  1. I fear that with Mowbray still in charge we will struggle to get 5,000 ST holders. The lockdown restrictions being (eventually) lifted could see record numbers of fans flock back to football matches but with Waggott likely introducing yet another (we’ve-done-all-we-can) price hike it could be the final nail in our coffin. The bloke has the imagination of a cabbage. Venkys could just as easily announce Mark Hughes as our new manager as announce thy are liquidating the club!
  2. Interesting post. Mowbray is not as despised as Kean was, not by a long stretch. But even when Kean was here there was hope, there was an outlet. Enough people cared enough to try to bring about a change. Ultimately, IMHO, they did as they brought Shebby to the fore and things became very uncomfortable for him from that moment onwards. This time out, it just feels relentless. A constant recurring theme of mediocrity, with no bogeyman, nobody to complain to and nobody who cares enough to complain, not even most other fans. And it just goes on forever. It must have been how Bill Murray’s character felt in Groundhog Day at the point he was trying to end it all. Conversely, for many fans Mowbray is the best and only man for the job - until he eventually does leave, at which point those same fans will say he had gone past his sell-by date and it was the right time to leave. But not a minute sooner.
  3. I’m guessing that nobody is in their ear about there being anything wrong, let alone him needing to be replaced (and there being “just the guy ready to take over”). It’s just Mowbray, Venus and Waggot. At this stage it’s looking like Suhail is utterly redundant and no longer has the ear of the family - probably don’t even take his calls. Or he’s now simply the fourth leg propping up the easy chair that is: running Blackburn Rovers Football Club. Nice work if you can get it.
  4. What do all of these players have in common?
  5. Ha! Lemon drizzle cheesecake was going to be mine! What have we become as a club? We are all so resigned to the fact that this bloke is going to be our manager no matter what. And there’s absolutely nothing we can do about it but laugh. This must be what happens when people get complacent about the chances of relegation. Part of me thinks: let’s hope Venky’s (bank) have very deep pockets, but then this other part of me feels sad at what has happened (and continues to happen) to our club. And the football is shit! Meanwhile the emperor’s new tailors and “influencers” continue to tell us all how great it all is and how ungrateful, miserable, clueless (another staple comment) Rovers plastic fans are. While the plastic (seating) is the thing that’s actually most visible at Ewood at this point! I look forward to the next time some Facebook duffer says “were r all the Mowbray haters now???” (sic) because it’ll at least mean we’ve won a couple of games in a row...
  6. Don’t worry nobody will listen anyway!
  7. It was always going to be tough against a side like Doncaster. We did well to stay in it for as long as we did and make a contest of it. Donny have to be one of the favourites for this competition so it’s no shame to go out only conceding the one wonder goal. (He ran all the way from the half way line before smashing that rocket under Pears. Buffon wouldn't have saved that!). With all of the injuries we have, with FFP and the lack of support from our fans we can’t expect miracles from Mowbray. He’s got us playing some great possession-based football (nearly 70% again today) and with a better referee, a bit of luck and when we get Dack, Travis and Brereton back we’ll be a force. It's ridiculous to expect Mowbray to do anything without them. Armstrong is a player who can change games for us but it just wasn't to be today. We had so many chances, so you have to blame the players really. Hope Mowbray gets a new contract. Preferably this evening. Extra time would have been terrible and we need to fully focus on finishing better than last season in the league - but if we don't it won't be because of Mowbray. Did I miss anything?
  8. Brilliant saves. He had no right to make that second one. Poor play from Dack not to put that nowhere hear him.
  9. We really do have too many of the same type of player. Armstrong, Dolan, Elliott, Rothwell and Dack and, to and extent, Brereton. All on at the expense of our midfield. I predict another Donny goal.
  10. Yes, he was allowed to run too far but it was a poor shot that any competent keeper should save.
  11. Pears to blame for that goal I’m afraid.
  12. Travis gets bookings on reputation at this point.
  13. That was like a bullet. Would have been an awesome goal.
  14. That pitch is atrocious. No excuse for not investing in the stadium. Even now we are still reliant on what Jack did for this club.
  15. Looks like FA player is at least 30-45 seconds behind live. You’ve been warned.
  16. Wouldn’t surprise me. But that’s an awful reason.
  17. Football teams need consistency. Kaminski should be in the team unless he is unfit. There’s a reason Friedel was our best ever keeper and it wasn’t just about his ability and professionalism.
  18. Didn’t even clock that. Yep, that’s an abysmal back four. Could we not have at least loaned Carter after this game?
  19. So why is Pears starting with Kaminski on the bench?
  20. Not sure I’d call it confidence. I have to believe that Mowbray isn’t a complete idiot.
  21. We absolutely must have a defender coming in to let Carter go with him being our only sub defender in recent weeks and all of our first team defenders are crocked half the time.
  22. I feel the same way. Cancelled my Skysports subscription in March and haven’t really missed it. Now even if I watch the odd game on Amazon I only really half watch. It has become completely soulless and even the results don’t inspire. The rot started when BT Sport came in and meant the most interesting games that I would have watched now cost more so on principle I started to watch less. The interest started to wane from then on. The lockdown and subsequent re-opening without fans betrayed what I’ve long felt: that the PL is the only show in town and fans are no longer necessary. Politics has also been allowed to get a stranglehold on a game where the only important issue should be the team you support. Why? Because of money, TV and the ‘global audience’. The game I loved is gone and has been replaced by a fake version where players cheat and rules are enforced in slow-motion on technicalities.
