Except for the fact that Lambert wouldn’t put up with it and walked. Something people still hold against him. Can’t have it both ways. Given what has happened when Mowbray has been given a sizeable budget I’m not at all surprised that he now has to get everyone checked out first. He can have no complaints if he has had his wings clipped. Not sure why either party puts up with each other depending on one’s perspective. That said, very concerning that there are “owners agents” involved. Someone remind me what Waggott is doing for his money if he isn’t even involved in any budget discussions, he isn’t maintaining the ground, and he isn’t selling tickets?

Nyambe needs to be settled as our right back. To keep dropping him to play Bennett harms the team, and harms Nyambe.

Sadly very true. And even worse they tend to go at the end of their contracts and we only get a tribunal fee because of a lack of foresight and ambition. Luckily we have a vociferous enough element of the fanbase who always blame the departing player - usually greedy or having a “bad attitude“ - thereby giving the management license to repeat the same mistakes with impunity.

What a bunch of idiots. Don’t they realise that they won’t sell any because their fans won’t be able to wear them to nip to the Asda in case someone notices they are a fans of the club?! Wait, no, isn’t that the whole point...? ?

No. If women paid less than men for a first team ticket that would be sexist. You are paying the market rate for the level of football you are watching. (Debatable with Rovers mind). Interestingly, as you mention sexism, I read recently that England’s international players now earn the same basic pay regardless of sex. Which suggests the men’s game must now be subsidising the women’s as the economics don’t work otherwise. (Happy to be proven wrong). The whole gender gap in football is based on a false premise: they are all doing the same job. Conference League men don’t get paid the same as Premier League men though. ? https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2020/09/03/england-women-paid-equal-match-fees-bonuses-male-counterparts/ Sorry. Back to non-existent transfers...

No idea. My personal view is that there is a balance and that we shouldn’t go into games pitching ourselves as underdogs against lower league opponents and picking a defensive side. But all managers talk bollocks in press conferences.

We do have a good young crop coming through. Just got to keep them together for the next three years and get two experienced loanees each season.
-
Managers say all kinds of crap about each other before and after games. It’s just football politics. We had managers telling us all how good Kean was when he was here. Not a single one of them offered him even a coaching role.

Another example of a great fan concept kit. Would have absolutely bought this. A guy called Daniel Lilley over on Facebook.

A good work out. Fortunate in the end to get a draw but it would have been very unfortunate not to. As always results aren’t that important in friendlies. However, we really should know at this point (and ideally be playing) the first XI that will start the first game of the season. I’m not sure we do.

Fisher was very poor there. Very lucky to get away with that.
-
So glad we nicked one there. Well deserved. Williams of all people. Might just have sealed a transfer for him...!
-
That’s a real shame. Fisher has just given Mowbray and easy way to drop him. He’s done well until that.

How is there no injury time? There was a minimum 5 minute break for one injury. It’s still a football match! ??♂️

Good spell this.
-
Soooo close. Well done (again) by Nyambe.
-
That Armstrong free kick summed up our transfer window. Lots of waiting around with nothing happening and then abject disappointment! ?
-
Decent bit of football there. Johnson normally arrows them on target.
-
Well they did get promoted. The problem is we’ve not upgraded it since.

Not sure what your point is except to have your usual pop. Nothing in your post responds in any way to mine.

The new away shirt is what it is. Bog standard, one up from Umbro teamwear. Some will like it, some won’t. What I think is lost in all this is that the cost difference in the design-to-manufacture process is very minimal regardless of the pattern. A great design doesn’t cost any more to manufacture than a distinctly average one. But when you expect people to pay over £50 to buy one, it really should look attractive. Like everything else at Rovers at the minute it seems to be whatever takes the least amount of effort. The mantra seems to be “fans will buy it no matter what”. Sadly we don’t have enough fans, or indeed affluent enough, for this to be an economically viable approach. We need to be appealing to people from a cost/benefit perspective: ”The ticket prices are great value - I’m definitely getting one and I’ll encourage others to as well” ”The shirt is awesome I’m definitely getting one - even at £55” Rovers other tactic under this lot is to make the alternative option even worse. We get average designs which mean lower production runs so the cost is higher based on volume and we use scarcity to try to drive sales. Similarly, if/when they can be offered, expect walk on prices to be obscene. The sole purpose being to shift STs and bundles at the ST rate. The coup de grâce in both cases is to question the commitment and/or loyalty of people who won’t immediately buy.

Not a fan of Hanley, and I thought he was a poor captain, but he might have that fear factor that keeps others on their toes. If he could have the type of second-time-around impact that Hendry had it could be just what we need.

It’s a great point. Our European Scouting Network always come to BRFCS first to get ideas for players. C’mon man, it makes no difference if we come up with names or not - and even if we did/do it just becomes another debate and realism vs lining up Mowbray to fail. Our recruitment woes begin and end with Mowbray. The manager. Like every club. Except at every other club failure to get it right results in dismissal - especially if you blow £12m that we don’t have.
