  1. Someone else beat you to it a couple of hours ago!! I said sorry then!
  2. Does 1 part game since Summer = proof of fitness. Not sure it does
  3. Regarding Boro's interest, surely the only person with Sheffield connections' opinion that matters in this would be the Boro's boss whose dealt with the player before. If Burke was as bad as many on here say surely the Boro boss wouldnt touch him with a barge pole?
  4. For the chance to see their faces, yes but not sure his style would fit ours. He would be good as a plan B or the Danny Graham type for the imminent Bradley Dack return
  5. Graham no and possibly Mulgrew and Bennett no. Evans and Smallwood both given extensions and probably rises whist in their 20s so yes there is a comparison in ages.
  6. Really? I dont see the stories of the PL clubs lining up to sign him. Not even Alan Nixon. He is important to us at present granted but lets not get carried away. He has potential to be premiership material but most clubs dont need potential at this stage of the season.
  7. I agree in principle in what you say but what happens if they stay and we get relegated after one season? If we do sign them on 15-20k/week there would be many on here still complaining that they would still be a drain on resources. People said that about Smallwood when he got his contract but soon turned when things did not go well. Also 130 million you estimate for a season in the premiership still does not recover existing debt so I think every pound in wages is not puny. All three players up until this season have divided opinion of if they were good enough for us so lets not get carried away with it would be easy to shift them.
  8. Like they did with Scott Sellars and David May. I know both were here before Williams started but can we stop with the Walker and Williams thing? They didn't always wave the magic wand and get it right. They did get things wrong as well. From what Ive heard, its not necesarily the players but the agents being the issue. Lets not stop the beating of Waggot over certain things and in time this maybe true here. It would be great if these players were signed but lets not forget recent history. Remember when we came up from Div.1 we gave out bigger contracts to the heroes of that campaign only for 12 months later everyone complained their contracts were too big and long. It maybe that they are after longer length contracts and if we were to give them what they want and go up then what happens? 12 months down the line and these players are stinking out the premiership out there would be those on here asking why did we give long contracts to these donkeys as they were never good enough for the premiership even though they'll be the ones demanding they get signed up now.
  9. Genuine question....when was SG's contract up? I know Mowbray has had him play RB but I would say priority is to sign players whose contracts are up or replacements not players who at present are understudys and contracts arent in danger of running out.
  10. Win your home games, dont lose your away ones.
  11. As Ive said several times this season, when SG has played down the middle he has scored goals. At the moment though Diaz has the shirt. Other players signing I would have thought would have been a priority.
  12. Those type of players sound great until you start putting the likes of Danny Murphy in there as well
  13. You are both right. Success does bring the fans out likewise people wont pay to go and watch rubbish in a hostile or at best a dead environment. Last season you could have charged a quid and you'll still wouldn't have got 15,000 on. Special one off games of 15 quid on the back of the present success would improve attendances and hopefully the returning fans enjoy it enough to go again at full whack. It would be like the Oxford game again but this time the club need to build on it. Im gutted I cant go on Sunday as the dreaded Rona has got me. Its the first time in a long time that Im gutted to be missing it. We have to be favourites and but it doesnt surprise me that always happy fans on here are the fortune tellars of doom.
  14. I actually think that Devonport was beginning to show signs but appears to have been discarded for Johnson on the bench. I always doubted his ability before but I think he should be given the chance over someone whose legs have gone to cover the ground in midfield. A lot presuming we've signed the Irish full back based on one Twitter post.
  15. I'm not looking to beat him with that player though just offering a level of balance, there is a bit of a difference. If makes bold statements about players then it is fine to question them. To offer a level of balance, I know Sparks can be as guilty as most on here.
  16. When Sparks sang about Whteman he was at Doncaster not Nobbers. If he has coached players who now at North End then of course he is going to sing about them. I'm a local scout leader and if any of scouts had joined a local side Id sing their praises but they haven't. I agree the majority on here are negative but that has not always been the case. The last eleven years have brought mainly negativity about the club so its only logically the majority of the posts would be negative. Likewise I think there is too much name calling and bitching on here but it is still at times a good read. That is why I still look on and occasionally contribute. It is good JBiz that you contribute and offer a balance opinion.
  17. I don't necessarily agree with most things he says but likewise I don't necessarily agree with what you say Paul but he is entitled to an opinion. He has expanded his thoughts with usually an alternative. At the moment he looks like he called Buckley wrong but last season you'd have struggled to find many who'd disagree with him. Cudos to you as your sources kept telling us how good he was. It was not embarrassing although his support of Stefan Mols possibly was.
  18. Not quite....I dont doubt Sparks' local youth knowledge but I agree he does seem to have downer on any players linked to our academy. Just like you go defensive if anyone says anything negative about Rovers. I will defend him in that he did not rubbish Phillips just that he wasn't ready. As Phillips has little senior experience compared to Hill then Sparks is right. I also remember him saying we should sign a young centre half from Fleetwood in the past. Souttar's injury record is a major concern as was Ayala's. No sensible person cannot be failed to be concerned but if his arrival is on an incentive driven appearance bonus and relative low salary then that cant be a bad thing. I would also allow Carter to leave on loan allowing an extra CH place.
  19. If they leave in January I would hope they will not qualify if promotion is achieved as it does not seem to be contractal. If they sign a pre-contract for someone in January and leave and we go up they will still qualify for the full whack
  20. If they qualify for the bonus, then they've done their job. I still can't see anybody else higher up the league signing them so any move would be downwards and their move would be mercenary ie more money. It could be their one chance of premiership glory and they would walk for money alone. If thats the case they can do one.
