Bollocks. Gave the ball away a couple of times but defended really well.
Steady on chief, just an opinion. Won some good free headers but struggled when contested with. Plus from us playing out from the back and controlling possession his tendency to give the ball away had us under pressure more rather than dictating play.

Really hard fought win that and one I felt we deserved. Maybe a bit churlish to pick a couple of players out but Scott Wharton has definitely regressed to looking a bit of a liability and I'll take some convincing on the new keeper.
Nevertheless, I'm as happy as a pig in shit tonight.

We are shite with any high ball into the box
-
What a pass from James Hill, that boy looks some player. Superb finish from Brittain as well. Keep this up and we can really put them to the sword.
-
Don't get this that we're poor I think we've been excellent apart from in the last third. Some of the crisp passing and movement has had Millwall chasing shadows.
However, we all know what happens when we don't convert dominance into goals...
-
That's a fantastic goal. Superb from Hill, Brittain and JRC, real quality.

So how did Leo look at least?
I'm not so sure about him myself, looks a bit lightweight.

I'd be more concerned if we were being out-played every week. Surely the tide must turn at some point?
Keep the faith and all that!
That's the bigger worry though, we're losing and playing well. When we lose form we're gonna get seriously bummed.

Yeah, Ive put his drop in form down to him being put under too much pressure in the mad ultra aggressive way we were playing. But today with Hill in there we were much more solid, not too much pressure on him but he was really ordinary. Tronstad looked a better bet...
Sorry, completely disagree. We had nobody willing to take the ball on the turn as soon as he went off and we faded completely as an attacking force. I like Tronstad but he's more of a defensive shield than a playmaker.

Oh dear, every game seems to follow the same script and we can't keep blaming lady luck.
Something has to change, and fast, because we're in the shit.

Turned into a load of nothingness in this half

We're playing well here, all our best stuff through Moran, Szmodics and Brittain. We all know what happens next though.

Thought this myself and it does appear we visibly lose intensity after half an hour or so. However, last night I felt that heads dropped when Sunderland got their 2nd and it was more of a mentality issue.
Oh, as well as some shite substitutions.

Not much to add to what has already been said. Game could've been out of sight after 15 minutes with a striker, some of our play was magnificent but once the chances went begging there was an inevitability on us losing.
Substitutions killed us 2nd half, Markanday nowhere near good enough, JRC very poor and looks a yard off it while you'd be hard pressed to see a worse half hour in midfield than what Garrett produced. German ale house lad looked low on quality and is obviously not fancied.
Elsewhere Wharton was sussed by Sunderland's midfield after 20 minutes and lost confidence, Moran was very good - looks a player, Sammie worked hard as always but made some bad decisions in possession. The rest were much of a muchness in starting well but draining of all belief once we went behind. A word on Pickering as well, he undoubtedly gives us balance at the back but the opposition do look to expose him and he is a weak link for me.

I'm pretty sure he worked at ROF when his professional career ended Andy. Working there at that time was Jimmy Birkett who was also the Darwen manager who persuaded him to sign.
He once reffed a game I was playing in when I was 19/20 years old and took our manager to one side to ask about the quality lad up front (me). Our manager was quite taken aback, he thought I was shit.

You’ve bought a dud.
He is a good player at this level and will score loads for you…but will always be injured. Missed about 60% of games at least for us over 3 years.
Get him fit and he’ll score loads…but he’s never fit. He’s made of glass.Heard he likes a drink, really likes a drink. True?

Greetings from the green army. I wanted to write earlier but my registration has only just come through!
It was a baffling game at HP last week. You were the best between the 2 boxes that I have seen in a long time….but really poor in both boxes. Your keeper in particular looked way out of his depth. Is he your first choice?
We have won every league game bar 1 at HP this calendar year so there is a believe in the crowd at the moment
We don’t really believe we will stay in the Championship too long. We don’t lose money and have probably reached a peak with this strategy. We have one player over the age of 28 and had the 14th best budget in league 1 last year and the worst in the Championship this year. We aim to be athletic and buy players we can improve and sell on. We have phenomenal recruitment but it gets harder each season….eventually someone will steal our manager and best players.
I know Preston are losing over a million pounds a month and it’s mind boggling. Even if they go up….they’re likely to come straight back down…..
Best of luck this year and if you find a half decent striker and keeper you’re bound to be in the top 6.
Thanks GA, that's pretty much the way I saw the game too, thought we were as good as I've seen in years in the first 20 minutes but once we inevitably conceded we lost belief.
In regard to your recruitment I've always rated Morgan Whittaker and he was one of your better players last Saturday. You've done well to tie him down as I'm pretty sure he'll go for decent money in the next couple of years.
Glad this game was early in the season as I made a weekend of it. Great weather and a good Saturday night at the Barbican - even saw semi legendary Argyle fan Pieface having a pint at The Ship and he didn't mind having a photo with my son - decent fella.
Good luck for the rest of the season, I'm pretty sure you'll do OK.

All those moaning on here about not wanting Batth and him being to old, today when Hyam went off showed exactly why we needed an experienced head have as an option at centre back, Carthorse and Wharton were disastrous together.
And anyone who thinks we had a good window just look at that bench of ours today there was absolutely nothing on it to bring on to change and win us the game. I wouldn't blame JDT one bit if he walked he deserves better than Venkys, Waggott & Broughton they have let him down badly and none of them should be anywhere a club such as ours.
But you wanted us to sign Macaulay Langstaff who is 26 and has only played one full season of football above the 6th tier of English football.
Langstaff is garbage, L2 level at best and you can copy that and get ready to paste it for as long as you choose.

The Argyle fans are saying we're the best team they've played this season, for what it's worth.
Yep I got the same from an Argyle fan outside the ground. Said he felt he'd mugged us...in between laughing at how bad Sam Gallagher was

Only good thing about today is that I was home for 18:00 👎
Referee and linesman in front of us gave us nowt. Linesman an absolute disgrace.
That throw in he didn't give along with the obvious corner were 2 of the worst decisions I've ever seen.

Can't believe we have lost that, never mind lost it 3 nil. We're crying out for a number 9 that lives for scoring goals because the one we have certainly doesn't.
There's a lot on this Bosnian lad, cos, based on what I saw today, he needs to bag 15 goals minimum this season.
1st 20 minutes though, some of the best football I've seen in years....

In regard to their goal I'm not going to dig him out for not saving the header but not coming out to claim it in the six yard box was very poor.
