  1. He certainly isn't looking to come back here. No doubt old Tone will wait falornly behind the door like an old lab waiting for it's master. Only to see him going elsewhere at the last min leaving him to sign option D. Rodwell springs to mind.
  2. A thing of the past the likes of Flirty although I don't know why. He managed to be a nice guy and good pro behind the scenes alongside being a no nonsense operator.
  3. I was under the impression they had to give those standard guarantees in order to get the accounts signed off ? Might be wrong although even if not it wouldn't stop them pulling the plug if they had to. I think in order for them to pull the plug the issue would have to be forced somehow so that had something to blame it on. Otherwise it's odds on it would be a long slow squeeze then a quiet backdoor exit.
  4. Defensively he's a liability all it needs is a watch back of his games. More often that not a player taking him on goes past him easily or crosses don't get cut out or he gives a foul away. Worst bit is when they stroll past him he just stands their hands on hips instead of trying to get back. Long way to go before i'll even consider him competent cover he's only in because he offers something a bit different going forwards, i.e he's quite quick. Maybe he'll just put it all together all of a sudden and look the part but i think it's unlikely. He was signed for lge 1 as an attacking full back, thats been and gone.
  5. This is the kind of thing they coach out of them these days though sadly they prefer defensive crablike midfielders. Travis has a host of qualities that should be being enhanced but the emphasis seems to be turn him into Evans. Evans himself has spent years here playing below he true capabilities but managers have just wanted him sat quietly in front of the back 4.
  6. As long as Bell is around he'll get games whoever we sign as it's clear TM sees in him some kind of attacking left back. So he'll plonk him in when he thinks the opposition will suit it. Williams told Mowbray he wanted only to be considered for CH from last summer not left back anymore. At most clubs that would have seen him consigned to 4th or 5th choice or sent through the door. Not here though, here he gets his wish then after an ok start he begins to get found out, gets allegedly injured and disappears to pick up his pay from the shadows. He's one that needs trading off the payroll straight away imo but no doubt he's good for moral or something. Probably start this season as 3rd choice CH again and round and round we go. Like the Samuel, Smallwood situation if you want to improve you must try and trade up from these guys somehow if possible. It's difficult to get good creative players or goalscorers in unless you are bold but LB and one or two others are doable because the present bar isn't set very high.
  7. The club in many ways is geared for success and always has been compared to a lot of others. It just needs the right people in there pressing the right buttons. Even the funding is in place to do better but sadly the people aren't it's all about maintaining the status quo. Relegation from midtable championship growing players to sell, promotion and put right back there. Job done.
  8. Not sure it's a losing culture but it seems 'Ah, ok it doesn't matter there's always next time' kind of mentality. I'm on about game to game and season to season. Everyone is fine to bob along because they keep getting well paid and presumably never have to stand up and answer to anyone on a football level outside of one annual foreign meeting. Doesn't take people long to get into a comfort zone its human nature for most. When you are allowed to actually create your own then even better. It all starts right at the very top they set the targets and demands but even if they do there's no proper administration in between to apply it. Just a messenger boy middleman, god knows what his real agenda is and another wideboy who's authority is less than the first team manager.
  9. The downfall of any sympathy that may have gathered was of course the appointment of Coyle. Coupled with the continuing affiliates of said agency providing ALL our managers. Probably quite a few players and other staff throughout the club as well. Whilst that kind of thing remains suspicion remains that vulchers are still waiting in the wings making a quick buck, with what you can only assume is the blessing of the owners. Or one of them at least. Those gobshites continually looking to blame the fans need to take a step back or just do one altogether to be honest. Don't bite, some of them are turning it on its head on purpose to deflect the questioning of the manager etc, you're being played.
  10. It's ok they pay the bills so they can play russian roulette with the club, as long as they leave the lights on ?
  11. One is reading the others tweets and both have been here reading Sparks ?
  12. This is the championship with bread and butter players not class internationals. No need for it half the time especially when it's clear some are uncomfortable with it. Buy players to fit your system and/or play to the strengths of what you have. We have a mix and match selection policy and a sign them then try and fit them in transfer policy.
  13. It needs the right mentality and the right style to suit the team and real will to drive if forwards not shrug shoulders every time we don't win in 6 games or whatever. Without that you can sign whoever you want we'll still go nowhere there needs to be an attitude change from top to bottom. Cruising it isn't good enough to go for the top 6.
