Bristol City (H) - Saturday 20th June - 3pm KO
Stuart replied to a topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
New depths. It would be bad enough if Mulgrew was on the bench but if he starts on Saturday then Mowbray has lost the plot. Even at this stage of the season, Mulgrew would be taking up a spot that could be occupied by a youth player. -
British Airways are doing the exact same thing with flights. They are giving people the impression that only credit notes (vouchers) can be applied for but as soon as you do, you give up your right to a refund. The difference is BA are doing this with customers while Rovers are doing it to their most loyal supporters (ST holders). Treating people with utter contempt. I wonder why most other clubs haven’t done it the way Rovers have. Maybe they want to keep their fans? ??♂️

The crowd noise seems quite pathetic. Another example of real life fans being unnecessary. The players will no doubt be laughing about how rocking the place must have been back when Hughes and Williams were here. What a club we were. Now, literally a shell. -

Really don’t understand the logic of having a friendly with Liverpool before the re-start. A chance for players to get signed shirts? A morale-sapping encounter with no fans around to generate interest and income. Where was this kind of friendly in proper pre-season? We didn’t have any!! They shouldn’t be having to “pick themselves up” they should have been “raring to go”. Meanwhile I expect Bristol City will be quite upbeat after a 3-2 defeat against Southampton. -

To quote the yoof of today... that’s sketchy AF. Glad I cancelled. -

My feelings about this weekend’s match at this moment are of morbid curiosity. But I’m not worried, they will soon return to deep disappointment. If we can beat Bristol then all of a sudden things will get a lot more interesting. Of course... we won’t. But we might! The life of a Rovers fan. -
Great post Matt. The trouble with Waggott is that his lack of understanding here (or willingness to listen*) means he is actively going out his way to make this worse. Charging increased prices for potential crowd fillers. But I continue to take issue with the club (under his watch) not doing anything to increase the floating fan numbers and instead whacking huge prices in concessions. £7.50 for a pie and a pint is ridiculous but they keep pushing this as though it is some kind of great deal. Ignorance and arrogance is a bad combination. *I do wonder what the Fans Forum are saying at club meetings.

Support like that comes from a club with a feelgood factor. We don’t have that. We have a manager who lacks ambition on the pitch and a chief exec who lacks the same off it. ”Get the most out of what we’ve got” seems to be the mantra. If we didn’t have rich owners that would seem fair enough on the pitch. If you can’t afford to bring in quality then you have to make do - but we spent £12m on two “prospects” (lest we forget) so we did have money. A decent manager would have done wonders with that. He wouldn’t be needing 8 new signings the season after to have a balanced, capable team. Off the pitch the same mantra rings hollow - with no evidence that there is any attempt to bring in new fans by ticket offers which result in increased footfall. “Right troops. We’ve signed up for that cardboard offer, if the 200 fans on Fb buy one each that’s still 5k. But remember everyone, if anyone phones up bleating about having ‘lost their job’ (yawn) or ‘needing the money’ (rolleyes) then tell them they aren’t proper fans... and then get them to buy a cut-out to atone for their sins“. Feelgood feels a good way off yet. I suspect it will be a generation after Venkys have sold up - and it will be relative to the division we are in. That’s if we have a club.
-
I wouldn’t be at all surprised if the EFL were the ones funding the iFollow option to appease fans.
-
This cardboard cut out thing is a very poor idea and is certain to look pretty pathetic. In principle, you’d have a full ground of faces and the place would look as though fans were present. Pipe in some crowd noise and Sky can keep pushing the virus through their News channels so they can make BCD permanent for their Sports channels! (I jest of course - I think!) We are being taken the piss out of. 4 home games left - pay £25 (£6 per match) to show you are a super fan. It is absolutely another way to milk fans. No fans allowed = no cut outs bought.
-
Yeah, I did consider them as the oppo for Chelsea. To be fair, Chelsea only really get in because of Abramovic’s cash. But for that they’d be in the Championship with Millwall.
-
These are the kind of initiatives that would be applauded at a club where: - They didn’t have billionaire owners (“desperate to fund success” unless we are being lied to) - Board members weren’t on up to £300k (even during a crippling pandemic) - Players has taken a pay cut to help the club (we’re all in it together) - Those in charge saw the most faithful fans as assets to be cherished rather than to be exploited by price hikes and guilt trips - It was recognised that some fans would happily donate or accept iFollow, while a small number of others desperately needed that refund (offered by other clubs) due to devastating change in circumstances - There hasn’t been 10 years of piss-takes and squandering by those in charge, with no regard for fans who have stuck around - even through the ignominy and embarrassment of relegation to the third tier If the mission has been to alienate fans then the current board are doing NOTHING to turn that around. Take a pay cut Waggott and you’ll get some respect. Keep taking your exorbitant wage while telling us that we must support our club and you can foxtrot oscar.
-
Wow, that’s both pathetic and patronising! With Waggott’s policy seemingly being to disregard fans at all costs I can’t see how on earth he thinks this will squeeze more cash out of fans. ”Your support is 4 mill thick!”

Yet we are frightened to death about an embargo! Who’s kidding who here? Weren’t Big Club the side who, under Honest ‘Arry, were given a free pass by Huddersfield (who also avoided sanctions despite breaking league rules) at our expense? Something tells me that city clubs are being given a helping hand because it suits TV companies to have them in and around the PL. Sky’s wet dream PL: Man City v United Liverpool v Everton Arsenal v Spurs Brum v Villa Newcastle v Sunderland Chelsea v Leeds Derby v Leicester Sheff Utd v Wednesday Southampton v Portsmouth Cardiff v Swansea Although I’m sure they’d bin one off Derby-Leicester or Southampton-Portsmouth if they thought they could get Celtic v Rangers.

That’s usually down to the monitor, no? My laptop has both a display port adapter and a usb-c. The latter is very versatile.

Goals invloved in Under Tony Mowbray
Stuart replied to Prelude's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Players stats boosted by being the best players in League One for a season. -
Yes, I did. Apologies. By the way, is there no way you could connect a HDMI cable to your laptop and use your TV as a second screen?
-
A different take on the no refund policy and instead offering games on iFollow. If the club offered STs next season on the following basis... 1) iFollow home and away games “for free” while games are BCD 2) A return to the ground at some point over the season (at which point iFollow would cease) ....would people pay £350+ for a 2021/22 ST?
-
Surely if one or two players get COVID they need to all isolate? Especially when there is the concept of false negatives? Otherwise it is just allowing football to be a breeding ground. Anywho... I’d rather have a couple of youth players over Smallwood and Mulgrew.
-
So half capacity and then 1/5th of that. 31,000 —> 15,500 —> 3,100 fans Probably be fine for next season at this rate. Just imagine the Twitter spin as we sell out every game. (At least you’d hope we’d sell out )
-
Good post. The current regime don’t seem to recognise the core supporters, nor does it try to attract new buyers. It behaves like it has a captive market who will just pay their money because of the badge on the shirt. Whether ST or walk-on. No real offers just smaller portions of the ST model. I’ve never known such a blasé attitude towards fans. “If they don’t come just blame them”. This might have been the case before Venkys arrived but 10 years of being ignored and treated like shit tends to take its toll on people.
-
Why are we worrying about the fitness of Smallwood and Mulgrew? Very odd that they are involved at this stage.
-
How would Venkys using their own money to refund supporters count towards FFP? We are in the midst of a global epidemic! Normal rules seem to be very selectively applied.
