Only a fangirl would come out with that ? Ducked Klitschko rematch, stripped of IBF, had to relinquish the others before being stripped after being suspended for cocaine use. Then under investigation with his cousin for use of Nandrolone resulting in the end with a two year back dated ban, now conveniently swept under the carpet seeing as he's back in fashion making people money. Never unified a single belt nabbed them all in one nights stick and run, NEVER defended a single World title to date and probably won't. Never fought a single other top 6 contender outside of his 2 world title wins, almost 5 years apart. If he doesn't get in with AJ or an instant rematch he'll be back to fighting German bus drivers or Ukranian taxi drivers or maybe a bit of fixed wrestling just to stay safe. He turns up on the big nights but when mentioning him against other proper champions he falls short for me at the min. Now jog on fangirl.

I have and i saw him struggle plenty times and eventually nearly slip up v Cunningham. We'll see what it's all about when he has someone in front of him who can throw more than straight shots and isn't 3 or 4 stone lighter on the night. If he blows him away in similar fashion i'll buy you a pint, sorry a babycham ?

Sense at last from Gav there ? You've got a new breed now blinded by all the Fury 'story' the one with a lot of ingredients airbrushed out. The PR he's had since the last Wilder fight is mind blowing the thing on tv, which i couldn't stomach, has really finally got him known in his home country. He's a bit of a walking soap opera and kids love that these days it actually makes them put their phones and x boxes down for 5 mins. Got to credit the guy for following it up he'd have looked a tight plonker being ko'd in 3 ! What makes me howl though is people running around now trying to make out Wilder was a great fighter so this was like Ali beating Foreman. Utter hogwash, then others saying Wilder was a complete bum who's had fights and opponents fixed in his favour yet Furys victory is somehow the best ever ? Got to love the irony.

Another playing above his true level if truth be told. There's such a lack of flair or pace in the squad that any little bright spot gets the hopes up.
-
Literally 1 second or a more stern ref and it would have been oh so different in the first fight That's how close he was to being iced, fine lines in HW boxing. The last laugh hasn't been had yet let's see this guy actually rule the roost for a few years

Wouldn't be surprised if it isn't part of TMs odd bedding in process or something. We moan but you can just see at some point next season something will force his hand into starting Gally up top every week and he'll start banging them in. Then the worshippers will crow Tony has made Gallagher into a ten million pound man and the rest of us will be eating humble lemon drizzle pie. When will we ever learn ! ?

I can't believe a grown man is such a fangirl jesus christ have a bit of balance yes it was a top performance but Wilder is the most well steered champ in history who's technically awful. We know he can bang but that's it Ortiz bashed him all over in the first fight but ran out of gas so the blueprint was there. At the size he is with a 3 stone at least weight advantage on the night he made it tell he was stepping into his punches which is something we haven't really seen from Fury before. He learned from the first fight but seems Wilder was very complacent, he'll nail anyone who gives him chance but there's probably quite a few capable of knocking him out. But obviously now Furys beaten him Wilder was one of the best ever who's beating every other top HW over the last decade. And Wlad wasn't nearly 40, had been beaten 3 times and ruled one of the worst era's ever. Never mind his personal problems at the time ( mrs in rehab ) and the fact the bloke that beat him ran away from the rematch.

Waggot will be on the blower to the LT saying this isn't the propaganda we want i demand a follow up article 5 things we like about strikers on the wing ! Richard will be in the headmaster Tony's office first thing for a stern ticking off and a lesson on how journos do things in Middlesbrough.

It was a decent piece by Sharpe to be fair it's exactly what most fans ask week in week out. Manager worshippers or not and likes of me who actually likes Gallagher but wouldn't have signed him at this juncture without a specific role in mind that fits his abilities. Nice lad though willing to do a multitude of tasks so this present regime will pay big bucks for it. Nice to see the players sticking together but shows what 'nice' lads bring... think skin and fragile egos it's no wonder so many of them are so inconsistent. As with a few others you really have to look to the manager with this one though, player never gives less than 100% but seems he's just been recruited as a water carrier. I'm sure there are plenty out there who'd charge up and down for a lot less than 5 million.

I'm just thinking given the finances with regard to FFP the focus will be more on the outgoings and getting wages down again. Also i don't think any will push for a move but there will be quite a bit of interest and the need to comply will be the driving factor. I think they'll slap too much of a tag on AA to be honest but one of the other two will be tempting enough for a serious bid. I don't mind be a bit leaner and meaner it suits Mowbrays methods far better imo as long as incomings are focused on quality rather than back ups.

I can see us starting next season with AN other keeper similar to Walton or a youngster signed late in the window, prob on loan. Nyambie or Bennett if Ryan is sold, AN other loaned in kid after Lenihen is sold ( one of them will need to be i'm sure), Williams, Bell Up front the same but with Samuel retained and Graham gone. I wouldn't class it as a slow build really it's just doing enough to get by as we are.
-
Even with Dack and Holtby we've suffered similar the failure to bring in a winger who might at least have the pace to get in behind has long been something we've needed but still hasn't been addressed, in favour of playing (finding a place for) strikers there. Agree on the defence and we've lost games like that in the past so it has been moved on from last season we have to give then that. However lets look at the bigger picture and see that the keeper and arguably most talented player won't be here they are loaned. And quite likely one of Nyambie or Lenihen will be sold. Worrying for the 'slow build' project, no getting away from it this season could present our best chance of getting in those play offs for a while to come.