  14. He's still in a muddle over it i can see him waffling next mid season that we need to transition from a possession based team to a young vibrant front foot team. He's already come out with that inbetween claiming we are trying to become a possession team. Spinning it out is the realty.
  15. A loan signing off the books of his Mrs non the less, dread to think what Rovers tipped up for that little scenario. End of the day though he wasn't around long enough to make any difference and wouldn't have had the clout to do so anyway. Not much point giving him real stick other than it's obvious he's just another chancer. Probably brought in by the usual crew anyway.
  16. So the post lockdown approach improved the possession stats but in turn blew our best chance in almost a decade of having a real go at the top 6. That just sums everything up in a nutshell really, absolutely blood boiling !
  17. The notes in the accounts and just signing them off is probably all that is required. Doesn't mean anything if the shit truly hits the fan of course and they can't pay. Won't pay surely opens up legal avenues if guarantees have been signed off though surely.
  18. Maybe secured against book value of the players ? Hence why they always make a big deal of 'getting value into the team'.
  19. I'd say so and we are in that big clutch of clubs that could pivot either way but more likely just to remain in the middle bunch. This is why the nous of the manager is so important alongside owner/fan/player backing and of course injuries & form of key players. Our man has had all those up to now apart from the Dack situation recently. Unlike others he's had 12 million worth of forwards that should have compensated that though. He's been quite a lucky fella up to now to be honest so if all that were to continue it's about time he stepped up to the plate next season.
  20. Who would get into bed besides Venkys though and who would they allow ? Nobody except close pals of theirs i'd imagine. Who puts the money in for these investment type signings though would be of interest to me . As for wages i think they more or less guarantee to cover the playing side but club staff in Blackburn might come out of different takings. Not sure it's all one big pot but may be wrong.
  21. He went out on loan but then spent a season or 2 sat on our bench. Couple that with a downgrade in coaching and keepers he wasw working with it could be argued he stagnated a bit. Certainly didn't continue to evolve, valuable learning time on the job wasted there.
  22. There's still external debt in the form of overdraft that will be heading towards its limit no doubt. I'm pretty sure that's be pinned on the club and its assets so that's the thing to watch. Probably around 15 million and it'll have interest and charges so that for me is what those in Ewood will want to keep under control. The owners pay enough in to cover wages etc but not sure they'd want to wipe that off or a large lump of it. Doesn't seem to work like that with them. As for Pr Mani well like a few others he conveniently chooses to omit the last time something like this happened. For whatever reason Vs turned the taps off at the wrong time, or down to a trickle at least. The club had to borrow left right and center to keep going then the sales began. Of course by then we ended up under embargo so it couldn't be reinvested so for a spell we signing utter dross off the usual client lists. Still wracked up a million or more in agents fees though, they didn't go hungry. No cash buys for several years until Williams for a few hundred grand. As we know all that led to relegation. These circumstances are odd now though we've gone from looking in a reasonably healthy position compared to any other time under their ownership. To possibly a very precarious one but the club has plenty assets now, just a question of when not if the auction starts.
  23. Think it's obvious the whole plan set down with the audits etc then some big lumps of money coming in only directed at young British u24 forwards. Grow a side to sell and invest a bit up top to hopefully get big premium prices down the line, relegation reset the clock for all that in a way. You'd hope this time the idea was to sell one regularly to keep the ball rolling and try and keep the rest to keep building a good side. However you never know with this lot and covid could be the blame this time. Last time it was FFP ( and the falling share prices of VH ). So it could well be a fire sale again over the next 18 months like last time rather than the conveyor belt. I'm sure those in the middle with something to gain will be breathing in ears again, not a lot Mowbray can do about that to be fair. Unless they are all interlinked of course. Still the search for willing buyers and good prices might just be the saving grace this time as it won't be so easy i wouldn't have thought. Promotion/top 6 is and always has been just a tag line, something they just hope will happen one day when the gods smile on us.
  24. Maybe they are going to let everyone in for free. The Venky revolution !! Oh sorry the boss here says it has to be evolution.
  25. Corporate idiots only employ other corporate idiots it's always been the case. No wonder this slippery snake ended up at Ewood. Wonder what he'll talk his way into next ?
