  1. “It’s only our second year after coming up from League One” - Tony Mowbray, Sky Pre-Game Interview 20/08/19 Someone remind me how long we were down there for? The years flew by.
  2. Won’t be. It’ll be Gallagher on the wing again.
  3. Persevering without Graham.
  4. He must have genuinely thought that people would see the prize freeze as a real term reduction. Who is he using as a sounding board? Don’t the FF tell him when he is barking up the wrong tree? This half-hearted last minute pledge seems like a desperate attempt to get his targets without compromising his pricing strategy. The other problem is, if he doesn’t hit his target this year, he may decide that the fanbase isn’t price sensitive and simple increase prices again next year. You want numbers? The price is £199 Riverside and £239 BBE.
  5. https://www.efl.com/news/2019/august/efl-statement-bury-fc-update3/ If Bury don’t jump through the EFL’s fiery hoops by Friday they are out of the league. There will only be three relegation places not four so no opportunity given to another League Two team, just a reprieve for a L1 side. What odds on Bolton staying up in that additional safe spot?
  6. Because it’s cheaper? At atmosphere and something different is a great idea but at the end of the day, it’s about shifting the product. If they make it too expensive for a low grade product people won’t buy it. Everyone knows Fosters is a cheap beer and they are charging what they like because they think they can. It’s just another small minus on a long list of small minuses on Waggott’s watch. Fans are no longer the most important thing in the ground.
  7. Probably cheaper to look after their mum for the rest of her life than buy Bury.
  8. Well that’s one way of doing it!
  9. The oxymoron being that they brought in Mowbray.
  10. Of course they are going through the motions. They don’t do anything but increase prices and expect the ‘committed’ to pay up.
  11. So we are paying Southport ‘decent beer’ prices for drinking pish in Blackburn. Great. I certainly won’t be buying it.
  12. I’ve started accidentally typing Bowyer instead of Mowbray. And not just because they share most of the letters! You know things have stagnated when people start using stability as a reason to keep a manager.
  13. You’ve been emphatic about things in the past. What makes you so sure they won’t survive?
  14. So why not just promote them when they moved Johnson?
  15. Young lads did really well in that second half. Definitely good value for a draw. Some swift and pretty fearless counterattacking football. Could have finished 2-2 in the dying minutes. Leicester one on one and Fisher equal to it. Mols with some tricky play and straight at the keeper. Chapman looked good too.
  16. The first team should have a huge say in who manages the development squad. If he doesn’t that’s a recipe for disaster. Now whether Mowbray is the right man for either we will find out in the fullness of time. What fantastic fortune and/or great planning. Imagine having the perfect manager with the best CV right under our noses! We needn’t have bothered scouring the country advertising. On our own website. Yes, I’m hugely now suspicious of Johnson being promoted. He looks to have been promoted out of a role rather than into one while we have downgraded. We had a very successful outfit there and now that looks to be coming to an end. If I were an U23 player coming through right now I’d be, privately, very disappointed.
  17. If they get through this, this episode could well galvanise the club and it’s supporters. Young lads (16/17yo) giving their all for their club. Fans don’t forget things like that. Could be a few heroes being smelted in the furnace of oblivion. The wage bill there must be peanuts at the moment too.
  18. Fair play to him for applying but who was the competition he was up against? On the face of it this is more evidence of Mowbray sticking with what/who he knows and rewarding loyalty. Lowest cost, narrowest search, and least imagination.
  19. We kept our powder dry in January don’t forget. Stocking up on 12 years worth of pies was the reason.
  20. Good point. This is a Cat 1 Academy and there are only 24 of them. There should be no shortage of candidates.
  21. 2,800 x £4.50 beer = £12,600 3,500 x £3.60 pie = £12,600 (!) Total matchday takings, £25,200 £7,000,000 is 278 food/match days. 23 games per season = 12 seasons.
  22. It’s always like that, stop fishing. There’s a lot more to talk about after a defeat than a 1-0 win. The chat has actually been pretty positive when it could have been a lot more concerned. Some shoots of digress but we now have a very thin squad (midfield aside) and rely on no injuries to key players.
  23. C’mon JBN, this was before stability and the days of SAS (Singh, Agnew, and Shaw). It wasn’t potting them that was the problem per se, it was that they all allegedly had different replacements lined up and didn’t like anyone else’s pick.
  24. I do wonder how we’d have got on had we not been given a penalty. Couldn’t realistically see Boro scoring (they were poor) but really couldn’t see us scoring either. Three league games gone and we await our first goal from open play. (Lucas João has two for two different clubs!)
  25. Everything we do smacks of a business plan that makes sense... on paper. In reality ordinary Blackburners are being priced out.
