Wharton, yet again, looks a million dollars. A class above.

After his errors last season and that last night, I'm beginning to think this Michael Salisbury chap sits in the VAR room watching Netflix 'cos he's certainly not watching the f*cking game!
Used to work with his old man who was also a ref up to Championship level. Week in week out he was the subject of controversy too, looks like it runs in the family.

What a pass that is from Wharton for the first goal. Sensational.

Ennis looking promising? How has batty been?
He'll be having a celebratory drink after his goal that's for sure

Gets quote of the season so far when asked about team mate Adam Wharton on Radio Lancs earlier - "if he keeps his head on the ground he can go right to the top"
Sound advice from the lad.

On paper, the Leicester lineup is absolute madness and they’ve tried to play in a progressive way but I think they’re very fortunate to be up here against Coventry.
Ellis Simms is an £8m paperweight, cannot see him scoring and have no idea how Everton have got that kind of fee for him. I simply don’t know what any scout has ever seen in his play.
I think Leicester away is late in the season, but I would absolutely fancy ourselves against them.
There were some on here that fancied Simms....I'd have been devastated if we'd got him for free never mind 8 million.

On holiday in Portugal at the minute and was delighted to find a bar with our game on live yesterday. A win I certainly wasn't expecting but one, on the balance of play, was well deserved.
My thoughts -
Carter and Hyam dovetail really well and I always thought they had the measure of the West Brom forwards
Travis - superb vision for the first goal and very good without the ball.
Sammie - what a grafter. Sets the tone all over the pitch.
Tronstad - I like him. Gets it and gives it, no fannying about and can play on the turn.
Leonard - great finish and tireless. Could (maybe should) have had a hat trick but poles apart from the lacklustre Vale.
JRC - decent but my God he was knackered 2nd half and the introduction of Brittain there really shored things up.
Markanday - nice finish but looks lightweight for me
Dolan - some nice touches, a good outlet at times but ultimately lacking with the final ball. Very good leading the press though.
Pickering - was targeted throughout but handled it well. He won't play against forwards as ineffective as Asante every week though, he's a bad un.
Pears - solid enough, could do nothing with the goal.
A.Wharton - some shoddy stuff but some truly world class stuff. What a player we have.
JDT - how good was the celebration at the end? Continues to over achieve with the players at his disposal.
Really happy with that, West Brom will be up there at the business end this season so it's a good 3 points.

Jobi Mcanuff( spelling?) Is decent, generally. LP
Agreed. I'd say Jobi is the best EFL pundit on Sky just ahead of afro Don and the chin Hinchcliffe.

Eddy Brimson? As in former Watford football hoolie Eddy Brimson?

Very left field. Rumoured to be about to join Brighton.
Yeah, he strikes me as an intelligent football man, played for good clubs under good managers all his career. Am aware of the Brighton link but maybe he wants to go into management and we could tempt him?

One and the same bazza.

This looks ominous and if either of the 2 Dutch clubs make an offer there's not a cat in hell's chance he's staying.
Personally I'd go leftfield for James Milner as his replacement.

I'm happy for Coventry and their long suffering fans. We've had it shite under Venky's but it's nothing compared to what they have gone through over the past 20 years. They've paid their dues and have got their 90 minute shot at a return to the big time, good luck to them in the final.

Gutted at this news but not surprised. When the club needed a hero Dacky stepped up and was THE man for 3 seasons before injuries struck. A fantastic footballer, I loved watching him and I still believe he could've made the difference at the back end of last season if played more.
All the best Bradley.

Looks like the Luton manager has identified a lack of physicality in this Sunderland side, they are dominant all over the pitch....and that left sided defender looks a player.....

What a handful this Luton front 2 are, they're bullying all of the Sunderland back line.

For that free kick that led to the disallowed goal I loved the way Travis let the Millwall player get into shooting range before fouling him. Utterly brainless from the pantomime dame.

Why the fuck do we never look forward with the ball?

Twice. In quick succession. But that will be the case when you're looking to play high tariff passes to break the opposition.
