  1. I'm not looking to beat him with that player though just offering a level of balance, there is a bit of a difference. If makes bold statements about players then it is fine to question them. To offer a level of balance, I know Sparks can be as guilty as most on here.
  2. When Sparks sang about Whteman he was at Doncaster not Nobbers. If he has coached players who now at North End then of course he is going to sing about them. I'm a local scout leader and if any of scouts had joined a local side Id sing their praises but they haven't. I agree the majority on here are negative but that has not always been the case. The last eleven years have brought mainly negativity about the club so its only logically the majority of the posts would be negative. Likewise I think there is too much name calling and bitching on here but it is still at times a good read. That is why I still look on and occasionally contribute. It is good JBiz that you contribute and offer a balance opinion.
  3. I don't necessarily agree with most things he says but likewise I don't necessarily agree with what you say Paul but he is entitled to an opinion. He has expanded his thoughts with usually an alternative. At the moment he looks like he called Buckley wrong but last season you'd have struggled to find many who'd disagree with him. Cudos to you as your sources kept telling us how good he was. It was not embarrassing although his support of Stefan Mols possibly was.
  4. Not quite....I dont doubt Sparks' local youth knowledge but I agree he does seem to have downer on any players linked to our academy. Just like you go defensive if anyone says anything negative about Rovers. I will defend him in that he did not rubbish Phillips just that he wasn't ready. As Phillips has little senior experience compared to Hill then Sparks is right. I also remember him saying we should sign a young centre half from Fleetwood in the past. Souttar's injury record is a major concern as was Ayala's. No sensible person cannot be failed to be concerned but if his arrival is on an incentive driven appearance bonus and relative low salary then that cant be a bad thing. I would also allow Carter to leave on loan allowing an extra CH place.
  5. If they leave in January I would hope they will not qualify if promotion is achieved as it does not seem to be contractal. If they sign a pre-contract for someone in January and leave and we go up they will still qualify for the full whack
  6. If they qualify for the bonus, then they've done their job. I still can't see anybody else higher up the league signing them so any move would be downwards and their move would be mercenary ie more money. It could be their one chance of premiership glory and they would walk for money alone. If thats the case they can do one.
  7. Not quite sure thats quite right. A good manager plays to the strengths of the squad. If that squad has a natural focal point then you build the squad to maximise the focal point. Was Dalglish a poor manager building his team to maximise Shearer or Dean Smith with Grealish? Ideally you have a squad with several such players but thats not always the case.
  8. I agree with most of your post @Roversfan99, but I disagree about the Armstrong bit in part. I dont think with Armstrong in the team you'd have seen Brereton's chage this season. The focus of the team would have been Armstrong and Ben would have been the supporting striker, I can't see Armstrong doing the donkey work that Dolan or Khadra do in this season's team. Armstrong going has forced Mowbray into a change of style which has worked. After watching the Fulham game, and even when Sam Gallagher came on against Birmingham, Mowbray still has a liking to shunt Brereton out wide and nulify him so Armstrong going has been to benefit of the team.
  9. They probably would off but lets not forget the terms of engagement have changed. The cheapest players now are probably on the wages that JW/JW faced. I agree that Williams probably have increased the income sources that we need but I still maintain that the agents hold the power. Having too many players whose contracts are ending at once was always going to bring the club facing down a barallel. Do the three players have the same agent btw?
  10. Having watched the goal again he played the percentage ball but I still dont think it can be used as good example. Anyway the outcome was right so he can tell me to shut the F*** up and I'm wrong. Lets enjoy the win. There was actually another option which Im gald he didnt try and go and slot it in at the near post.
  11. Maybe but after all the bad news around the club maybe a little optimism is what the supporters require!
  12. With three defenders and the keeper between Nyambe and BBD. If we were defending in that position Id be very disappointed if my keeper pushed that out. Maybe Im being a little harsh on Nyambe but I still maintain it is not a good example of a good final ball. A good final ball to me must find a player in Blue n White directly not rely on a degree of luck
  13. How can you disagree? He puts the ball across the six yard box, the nearest Rovers player was Buckley approaching the penalty spot. The keeper then pushes the ball out to Buckley. Dont get me wrong Nyambe did brilliantly to get in the position but the final ball was not a good example of the how Nyambe's final ball has improved. Nyambe had a good game and as the game went one he had plenty of attacking play but his final ball still needs some work.
  14. The keeper really should have held Nyambe's cross. Did he pick anyone out? No. To use that as an argument about end product really does not hold up too well
  15. As you say the better players were desirable but in most circumstances, when a club called and a player wanted to leave we ended up selling. End of contract never came into the equation. The player got his way. I grant you I can only remember Neill keeping his options open to the end but the players usually held the power. The Colin Hendry fiasco where he signed a contract one day to change his mind the day after and forced a move to Rangers proved that the players held power and even the great Mr Williams could not control that. The issue is that we have so many player's contracts up at once. The fact that so many players are waiting just goes to show how big a mistake that is.
  16. Yes its a great example. Lucas wanted to leave for a better deal. He refused a better deal and got the deal HE or his agent wanted. I used it as Gav said the even great John Williams would not allow these incidents to happen. I was just proving that in times past the club cannot control it. Granted I can't remember so many being up at once nor am I defending the present Rovers staff just pointing out that it has happened before. What became of Neill after or where he went to is irrelevent. Some may say his bankruptency as Karma
  17. Massive promotion bonus and premiership wages if we go up would be ideal to dangle in front of the players. Then its a question of if they believe in themselves or the squad.
  18. Remember Lucas Neill? Even the great John Williams could not stop player power when they want to run their contract down.
  19. How and why does Mowbray bring doom back? The please come and buy my star player mantra is just like last season with Armstrong? Why cant he keep his mouth shut and let us enjoy the moment.
  20. The only place that Dack fits in the team is as a sub. He cannot displace anyone automatically that will undo all the work to unite this group of players. Bucko cannot be dropped.
