  1. He hasn't disagreed with my theory, he is simply saying he hoped the new manager would be English, as most people did. Unfortunately, IMO, there are only to men who are English who are qualified... Terry Venables and Bobby Robson. Neither ever had a cat in hells chance.
  2. Has my full support. Top jobs should be decided on CV's, not nationality or (cringe) 'passion.' Scolaris' CV is second to none as far as this level of football goes, and even domstically back in Brazil it is top notch.
  3. As my first choice Carlose Alberto Ferriera is being rediculously overlooked my new vote goes for Big Phil Scolari.
  4. I think we are fourth only on the notion that we have played one less game than Newcastle, so our points average is better than theirs.
  5. What a sad way for the Premierships' greatest ever centre forward to go out. It's a horrible thing to say, but it could work in Rovers favour with Newcastle a serious european rival.
  6. I'll feel let down if the new shirts aren't released in atleast mid October.
  7. To be fair I'm sure you watch MGP much more closely on a match to match basis then me, as I just see him as another player, and I appreciate your afinity to him will be much stronger than mine. Perhaps I am being too critical. Perhaps you are being too optimistic, or maybe the common ground is yesterday was his best performance out of a bad bunch. Either way, he can do sod all this season and bang in another four goals, and ifhe does I will be happy. However, four great performances and a couple of assists will go down much better in my eyes. Remember Emertons' first season? He did sod all, but got 15 assists. MGP has four this season. That's 13 goals he's been involved in, whereas Emerton was involved in 15, yet got slated. Just goes to show how his goals, IMO, have shadowed inept performances.
  8. If that was Pedersens' best game in weeks, which it might as well have been, then he really should be dropped. I'd rather we played Peter or Emerton down the left, or indeed Bentley with Emerton or Reid on the right. I'd rather we got Wilcox back from Blackpool the way MGP is playing.
  9. I totally agree about todays game. But in my heart of hearts I can't remember a game where I've walked away thinking 'Pedersen was the difference today,' in any way other than a goal. Yes this is great but I believe the goals will become less frequent, especially as teams pin point the threat of him arriving late from midfield. His set piece delivery is very good, but there will be players in the conference who can deliver great set pieces, but it just isn't enough. He is slow. Painfully slow. He couldn't take the ball past a cone. I'd love him to prove me totally worng, like Steven Reid has, but IMO, on performances going back into January now, MGP shouldn't be in the team. I can't remember who on this MB said him and Bentley can't play in the same team, but they were spot on.
  10. Three things from today... 1. As dissappointed with the performence as I was at Cardiff in the Semi-Final last season when we were one game away from an FA Cup final, though you'd never have known the lack of urgency we showed in the last ten minutes. Why aren't we throwing all we have at them, trying out very best to save our Champions League dream? 2. Linked with this is the crowd. Loudest chant of the day lasted 10 seconds. It was ''Get Into Um!!!!'' It was after 90 minutes. Pompey drew with Arsenal last Wednesday, and I'm convinced the crowds support got them that point. Never stopped cheering them on, and like so many results Pompey have gotten at home over their Premiership years, it was influenced largely by the crowd. Our crowd is collectively awful. Maybe it is the drummers fault, either way, the Ewood crowd is worth NIL points to our team over a season. Nil!!! Pompeys is worth atleast six or so. With our team, imagine how many extra points we could get if we actually made some noise. I'd forgotten we were even fighting for fourth after an hour. 3. MGP. He has no long term career at this level IMO. He has never had an exceptional game in a Rovers shirt, as he has no great attributes from open play. I can tolerate him when he does nothing but score. But if he doesn't score, he does nothing. It has been the case ever since he signed for us. Teams always were going to cotton onto him, and now they have, he's useless. Are Spurs still offering £7m?
  11. This may atleast confirm one of those.... Maybe Mr Benitez secretly wouldn't mind Rovers pushing one or two bigger clubs out of the Champions League places?
  12. I can see the point of view from both perspectives, but I'm of the hope that we get in the Champions League. The old phrase if your good enough, your old enough relates here in, albeit in a slightly different way. If we finish as the fourth best team in this country, then we are good enough to represent it at the highest level. I don't think we'll have to worry about it, but I sure as hell hope we do.
