  1. I agree wholeheartedily about the subs but due to the famly comittments I wasn't at the PNE game so think it unfair to comment as I've only seen very brief highlights but I will say I liked the idea of using Bennett's energy to counter PNE. I was honestly expecting it to be Smallwood recalled. On Saturday, all I was commenting on was asking why with evidence of previous games, not including the North End game, and the fact that Evans was stripped ready to come on why Chaddy questions what Stuart was thinking was not correct? Mowbrays approach is a duel approach of Management by Numbers and Safety first. There was nothing from Saturday to suggest otherwise. If there was then he wouldn't have Bell on the bench or have two defensive midfielders there, he would have likes of Butterworth, Chapman and Rankin-Costello there as well as Buckley. These are players who change the game positively.
  2. I also seem to remember a story doing the rounds that the guy who bought Leicester being refused the chance to look at the books by the people employed to sell the club. Just out of interest how have all the other companies that the Walker Trust were involved in done?
  3. Thats irrelevant, Stuart is right. Evans coming on was defensive. He was definitely coming on as he was stripped and taking instructions from the management team. As soon as the goal went in he was told to get a bib on and warm up again as the management team decided what to do next. As others have said I could understand it as the game was going away from Rovers. As Buckley was the most attacking option left they threw him on. I'll give the Management Team credit they analysised the situation, took there time and changed their mind and got lucky. Just one question Chaddy about your theory about Downing to left back with Evans coming into midfield. What makes you think that Mowbray was going to change his substitution roundabout of i. Change Centre Forward ii. Put Rothwell on and move Downing inside iii. Take Downing off, throw on another midfielder The goal changed the Management Team's mind and they got a huge slice of luck for once. It was great for it to happen to us for a change.
  4. We were one down to PNE before Bennett won a tackle which fired us up to go 2-1 up if I remember correctly. The Wigan game you are correct
  5. For a team so low confidence the of course one incident in a game can change things but youre right things appear much deeper. This is only going to end in two ways either Mowbray leaving or relegation
  6. Mowbray has already decided, Nyambe dropped Bennett back to right back
  7. In our group, there are doubts appearing but with the exception of me, they are all sticking with him for the moment.
  8. Key to today.....dont give our old boy the freedom of the park!!! Mowbray hasnt learnt that yet or Gally has bossed each game
  9. Possibly but Downing instead of Bell. Bell is at least a goal start for PNE
  10. Just a bit weary that we entering Lambert territory after Bowyer again.
  11. I agree its frustration with the tactics but it reduces the forward options as with no Graham in the team he is the onlt player capable of holding the ball. If he is to become a captain he has to mask his frustrations and play to the team's tactics however crap they are.
  12. I agree but he has a spell as Kirkham Open Prison manager to come shortly
  13. I suspect we'll be in Navy. That pale grey too close to white
  14. The problem with Dack is that at times he already thinks he has to do everything on his own. When h appears alongside the right back wanting a ball he is not hurting the opposoition. He porbably be alongside Walton wanting the ball if he was captain. If Lenihan could stay fit then he'd ne the obvious but he can't stay fit. Bennett is only in the team because he's captain. In cricket it can work, example Miike Brierley, but not in football Johnson has the experience but there is a mistake or two in him. Graham is no longer going to play every game. Travis would be my choice but is a Mowbray scapegoat so that leaves... Stuart Downing
  15. Shouldnt it be the target of every manager at the start of the season to finish top 6. It may not be possible or probable but it should be the aim. Sad to say too many set the target of finsihing fourth of bottom, low aspirations. Didn't Mowbray himself set top 6 as the target at the start of the season?
  16. Still think its our liking to stand off players running with the ball rather than the opposing manager's briiliance
  17. To be fair several times he covered for the badly out of position Bennett at left back but he is another who cannot last 90 minutes and tire after an hour. With the exception of Travis, most of our midfielders cannot last 90 minutes. Its why we end up defending on the edge of our box and rarely get forward late on the second half.
  18. Were probably picking up the medical costs and paying a percentage of his wages for the season as part of the loan agreement. Unless we are obliged to buy him at he end of the season
  19. Id agree with midfield 5 except for one thing. It would expose a below average left back. Im surprised Huddersfield did not carry on to expose Bennett yesterday. Johnson did a lot of covering at left back especially in the first half.
  20. Spot on. Nyambe several times went on the overlap but had to turn back especially in the first half. Dack is the only one who attacks in the box. He nearly got on the end of Armstrong dragged shot in the second half but none of our forwards bust a gut to get int the box when theyve been involved in build pay. They all just trot to the edge of the box. I agree that Armstrong had time but for once I agree with Chaddy. For 12 million pounds our forward line should be gambling and attacking the six yard line. It would have defenders facing their own goal and can create own goals. Shearer wouldnt of be coming in on the back post though, he'd have fought his way to be in front of a centre half as should a player with the physcial build of SG. Wilcox or even Le Saux would be around the back post area with the other player covering.
  21. Agree with most of this except the last bit. If we'd had played with Graham, we'd have just gone long to him because of Mowbray's tactics. What we need is when we get on the attacking third, we need players to get into the box and gamble to attack areas where we can get some efforts on target
  22. errr that one we won 2-0. I remember it well as it one of the few games Mowbray got his tactics right
  23. Surprised no one has mentioned Jason Wilcox from City yet. Could bring Foden on loan.....as he's not getting a game...only joking by the way
