  1. Tony is god in their eyes apparently, if he wanted a few million for a defender or keeper he'd have got it. The end. As for Tosin well you've just fallen into the trap we are discussing the merits of loans, stop gaps and constantly upsetting the back line versus investing in it in our own players building a platform and looking longer term. One is stability and building, the other is putting plasters over holes that won't heal themselves.
  2. People still have to shell out 70 quid at once. Why does that seem to waft over some heads on here ? Lose the next couple and it could be dead rubber time. That's why these things will always only have limited appeal. Fair play to them for trying it though and I'm sure it's more designed to get a few hundred extra in rather than thousands. They aren't that stupid surely.
  3. Tell them straight what is needed. Or Spent what's available elsewhere via his mates and toe the line. By the way Bauer was a free and there were others out there. You don't have to invest 6 million in every player.
  4. Other clubs and managers seem to invest in their back line and keeper Dangerous game loaning a load in every season.
  5. Please don't tell me they're now weighed down with chips instead of donuts these days....
  6. Can't knock them when they actually try stuff, seems a decent idea. Really need some attacking football with a bit of energy on the pitch though as if anything is likely to get them hooked it's something to cheer. So often these good deals end up falling flat on the pitch.
  7. No wonder he's dicking around again then. I bet he ends up with nothing more than loose change in his pocket. Something not right about him or the way he keeps getting clubs despite being a waster.
  8. I think if we step away from comparing him to Raya it gives a better idea of what he's about. Raya i think is a bit of an enigma you'll not find many better at getting down quick and reflex saves but some things with him i'm not sure he'll ever improve on. What we need is a steady keeper who's going to settle here between the sticks for a number of years. Not stop gaps and experiments to see if we can make a few quid just a reliable sort, solid if unspectacular. Walton looks like he might develop into someone steady, well by this eras standards anyway. I prefer to look at him as a better version of Steele at the min. Not saying much i know but he's doing ok it would have been easy to go backwards after a ropey start but he's improved so must have something about him.
  9. Hope so it would be nice to see the Johnson of his Derby years a bit more often. Think fitness has been a big issue for him.
  10. Not sure i'd be starting Johnson in this his head has looked like its still been back in Derby since he's been here.
  11. He's settled down enough to show he's capable of further improvement in the future helped no doubt by the defence gelling a bit in front of him. The tombola has had it's wings clipped a bit as well so that helps imo. Worth a punt if he's affordable but talk of 5 million as daft as 500k and i'd be worrying again if they paid that much, time to look at the connections seeing as they brought Gallagher as well ! In this day and age you're talking a million down with add ons being a reasonable deal i reckon. He's got solid championship pedigree now as well as a bit of potential. Raya went for 3 so anything more than that would be wiffy to me, i'm saying undisclosed fee of about 2.5 that's my prediction. Of course Nixon or someone will be putting 3 other clubs after him and quoting 5 million before the end of the season !
  12. I've come to the conclusion the slow build they kept mentioning was in reference to bringing our own through. Knowing there is quite a few there plus the ones already in. Intention is probably to sell a load at some point and recoup a few years running costs and outlay, everything in between is just plugging gaps. The won't invest in defenders debate is open to argument but whats been clear in Venkys time is the reluctance to actually buy a decent goalkeeper.
  13. True colours finally captured in glorious screenshot. The irony.
  14. Football should come together to weed out turds like this so they never get another gig anywhere.
  15. Mainly down to the mentality imo and it reflects on here with the old 'must win game' debate. If you want to go somewhere then at this the business end of the season they are all must win. Yet it seems more a case of we want to win we'll try but be careful and of we don't it's ok there's always next week/x number of games left, something will happen ! Make it happen !
  16. Blame Souness for that one i think it harks back to then....?
  17. Something that strikes me as strange with our outfit is that when we've had a bad patch and the vultures are circling for the managers head they suddenly out of the blue conjure up a couple of top performances. Whoever the opposition. Yet when it's all to play for and there is an actual goal of getting into the top 6 it's dull, lacking drive and back to the usual slow disjointed tactics. Why is this ? I'm not calling the team bottle jobs because they've grafted for 2 points this week they didn't cave in. Just wonder why from the gaffers point of view we don't go for it a bit more when there's nothing to lose really. And why we aren't capable of those backs to the wall type brave efforts when there's a nice position up for grabs ?
  18. It's a bit pathetic really but maybe TM has been sulking a bit. Then again it's probably just propaganda aimed at India. The club is run just like a franchise. Those running it are always just one bad result away from deflecting blame onto fans.
  19. In the mix = top six It even rhymes. Suppose at the min it's best described as 'on the fringes'.
  20. The usual shoot yourself in the foot stuff not helped for the 50th time by the player accommodating disjointed tactics. Pleased for Gallagher, centre forward playing centre forward and scoring = rocket science. Then shoved back to the wing !! We can doubt what goes on in TMs head but we can never doubt the effort they give him, deserved point in the end from another awkward game. 2 points gained this week courtesy of other teams slipping up and our own resolve but probably the biggest chance we'll get to actually get in the mix blown.
  21. Obviously hoping to catch the attention of random fans who happen to be driving past Ewood and realise their team is playing Rovers..... 'We've done all we can' ?
  22. Sharpes had plenty stick for appearing to be a club man most of the time. The min he writes a perfectly reasonable article asking the questions tons of fans ask he gets moaned at by a few players and panned by the usual groupies. Barmy the fellas just doing his job. To be honest you could apply the same questions to quite a few players signed by Tony, good job he didn't bring that up.
  23. Think we are hitting a bit of a dry patch but hopefully Swansea will leave gaps and we'll grab something. Heart says Rovers 2 Swansea 1 Head says 1-1
  24. That previous post really hit the spot didn't it, kind of like the truth hurting. Next time you end your exile maybe you should come back with a bit more class rather than 'i know best, i told you so digs' at others opinions on here that didn't tally with your own. You have the nerve to call me oracle lol I'm jusr a boxing fan i haven't attached my tongue to one fighters bottom to make myself feel better. Have a good day.
