This is 100% how i see it. We have to remember the same people telling us he was gone last summer then he was a dead man walking in the hours after the Fulham defeat. I'm not saying they haven't heard these things but for the umpteenth time it all turns out just to be urban myths as do a lot of other things. It is bang on more likely that things just continue the way they are and i suspect come next Nov/Dec Ewood won't be a very happy place.

What would Lambert have done with Mowbrays backing over 5 years had he been the type of guy happy to just plod around ? I certainly don't think it would have been worse and i'm quite confident we'd never have gone down. He wouldn't have inflicted what Coyle did on us i.e Wes Brown, Stokes, Greer and co. End of the day maybe they are two bang average managers but two polar opposite characters. Mowbray happy to plod and just cling to a job for himself and his pals. Lambert chases the dream and is prepared to fall on his sword when it goes wrong and go somewhere else and start again. He'll find somewhere it just clicks again if he keeps looking for jobs.

Big wages relative to our standing and budget i should say. He probably started off cheap but i'd be surprised if he isn't on a decent wage compared to most outside of the bigger hitters in this league. He'll be on an upper midtable salary which will probably cost the club around a million a year and he's been regularly out performed by managers on less.

Yes you surely have to have something about you to still get it done even Dalglish struggled here for a bit despite buying a galaxy of good players. I'd wager the man management side of it can win out over the tactical stuff when you have such strength at your disposal. I think that is probably Mowbrays biggest strength he's very much a players man. Maybe not so much now but he doesn't have experience running the dressing room for him like in the past. I guess the upshot of all this from my point of view is unless you are a club loaded and ready to fire, or just happy sitting in midtable there isn't much point in entertaining a guy like him and paying him big wages. If you want to over achieve on limited means you need to look elsewhere outside the box a bit.

So we can conclude it isn't ALL about budget, unless it involves TM My opinion is he needs a decent budget just to tread water . If he didn't get a midtable budget here and have the facilities and academy players to select he has we'd have been bang in trouble years ago. Just like under Coyle or anyone else of that ilk yet there are managers out there who out perform us every season with less, this is a fact. Alternatively he needs a whopping budget to get anywhere near a genuine promotion because that allows for the mistakes. More good players the more you can change things, cover injuries and have guys who pulls games out of the mire when you are bad. Stands to reason and no surprise there but it displays he isn't a great manager with a plan just a guy who needs a big helping hand to gain any advantage at all. It's never tactical or getting blood from a stone and he really is no over achiever at all. West Brom / Rovers lge 1 - biggest budgets and spending power by some way and taking over squads full of players of pedigree for the league above - Result = Promotion Boro / Rovers Championship - Modest budget, squad, backing = Midtable messiah Cov lge 1 - No budget = Backwards at an alarming rate after a decent start. So the upshot is to get anywhere at all at any club Tony Mowbray and his gang need a whopping budget, big wage bill and quality already in place to build around. Otherwise it's a yearly midtable finish and being told to be grateful for it.

1 - 1 The charge down to 10th continues Tony says he's happy because a couple of the lads ran around for a bit and he isn't judging results and it's the officials fault we didn't win. -
The majority of them should know what the craic is by now but some of the worst offenders are probably among the most experienced. The coaching staff when you look at it is Lowe and Benson ? I suppose Venus might do some but he's assistant manager, DOF, property developer, agent, adviser and whatever else. It's hardly a modern looking setup.
-
Just young lads, naive, got to learn the hard way etc Which is true in parts but if you don't reel them in or discipline them somehow then they won't learn. How many pro games do Lenihen, Travis, Rothwell, Nyambe Pickering etc have under their belts now ? Even Wharton, it's not as if they've just walked out of the academy and straight into the first team this season.

I genuinely think a few players would stay for an appointment like that despite their alleged 'advice'. It's fantasy land though sadly.
-
Quite a down turn for someone who started so well. Now that's a familiar story eh.
-
You need to get with the times. 2006 Mowbray took over a squad just relegated from the Premier league complete with parachute payments and wage budget to match. Around that time we were having the likes of Bellamy and Benni Mc for a few million, these days we often have 5 million pound Sam Gallagher on one side and 7 million pound Ben Brereton on the other, in a midtable Championship squad.
-
Are we sure this isn't just stemming from Venus advising some players that his pals at WBA might be interested in them ? 2=2 = 5 Of course it's still a horrific scenario if that was the case but nobody is truly trustworthy in football when there is a % to be made. Venus actual role here is another that is shrouded in contradictions but maybe he fancies himself as a bit of an agent.
-
How long ago and with what at their disposal ? You'll be sorted anyway if your down that way you'll still be able to see him 😆
-
The very best thing to do would be to sack the lot of them right now because there is zero chance they are turning this clusterfuck around. 4 games left will yeild no more than 4/5 points max going off most of Mowbrays time here. Get rid even if it cost a few quid get them out of the building and just see where they really end up. Call their bluff and give us time to regroup for next season. If WBA think this crew will get them promoted then more fool them.