100% some of us have been screaming it for years about Wilder. I don't think he's as bad as a lot make out he has skills but they are very limited and at 34 with over 40 fights he'll never changed. Being able to navigate himself around the HW scene for over ten years aided by the WBC hasn't helped him. He's had no wars and has only ever had to dig himself out of one trough v 38 year old Ortiz whose slow as an overloaded oil tanker. Credit to Wilder it's not his fault he's dispatched people without a fight a bit like the real Tyson used to but he ruled all comers before he fell off his perch. Deontay has lived under a cherry tree and picked not the ripest fruit but the ones ready to whither of which he thought Fury was one. Half right on that as he nearly did him in the first fight but difference is a top class boxer makes the adjustments whereas a deluded one thought he'd be picking up the same script this time only writing his own ending. As for Fury i'll never be a fan of the man but boxing wise you have to go back to Lewis fighting over there and dispatching the likes of Michael Grant etc. He didn't have the rep of Wilder though but probably another basket ball player type turned boxer. There's a reason Fury and Joshua are elite now for gods sake get it on !
-
To me he selects Gallagher right for defensive reasons first and of course that kind of thinking gives him the excuse he needs to rotate certain player when in reality there isn't any need. Think both managers set out to stifle each other last night and protect the point they began with. I reckon behind the doors both would have been happy with it. The most predictable game and result of the entire season imo.
-
Well not many of them will command 6/7 million price tags before they are shaving that's for sure. Be interesting to see how many actually have ? Another Venky era ground breaker probably.
-
Yep there's as much chance of him costing the game as winning it.
-
We will never ever start breaking down stubborn teams regularly with (poor) strikers on the wing. There's such a repetitive naivety about it that you can only think they gamble on stuck clock syndrome or law of averages, call it what you want A predictable dull evening.

I reckon he might push it because he wants something big to get stuck into. Probably knows just the people to do it as well or kit it out at least. -
Considering Parkes has probably been around since the early 70's i don't get the 1995 angle in regards to him at all. Give him the accolade he deserves, something long overdue anyway before any mention of his current situation.
-
Anybody might be forgiven for thinking it's actually part and parcel of the game and something they might actually consider before signing.
-
He's also thrown in the living away from home line as well that TM has used for every single signing he's made that hasn't shown much. Gladwin, Whittingham, Samuel, Gally earlier on and of course Ben. Then you look at Shearer leaving Geordieland at 15 to go to Southampton or Duff coming over here from Ireland at about 13. Then you factor in most of the lads mentioned have left home young to go to clubs previous to Rovers and draw the conclusion it's just a convenient excuse to chuck in in most cases.

Brentford (A) - 12:30pm KO (Sat 22nd Feb 2020)

That's what happens when the first team manager has to run the whole operation. Like buying a franchise almost. -
He needs to take on and beat all comers and contenders not just the belt holders for big money. All other legendary champions have had a spell or even two doing that it's why they are remembered. You have to fight your mandatories and young pretenders otherwise you'll always have it thrown at you. That's how you build a real legacy not one top opponent and win every five years. As for a Joshua fight he has all the tools and there is no huge weight advantage which really counted against Wilder. He likes a tear up as well although his chin will hang out. It's a different fight and different proposition. Although despite what they both say that fight won't get near till at least next year. Both have less risky cash to make in between. Can't take anything away from Fury he did what he had to do in fine style and what most impressed me was he was prepared to take risks to do it. His face was well marked at the end even though it looked like Wilder barely registered a punch but Fury obviously adopted a strategy like Holyfield did v Tyson... beat him to the punch every time in order to break him down. Iv'e been non plussed with his style at times but can't knock what he did the other night. Best performance by far and a performance that harked back to the elite fighters of the 90's in dealing with another serious threat. Can't really stand the fella or a lot of the now buried stuff that surrounds him but genuinely enjoyed that fight as a boxing fan. Probably because i didn't care who won and just wanted one of them to get sparked ?

They won't even pay for a stadium clean, i'm sure that wouldn't bankrupt the club. However they were happy to waste money on moving the tv gantry for their own purpose. It might not be popular but if i was them and i wanted to make my presence felt i'd have a stand built and have one of my miriad of companies sponsor it. Get the advertising exposure from it and have facilities in it that would help bring in revenue. A nice way to get legit money into the club on two counts. But i'd be serious about it not just playing at it. -
He isn't though at this level and common sense would be to loan him out. On the price tag sadly that will define him at Rovers i'm afraid and to say remove it is nonsense. They paid that premium for that young player because they thought he was ready to burst onto the scene as he was. No amount of sugar coating it can get away from that i wish you'd remove yourself from your 'insider everybody knows better' bubble and come to grips with it. Of course he might carve out a career as he gets a bit more physically developed but we've seen it so many times in football how these things go. Also the U18 and U19s is irrelevant now the lower leagues, non league and football scrapheap have been littered with similar. Many other decent players have been nowhere near it either. By the way wanting him sending out on loan isn't writing him off it's actually the opposite.
