  1. Not sure, he always struck me as a player who was always better when he wasn't playing. At least he could fill Corry Evans spot in the t...........reatment room!!
  2. With his once a week presenting gig at Talksport and coaching at Arsenal, Id be surprised he is seriously looking. If a London club is desperate enough then I think he may try to play.
  3. I'm not saying it worked all the time. As previous seasons have proved Mowbray's teams have one way of playing only, whether that's this season's style, last season's possession bore or playing off Danny Graham. I much prefer this season's efforts but as I've said earlier there are times when things aren't going to plan. A more direct style where we can by pass midfield and get to the front men can be effective late on in games. For that to be effective we need someone who is comfortable with their back to goal like a Graham in his prime. The ability to mix things up is an ability that we could help us over the line.
  4. Same was said when we signed Danny Graham. He could hold the ball, trick centre halves into giving away free kicks. Are you saying you can see that in Sam Gallagher, Im afraid I cant. I not saying we need to change everything but after an hour sometimes the ability to buy a free kick is a skill I think Rovers miss at the moment.
  5. Thought we had that already with the midfield that contains Buckley and Rothwell, but at times conditions and opposoition formations prevent this being effective. At times a bit more Agricultral football is needed. The key is variation
  6. Agree but we do need a plan B, not just plan A with different personnel if things aren't working. Playing off a target man could be an option especially with heavy pitches. Its beyond coincidence that Rovers' poorer games in our great run is PNE and Huddesfield after torrential downpours. Dack's ability in finding space in and around the box was key to many of his goals with Graham. I cant see SG giving that ability to hold and lay the ball off. I'm worried that with two serious knee injuries that box to box is a bit much to expect now.
  7. Someone else beat you to it a couple of hours ago!! I said sorry then!
  8. Does 1 part game since Summer = proof of fitness. Not sure it does
  9. Regarding Boro's interest, surely the only person with Sheffield connections' opinion that matters in this would be the Boro's boss whose dealt with the player before. If Burke was as bad as many on here say surely the Boro boss wouldnt touch him with a barge pole?
  10. For the chance to see their faces, yes but not sure his style would fit ours. He would be good as a plan B or the Danny Graham type for the imminent Bradley Dack return
  11. Graham no and possibly Mulgrew and Bennett no. Evans and Smallwood both given extensions and probably rises whist in their 20s so yes there is a comparison in ages.
  12. Really? I dont see the stories of the PL clubs lining up to sign him. Not even Alan Nixon. He is important to us at present granted but lets not get carried away. He has potential to be premiership material but most clubs dont need potential at this stage of the season.
  13. I agree in principle in what you say but what happens if they stay and we get relegated after one season? If we do sign them on 15-20k/week there would be many on here still complaining that they would still be a drain on resources. People said that about Smallwood when he got his contract but soon turned when things did not go well. Also 130 million you estimate for a season in the premiership still does not recover existing debt so I think every pound in wages is not puny. All three players up until this season have divided opinion of if they were good enough for us so lets not get carried away with it would be easy to shift them.
  14. Like they did with Scott Sellars and David May. I know both were here before Williams started but can we stop with the Walker and Williams thing? They didn't always wave the magic wand and get it right. They did get things wrong as well. From what Ive heard, its not necesarily the players but the agents being the issue. Lets not stop the beating of Waggot over certain things and in time this maybe true here. It would be great if these players were signed but lets not forget recent history. Remember when we came up from Div.1 we gave out bigger contracts to the heroes of that campaign only for 12 months later everyone complained their contracts were too big and long. It maybe that they are after longer length contracts and if we were to give them what they want and go up then what happens? 12 months down the line and these players are stinking out the premiership out there would be those on here asking why did we give long contracts to these donkeys as they were never good enough for the premiership even though they'll be the ones demanding they get signed up now.
  15. Genuine question....when was SG's contract up? I know Mowbray has had him play RB but I would say priority is to sign players whose contracts are up or replacements not players who at present are understudys and contracts arent in danger of running out.
  16. As Ive said several times this season, when SG has played down the middle he has scored goals. At the moment though Diaz has the shirt. Other players signing I would have thought would have been a priority.
  17. Those type of players sound great until you start putting the likes of Danny Murphy in there as well
  18. You are both right. Success does bring the fans out likewise people wont pay to go and watch rubbish in a hostile or at best a dead environment. Last season you could have charged a quid and you'll still wouldn't have got 15,000 on. Special one off games of 15 quid on the back of the present success would improve attendances and hopefully the returning fans enjoy it enough to go again at full whack. It would be like the Oxford game again but this time the club need to build on it. Im gutted I cant go on Sunday as the dreaded Rona has got me. Its the first time in a long time that Im gutted to be missing it. We have to be favourites and but it doesnt surprise me that always happy fans on here are the fortune tellars of doom.
  19. I actually think that Devonport was beginning to show signs but appears to have been discarded for Johnson on the bench. I always doubted his ability before but I think he should be given the chance over someone whose legs have gone to cover the ground in midfield. A lot presuming we've signed the Irish full back based on one Twitter post.
