  1. I agree that wouldn't matter who the manager is, or whether we sacked JDT or not. Given the constraints under which they all operate, the result would be the same eventually. JDT will probably get fed up at some point before his contacts up and look for another project. We 'll find someone else but the outcome will be the same. We'll lose another few hundred season-ticket holders, more local kids will look to Manchester and Liverpool for inspiration and the rest of us will live on our memories. We'll spend most of our time as a middling Championship club with the odd season in Div 1 and the odd promotion to the Championship to spice things up for a while. The size and frequency of our defeats this season is truly alarming. I can't believe we are really that bad. So something's very wrong. We'll be breathing a sigh of relief when we somehow get to 51 points. Not a good day to be a Rover.
  2. Its always 3 years down the line. I don't believe there is a plan. We just exist.
  3. And its not realistic to continue shopping in Poundland and expect a gourmet meal. We end up with the likes of Edun yet hope for promotion! Not going to happen.
  4. Not at all surprised to see those stats!
  5. I don't care if he thinks we are ready or not. I've had enough of 5 year projects. Football isn't like that anyway---you see your chance and you take it. I'm reminded often on here that we are third. Does that not mean anything? Have a decent January window and kick on I say.
  6. Big disappointment if we don't. The pack will get even closer. A must-win. I still prefer 3 in midfield and would go for Travis. Not thrilled by him this season but can't see an alternative. I'd probably drop Hedges but bring him or Wharton A on depending how the game is going. Probably for Gally the way he's been going.
  7. You don't need to say the club never gets it wrong, its implicit in your posting. "thought you were privy to all the finer details of the contract discussions"---not sure how you came to that conclusion, I'm as clueless about the details as you are. I do know however that if there are players you want to keep, you reward them incrementally, not leave them on their original wage till the contract is running out.
  8. That's plain silly. I'm assuming the club learned its lesson and those players benefitted. About time. I've no idea what we offered either of them. They didn't accept did they? The mistake was to let things run down so long and leave it too late. Your narrative is that the Club never gets it wrong and you have a few mates!
  9. If they're not realistic offers in the view of the player then what's the relevance?
  10. No, I agree with you there, although we see simple opportunities squandered all the time. I was thinking more of a recent back-heel for example, top drawer. But, we all have our views, I'm glad to see someone up-front with a touch of class beside Brereton personally. can be critical in some games,
  11. That's Dack's value. 2 or3 times a game he does something no-one else does. Sometimes the others take advantage of it, sometimes they don't.
  12. With 21% of possession!!! That puts that argument to bed. Possession apparently means nowt! (Let's hope Wills hasn't taken it out on the corgis!)
  13. Their achievements are even more astonishing then? Repeat---we get the same crowds (or better)---why can't we do it?
  14. What about Bournemouth? 13000 every home game!! Why can't we do it?
  15. We're a right bunch of mugs really when you think about it. Every transfer window we get all excited, throw names around like confetti, big build-up, hang on to every minute of the last day and then reality dawns and we post about how disappointed we are, who we should have got and who got them instead etc etc. Then the next window comes round and we start all over again as if the last one never happened! Like goldfish in a bowl we are and , like them, doomed to relive it! When was the last good transfer window? I honestly can't remember it. Pre-Venkys probably!
  16. Ever since the Burnley game he didn't play in?
  17. Good! At the very least, we need---a genuine striker and a real mid-fielder (tougher the better!)
  18. Our goal diff will probably edge us out of the six, if points don't. We've lost badly too often.
  19. Whatever we want, it'll be Venkys who decide. If they are determined to hold on to Rovers forever, they will. Sadly that seems to mean endless nothingness.
  20. I think this is right---we offered £2.5M and they turned it down. They then came back to us and took £1.5M, such were their financial circumstances. Widely discussed on Coventry's fan forums at the time.
  21. And we got him for less than we originally offered! A fluke.