The performance v Derby second half was superb and a throw back to what made us decent in the first place. Since then bar a brief flurry at Coventry just about everything has resembled the first half v Derby. Something has gone wrong somewhere it's like a switch has been flicked , it's also sounded at times like he's been trying to get them back onside and he's terrified of having a go at them now. They've just switched off and i agree i suspect a few have had enough of him.

Most don't actually want to turn on the guy because hes done some decent things but there comes a time when the obvious is staring everybody in the face. Iv'e said this over and over that Rovers fans despite what gets spouted on here and SM at times are one of the most tolerant, patient crowds around. Yet when Ewood finally turns it turns big style but we aren't in a relegation battle so you can understand reluctance to have a go. The real problem is the little cartel inside the club that Mowbray has been allowed to create for himself. One really bad start to a season under this fella - and it will come - and we have a Steve Kean mk2 situation make no mistake. Fans need to pray to whatever god they are bound by that the guy himself has had enough and is off somewhere, anywhere. -
As mentioned above if he goes to India he's getting a contract no doubt whatsoever otherwise he wouldn't be invited over. When they want rid they get someone else to do it they won't drag a delegation several thousand miles just to sit there and be told thanks but no thanks. He'll say we've improved this season on last and he'll go one better next time. He'll sight Brereton as his latest project success and recommend selling him and re-investing. They'll say ok you can have his wages in the budget and 500k for another young player, that's the deal. He'll say fine where do i sign.

I think we reached a point a long time ago where he thinks he is bigger than little old Blackburn Rovers now. He's doing us a favour by managing us when his expertise could be put to bigger and better use. Some of the crap Waggot has trotted about backs that delusion up. And some of our fans who lap it up well don't get me started on them, scaremongering is one thing in regards to keeping him but actually believing he's that good is another. The unexpected couple of months blinding form has given him carte blanche to blow it completely this season in some eyes. All because well we'd have taken where we are now at the beginning of the season, that's been being said whilst we go 5th. 6th, 7th, 8th. Cannot grasp the trajectory we are on and how it really needn't be like that. Just like the misguided assumptions all would be well once BBD and Dack were back. Well they are and it isn't.

Only player at this club who is genuinely capable of false 9 to any great effect is Bradley Dack, who was left on the bench again. That is not starting with your best team when you are desperate for goals and wins and have a genuine top 6 aim. I understand the need to man manage him back to fitness but 45 mins is 45 mins whether it is from the off or not. His knee doesn't just unseize itself at 3-45 on a Saturday afternoon he does all the pre-match warm ups etc with the subs. Get the man on and start with the strongest side especially against opposition like Blackpool and Posh. Surely it's better to try and get a few goals to the good as soon as possible then make subs to see games out ? It is indeed just typical stuff from this manager he's a cop out merchant. -
They can get Allardyce in all they want but it won't do any good he's lost his touch now. As for Simon Jordan he's been warning about the impending doom at Bumley due to the financial arrangements every since it was signed and sealed. Normally he's a bit of a dick especially when he switches to boxing but one thing he is an expert on is football finance.

They already were so that tells it's own story.

I was considering getting a ST next season for the first time since Coyle rocked up now that i have a bit more time to go. However if he remains then not a chance regardless of how this season ends now because you can script exactly how it'll go and what will get said. He doesn't give a shiny shite what fans think as long as he's getting his money and keeping his old boys club happy. That became clear last season with the stuff he was coming out with helped by the safety of an empty ground. Some true colours really shone through before he went back on a bit of charm offensive early this season. There are no doubt worse managers out there but there are also a host of them on the dole who'd do similar to Mowbray with the same backing and patience. One of them just might have the gumption to do a bit better or just get lucky.

And that is why there is never a plan B because there is no target man and central striker in the entire club. In a league like the Championship it's a bit ridiculous. Don't forget we had Ayala in there not long ago and last week Gallagher played more central first half and like er....scored. So what happens a week later ? -

Can't disagree with that and the Buckley thing has been a recurring error since it stopped working. Most would have dropped Rothwell and tried Bucko in what looks a more natural position for him. Or today start with Johnson if you want to beef things up in there. I think he's just gone down the route of thinking oh we are playing bottom of the league a weak side so i'll try Edun in the middle. Made a stuttering midfield even weaker, Gallagher wide right has rarely ever contributed anything to attack yet there we go again same old same old.