  13. Either you've missed my point, or you've chosen to ignore it. What I'm saying is, I couldn't care less how people decide to spend there money, and it is up to them. But over the last couple of years, ticket prices have dropped to the cheapest in the league, and still people don't turn up, so I'd rather they were just honest if they can't be arsed and say so, rather than claim that tickets should be even cheaper, which IMO, in the scale of things (other teams prices, league position, quality of football, entertainment factor), they shouldn't be. I'm not saying how people should spend there money, I could go to more away games if I wanted, but I genuinely cannot be bothered trapesing up and down the country when I can listen to and even watch some of the games. I'd rather put my money towards other things. If this is the case with other people and home games then fine, but as I've said, over 6000 people have gone missing, and I'm convinced it has nothing to do with the prices in the majority of these peoples cases. If they can't be arsed, then fine, I don't blame them. So try reading all of my posts before you start working up a sweat and getting all angry, which you seem determined to do. And as for slagging of people from Glasgow, again, selective reading has taken place. I slagged off the opinions of people from Glasgow who believe strongly in the whole religious divide to serious degrees. That's for another time and place but I'm sure you'd find plenty of Glaswegians(sp?) who agree. The lost Rovers fans I don't know, but as for calling certain members cretins... Well, atleast you've proven at the very least one or two of my statements are true. And seems your affinity with the term ''Arsenal'' (which you called me) may have background. What was it Mourinho called Mr. Wenger again?
  14. At the end of the day... 2004-2005: 22,315 (Premier League) 2003-2004: 24,376 (Premier League) 2002-2003: 26,226 (Premier League) Those are our average attendences over those seasons. This season it's around the 20,000 mark, possibly a little under. Ticket prices have dropped dramatically in this period, and if the 6000 plus who have all gone missing can give the reason as being because they have got married, had a kid or purchased a mortgage, then fair enough. If people are offended about the bluntness of my opinion then fair enough. I'd have much more respect if somebody said ''I don't go to the games because I can't be arsed, I'd rather spend my money on a new cd and a dvd and watch the extended highlights later on,'' rather than this constant regeime to try and get our already rediculously (in comparision) prices even lower.
  15. It was four years ago, I can't remember if it was bloody cheaper tickets or not, but I would imagine it was priced as what we would now call ''Catagory B'' prices. The cheaper tickets haven't worked this season, so I wish people would stop going on about it. The Blackburn public don't deserve cheap tickets, why don't they stop acting like dossers and get to the games anyway, but just don't buy a pie and a pint when they get there.
  16. It wasn't cheaper tickets, but the final day of the season which traditionally brings in large crowds (Or used to, along with the opening day, boxing day and the easter bank holiday game). Rovers were bang in form at the end of a cup winning season with Duff, Dunn, Jansen and Cole all playing some magical stuff. Explained.
  17. By British football, I mean Premiership style football. You would never see any nation play any style other than that which they are taught from a young age. Brazil never play a ''Spanish'' or ''Italian'' style, Italy never play ''English'' football, Germany never play like Brazil. My choice is Carlos Alberto, and he isn't going to come in and make our national team play like Brazil. He will need time to adapt to the style our players naturally play, and then introduce his methods and styles to try and blend together his ideas with our natural game.
  18. The interesting thing which has to be considered in my opinion is the main objectives of the FA's goals with this manager. May seem stupid but bear (Ggggrrrrrrrrrrr) with this.... IF the FA want to win Euro 2008, they have to appoint a British manager, basically Martin O'Neill, as no England team is going to win anything playing any style but English football. Getting in MO'N would ensure the current England squad has a last hoorah, ala the French in 2000, but I feel he would struggle after this to rebuild in time to mount a serious challenge in the 2010 World Cup. If the FA want to win World Cup 2010, then foreign it is, and my choice would be Carlos Alberto. Like with Sven, any foreigner will have to incorporate their style with that of English footballs. This can't be done in a short period, and it may be that we'd have to write off Euro 2008 whilst a team is built in the new managers image. Seems simplistic, and in written terms I can't be arsed going any deeper, as I don't have the patience to type out all my thoughts. But basically I think if we win the World Cup this summer, we should go foreign and give ourselves the best chance to defend it, but if we don't win it, get in MO'N and go all out for the euros.
  19. 30,000 is as full as Ewood is allowed to get nowadays; there wasn't a spare seat in the house at the Burnley game last season yet the gate was only 28,500. The policing wont be as large for this game which means nearly 90% of the tickets had been sold at the time Lee posted. So by now probably less than 10% of the tickets available are still for sale, which means over 90%, and probably 95% of the ground will be full. So, no, there is not many tickets left.
  20. Would the following post not constitute as one?
  21. Even your rediculously blind optimism couldn't make anyone believe Arsenal will do anything but pulverise West Brom at Highbury.
  22. In the nicest possibly way if anybody knew anything about it you'd know, as it will be posted immediately and discussed frequently.
  23. Think some naughter hacker got in as me that day...
  24. Kuqi is useless in the air too. And don't anybody throw ''What about that flick against .......'' He's useless. Rubbish. A waste of everything. Bellamy is probably the only man alive who despises the sight of Kuqi more than I.
  25. This is the game when we kiss goodbye to the Champions League. Pompey-2 Rovers-0 Liverpool- 1 Bolton-1 Spurs-2 City-1 Man Utd-1 Arsenal-1
