Signing nobody might well mean an opportunity for Harry Leonard.
The way things are going it might mean an opportunity for me

Isn't that part of a message board function - to speculate, to discuss, to criticise, to praise and many other things. There is no evidence that Tomasson is either happy or unhappy. It's opinion and subject to speculation and discussion. I wouldn't take it so seriously.
I have heard second hand from a staff member that JDT is indeed unhappy, has interest from Germany and is keen to leave. Don't shoot the messenger.

Well before this window whoever was deciding what pond to fish in should have made sure they had concrete assurances as to where they stood regarding finances. If those assurances weren’t forthcoming they should be reconsidering their position.
How can you do the job otherwise ?
No doubt we'll end up fishing in the equivalent of Dickens Street pond. Right next to the shit pipe.

Ovie Ejaria anyone? Not wanted by Reading- young, lost his way, bags of potential. Fits the mould. I’d be all over this.
Great shout. He looked a potential worldie when he broke in that side, spoken about in the same terms as Olise who went on to join Palace.

Ferguson changed tactics all the time to suit the players he had and the opposition they were playing.
Ancelotti, who has won every major league title in Europe doesn't have any philosophy or set style. He just uses what he has the best way he can. I was hoping JDT would have had this approach given the time spent playing for him but unfortunately he has been stricken with the Dutch disease.
Also, all of those managers have had huge budgets with which to build the teams they want.
Ferguson was one of the biggest advocates of changes in philosophy throughout his career. From 4-4-2 with 2 wingers early on to Cantona as a '10' to 4-3-3 later on to occasionally playing Park as a man marker.

They're welcome ......... at the right price. Really isn't a patch on Raya imo.
There were plenty who thought it was a good deal at the time Simon. Safe to say they aren't in the same league as you or I in rating a player.

Personally I'd like to take the gamble on Cantwell - but it looks like we've been priced out.
I'm with you on that. He looked some player when he broke through but has lost his way over the last season or so. Shades of Tom Cairney for me.

And this is what grates the most. Back in the 80s when we literally didn't have a pot to piss in we generally competed and punched our weight at the top end of this division. There were no stars, no big egos on big money but they fought for the club and the town and, as fans, you felt a connection to the club and you rarely felt short changed after a game.
Nowadays, you get a weak apology and a 'we go again' on social media before a rinse and repeat.

Personally i'd have agents out and about trying to get a couple of million for Gallagher.
If replacing him is hard then football truly has gone to the dogs but if someone was looking to be smart he'd be the first one i was looking to trade.
Yep, surely we can bring a few quid in for a player who bags you more than 3 points a game when selected.

Midfield is in dire need of strengthening (with an emphasis on the word 'stength'). Personally I'm sick and tired of watching Liverpool project Morton tossing it off in our midfield and being overpowered game in game out. I can't see him ever making anything in the game, he doesn't look like he has the desire and will to win.

Ah well, at least we can look forward to signing the stellar names on Gregg the egg's z list.

Why are we so slow in possession. This possession based style we try to play is totally dependent on moving the ball quickly. Our players want at least one extra touch before they even get their heads up.
